  1. Imagine explaining the Super 2 system in any other sport. None of us are even sure that's the reason some of these guys are still in AAA. It's just the logical explanation. Oh, and the 40 man. And Rule 5. Baseball is so stupid.
  2. Do we think Murph has any input at all on lineups?
  3. I don't care about either if local TV revenue is being distributed equally (even better if if more is being given to smaller markets).
  4. Think you're overthinking this, bud. Stuff happens in a series. Dodgers were awesome and the Brewers were underdogs, but it could have gone the other way. I don't think it's a referendum on the whole system. I'd love a salary cap, but like I said, I would worry that it comes with concessions that harm small market teams like the Brewers. The players proposal is trying to head that off by opening with significant boosts to small markets. I think it puts the owners on their heals a bit.
  5. Smith, Freeman, Betts, Pages, Hernandez, and Shohei. Those are the batters who got their asses beat by the Brewers last season in full season series. What are you talking about?
  6. Their division is crap. But is there really any reason why San Francisco should be this bad? Or San Diego? If both of those teams were holding up their end of the bargain, the Dodgers wouldn't be pencilled in every year lately.
  7. They'll just say look at the division leading Brewers, Rays, and Guardians. Look at the Mets.
  8. FWIW, I don't think the owners can credibly make that argument.
  9. I don't think you get a cap without giving up something significant, and those things are likely to be things that disproportionately hurt teams like the Brewers, i.e. earlier FA.
  10. The reduced FA also comes with a provision that the team has the option of keeping the player if they pay salary equal to the top 125 salaries in the league. As for the salary floor, I don't think $150 million is worth sweating when you're also increasing salary minimums, doubling the Super 2 percentage, and increasing revenue share via TV deals. Rewarding small market teams that perform well also benefits a well run organization like the Brewers. Guaranteeing small market teams $240 million if they keep it invested in the team. I liked what I read.
  11. Reading through the MLBPA's initial proposal, it actually looks good from a small market perspective.
  12. The tarps off moment (blegh) makes me miss the Buckethead Brigade.
  13. I really can't believe we're having this discussion over disrespecting BFIB St. Louis Cardinals. Seriously, F that organization forever. I wish Abner would have walked over to their bench, grabbed a bat, and wiped his ass with it. I don't want polite and respectable from my team, especially when it comes to playing the Cubs or Cardinals. I want the loudest, most obnoxious ******** around.
  14. Did Uribe drive drunk or beat a woman up in an incident I'm not aware of? Scum?
  15. I think no matter what, we can all agree that celebrating like that is much worse than him deciding to hit someone with a 99 mph fastball.
  16. You should probably ask yourself why he'd do it tonight, then.
  17. This isn't the 80 or 90s. Murph is the dinosaur here. You guys are all at least somewhat familiar with Andrew Fischer, right? You want him to tone down his emotion? Because I that's going to be something to see. He's going to make so many teams mad and I can't wait.
  18. No one, including Murph, asked the question of why he did it in this instance? Then he gives you the answer and it's not good enough. Whatever, I'm sure his teammates loved it. "It's not a death sentence for the kid" Whew, thank god.
  19. I think you sound silly when you're policing emotions and celebrations. Someone can MF, point, and yell at the opposing dugout, but heaven forbid they do a celebration that's been around since the mid-90s. Who cares. It's only a story now because Murph made it one.
  20. There's a reason the WBC looks like the world's greatest party when the Latin teams play. They encourage emotion and celebration. It's awesome as hell.
  21. "Abner's an emotional player and we like that from him. Maybe he went a little overboard there, but we don't ever want to take that emotion out of him. It's part of what makes him great." Even if you despise what he did, there's a way to handle that in the media that isn't "I was embarrassed" and "I don't know what got into him". Here's Abner's explanation:
