  1. Okay, let's look at your favorite stat of runs per game. Right now, the Brewers are 10th in MLB in that stat, in a virtual tie with the Cardinals and ahead of the Padres. Now, let's look at the advanced stat of WRC+. The Brewers are ranked 14th, just below teams such as the Giants and Phillies and ahead of the Padres. What does this mean? The Brewers are in fact, by the advanced stats and by the traditional stats, in the same general tier of MLB offenses as contenders such as the Padres, Giants, and Phillies...You can pound sand all you want, which is all you seem to want to do nowadays, but that's what the stats say right now. I believe that the offense does place them in a weaker position compared to teams like the Dodgers and Braves, but that it's not impossible for them to overcome that in a postseason series with arms like Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta (hopefully), Williams, Hader, etc. Had we gotten just an average level of offensive production last postseason, we likely would have been the ones advancing and not the Braves.
  2. Also, worth noting by way of comparison that 538 has them at 83%, with a 73% chance of winning the division. Not a lock, but pretty good odds at this point any way you look at it.... The Peralta injury has definitely been big, but the good news is that he is throwing off a mound which means he's not that far off. Also helps that Corbin and Woody are both dealing right now. He also wants us to acquire Joey Gallo, which I'm not too sure about at all. His defense has taken a step down this year and he has been horrible with the bat. I feel like if Stearns was truly interested in Gallo, he would have found a way to get him in the Lucroy trade back in 2016.
  3. Make everyone in this farm system available in the right deal except for Jackson Chourio. And don't trade both Frelick AND Wiemer. Go get any one or more of Bell, Benintendi, Laureano, Happ, D. Peralta, M. Perez, C. Kuhl, Quintana, J. Lopez, Bednar, M. Fulmer.
  4. Yes, he is a generational talent. He's quite simply been the best pitcher in baseball over the last three years by virtually every meaningful statistic, including fWAR (12.5). His career bWAR is weighed down heavily by his putrid 2019 season (-2.2). But, he's not close to that same pitcher due to his replacement of his four-seam fastball, which was statistically the worst pitch in baseball that season, with his cutter, which has arguably become the best pitch in baseball. Meanwhile, his FIP last season (1.63) was the second lowest of the post-dead ball era, after Pedro Martinez's 1999 season (probably the best single season by a pitcher in baseball history). So, no he's not Rick Porcello. Even Porcello's Cy Young season in 2016 was nowhere close to as dominant as any of Burnes' last three seasons, as he mainly won that race due to the fact that he won 22 games for a big market first place team. Instead, I would point you to Roy Halladay as the best comparison. Eerily similar career trajectories and pitch profiles.
  5. Hader must be down again due to the high # of pitches on Sunday and Monday...
  6. I think it's safe to say Corbin will be among the names called on Sunday....
  7. You never did like taking responsibility. The easy solution was, "I was wrong. Glad to be wrong."
  8. Ah, the old, "I got burned by assuming something do to my persistent pessimism about the Brewers, so I'll just blame others...."
  9. 110.5 MPH off the bat and 440 feet. Nearly left the ballpark. Just wow.
  10. That may have been the best at-bat of his career, working a 9 pitch count after falling behind 0-2.....Generally when the count gets to 0-2, I just assume it's going to be a Keston K....
  11. I almost could sense that coming. It's the Keston Hiura game apparently....
  12. And our offense is doing a good job of helping him out, too.
  13. Yes, he had more bad outings than just the one against the Cubs. But the Cubs one where he gave up 7 runs in 3 2/3 innings really set him back as far as his ERA. Meanwhile, his peripherals are: 2.96 xERA, 3.00 FIP, 3.00 xFIP. That's exactly where he was last year when he finished 5th in Cy Young balloting.
  14. A game to forget, for sure. Get the series win tomorrow and move onto the Pirates.
  15. Not really just Woody's last two starts. He's been good on the season, as shown by his peripherals. The results just weren't quite there in the early going largely due to his initial blowup start in Chicago. Burnes is the best (healthy) starter in baseball, Woody is Top 10, and Freddy is top 25. Lauer is a solid 4. We do need someone to step up though right now due to Freddy and Houser being injured. I would like to see what we can get outside the organization.
