  1. I agree on Vegas, but again that's not for everyone. I'd suggest San Francisco. Lots to see, no need for a car and a ton of options for things to see and do. Between Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, the waterfront, etc. its like visiting a few different cities.
  2. You'll never work in talk radio with that attitude! The most impressive thing for me so far is the quote from Hunter. That just seems so opposite from both Yost and Macha, that it should be beneficial somehow.
  3. Hopefully, this being his first major league managerial job, he'll be interested in seeking counsel from the players as well. Unlike Macha, who admitted he really didn't really talk to Braun until his second spring training. I'm excited about this - I was already starting to tire of the Bobby Valentine sideshow.
  4. This makes me question Melvin's decision-making ability. This is the second hiring decision in a row where he's basically said he's unable to identify one clear-cut, candidate. Last time, we just hired all of them. This time we're "comfortable" with all of the finalists.
  5. I guess this fits here because the article is about post-season participants, but did anyone else read this article? The premise is that the the Rangers / Braves trade for Teixeira was a win-win because Texas is in the playoffs and Teixeira has a ring. What about the Braves? I wouldn't exactly call their side of the trade a win. Oh, wait. This is an ESPN story, it has to revolve around the Yankees.
  6. On the D-List yesterday, Drew Olson said he talked to TH who admitted his password was very easy to crack. I'm guessing either "Brewers" or "Password".
  7. When is this organization going to stop celebrating 1992? I'd like to see Listach at least get a look. Anything other than a re-tread at this point. This team leads a leader in the manager's office, there aren't really any vocal leaders on this team. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think it needs to be part of the criteria we look for in a new manager.
  8. Dear Manny, That's how you pitch with a lead. Cheers, Cappy
  9. For as much as we complain about the JS, I will admit that I love TH on Twitter. He was on fire last night with Bob Davidson. It is the perfect medium for his snark and sarcasm.
  10. You are a corporate trainer. Training is all you do. How do you schedule something for one hour, only to have it go two hours. No one even asked questions, yet your presentation went 100% longer than you scheduled. The rest of us have jobs to do, your only job is to train. How do you underestimate you time needs that badly, on a presentation you give all the time?
  11. Carnival Court totally depends on the crowd. The bands are generally good, almost always cover bands that get the crowd going. Sometimes the crowd is fun, but other times it turns into a frat house. Personally, I've had a blast there at times, but I've also seen more vomit there than anywhere else in Vegas. If you're a vodka drinker, hit Red Square in Mandalay. They have an amazing selection, many of which you can't get anywhere outside of Russia. The bar made of ice is worth the trip.
  12. I just got rid of cable within the last couple of weeks. I'm running a lot of programming through my computer to my tv. Hulu video quality seems to be very good. I kept my u-verse wifi, so I can get the ESPN3 programming, I watched college football last night. It was a little choppy, but overall not bad, especially considering the money I'm saving. The MLB.tv streams are great, I'm within the Brewers blackout area, so I'm still working on alternatives to that. I'm just starting to see what's out there using torrents and the like. Last night I was able to choose from far more NFL and NCAA games on-line than I would have using cable. The picture quality isn't always the best, but I'm willing to sacrifice.
  13. I've always liked the Voodoo Lounge, which is on the roof of Rio. You have to cab there (it's off the strip), but the view of the strip is amazing and its inside and outside. The crowd skews a little older by Vegas dance club standards (I'm 34 and didn't feel old). The cover charge isn't bad and there isn't a "velvet rope" feel. Plus, its right across from Palms, which is great for people watching if you want to catch some of the Young Hollywood crowd.
  14. I've sold on my own twice, and once with a realtor. The time I used a realtor I was closer to the ultimate sales price than she was. I'd call real estate attorneys to get an idea of their cost and what services they provide. Many title companies offer a "FSBO package" which includes title work, doc prep, filing, etc. I worked in mortgage for years and am not a fan of realtors. There are good ones out there, but 90% of that industry is vastly overpaid for the service they provide.
  15. Pearl Jam - Ten Beatles - Revolver
  16. Even their mugshots are classy! Notice how he got his skin color to match the team colors.
  17. Yeah, you should stick to baseball. The call was the correct one. I think CBS did a terrible job in their coverage, clearly claiming that this was not a bunker. It was clear that none of CBS' on-course reporters (former golfers!) read the rulesheet posted in the clubhouse, nor did Johnson, who admitted he didn't read them. I can see not reading the course-specific rules if you're out hacking away on a muni course, but in a major? On a course as unique as Whistling Straits? Come on.
  18. Me too. I'm glad it's only 3 years, so that if "Old Corey" comes back we're not handcuffed too bad. It probably also keeps him somewhat tradable as well, assuming there is no "no-trade" clause. Not that that matters, since the Brewers seem to be against trading veterans if it hurts their feelings. If Hart keeps performs near what he's done this year, this deal will be good for everyone. Hopefully we're not buying high on one of our own players.
  19. I played summer ball and agree, missing out on Legion ball sucked. In college, we played a spring schedule and without fail the first weekend of games (April 1) got snowed / sleeted out. From a weather standpoint, the hybrid season would work, but I doubt it will ever come to that because it would take kids out of spring sports (golf & track) and still not allow kids to play a full legion season.
  20. This is exactly why I think they should trade him now. The reason the Brewers got such disappointing returns for JJ and Hall were becase they didn't trade them when they had value, a mistake that very well could be made again with Hart if we wait until next year (or beyond) to trade him.
  21. With as much as Edmonds was gimping around the field last night (albeit with 4 hits), there has to be at least a chance he goes to the DL when Yo returns.
  22. Completely agree. I don't think there's a deal out there that brings the Brewers a legit, potential #1 for Fielder. I think a trade of Hudson and Beckham / Viciedo looks good. Personally, I'd prefer Beckham.
  23. Lost in all the excitement of the game, DJ Reyburn is my new favorite umpire. It was nice to see a young umpire that understands that he is not the center of the game (the anti Joe West??). When Russell came out to argue in the 7th, Reyburn stood with his arms crossed, responded to Russell's complaints with no emotion, gave him a sufficient amount of time to complain, then ran him. After the ejection, he didn't say another word as Russell continued to yell. This should be the model for umps, hopefully this trend will continue as some of the old guard get out of the league.
  24. Technically, that was "Bull Durham." I'm partial to Charlie Donovan making the manager offer to Lou Brown, with the response being "I got a guy on the other line about some whitewalls, I'll talk to you later."
