    Some really interesting things about the BA top ten. They're higher on Bitonti and Letson than I've seen anywhere else. Do they not consider Gasser a prospect anymore? I hope someone asks them about that one in their Brewers chat today.

    I had him at #4, behind Made, Quero, and Gasser. Felt like a good compromise between the iffy chance he remains a starter and the almost certainty of being an all-world reliever.

    For the record, while I'd like to see him in the Bauers role, I don't think that's likely. I think to have the Bauers role you need to be a solid defender and able to be subbed in late at the position. I like Black but he isn't that at first base right now. But who knows? Maybe he spends the entire offseason fielding ground balls and working on his digs. With a hole on the right side you'd think he'd make it the priority.

    He's had ten errors in 733 innings at first base. That's up against 463 putouts and 50 assists. In fact, he's carrying the exact same fielding percentage at 1st that Martinez does. Maybe it seems like an adventure over there at 1st with Black, but that's far from the case.

    He's got a better shot at starting next season in A+ than he does in Milwaukee. Come on.

    Passan: Anyone in need of a closer need only look at the National League Central, where two of the best in baseball will be available. Executives say Milwaukee's Devin Williams and St. Louis' Ryan Helsley are both on the market, and they expect both to be moved at some point this winter. Each has one year of club control remaining and will be in his final season of arbitration, with Williams expected to command around $8 million and Helsley $7 million. And considering the level of production they provide -- Williams had a 1.25 ERA and struck out 38 in 21⅓ innings after returning from a back injury, and Helsley punched out 79 over 66⅓ innings with a 2.04 ERA and MLB-best 49 saves -- the asks will be understandably high. Teams in the market for a closer could include the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants, though realistically any team would gladly add either Williams or Helsley to its bullpen. It'll be nice to have a bit of a bidding war for Williams.

    TBH I was wondering that last month when the lists started coming out. But I'm a bit lower on some of the higher ranked guys in the org too. Hope I'm wrong on them.

    Baty is about to turn 25 in a few weeks. At this point he's a failed MLB prospect who's going to have to fight hard for a future in the sport. He's not someone you give up value for.

    I think calling him the best reliever in baseball is a pretty big stretch. In the end it comes down to the return, and I think the days of relievers getting eye popping returns are mostly over. I'd really love to be wrong. I hope the Brewers trade him, but I won't be upset if they keep him, comp pick or not.

    BA's no worse than #3 all-time in terms of Wisconsin sports announcers. He can call as many games as he wants for as long as he wants.

    When I think about it, there's really not many packages I wouldn't accept for Devin. A one year 2-3 win rental on the infield? Sure. Some team's top ten prospect? Hell yes. A Yoho, Hunt, Burke, Wichrowski, Bitonti mid-org prospect? Yea, that'd be great. Lower level dudes with promise? Absolutely. K.C. Hunt is Pipeline's #29 prospect. I'd help Devin pack if we got some organization's K.C. Hunt back.

    I don't think Devin has near the value some of you guys apparently think he does.

    Given the alternatives, I don't mind Sal working on third base this offseason. If he picks it up and takes a moderate leap with the bat, it would solve a significant problem currently facing the roster. We just need a stopgap for (hopefully) a year. There's a wave of infielders arriving in '26 and beyond and Sal can go back to the OF or turn into a super utility.

    Third basemen had the third worst OPS (.696) across the majors this season, behind second base (.677) and catcher (.680).

    Not everything's in the video. Sounds like you still need a cable or streaming subscription. When asked about over the air broadcasts he says: "I know some teams in other leagues have a smattering of games over the air," he said. "I'm not ruling anything out. This is the first day of an official announcement. ... We're exploring a lot of different ways to deliver the telecasts."

    As a viewed this could be nice. As a fan who cares about TV deal money for my team, this is lousy.
