  1. Game #76 last year. The Pirates finished off a doubleheader sweep by beating Milwaukee 13-2. The day's total had the Pirates ahead 21-3, and they would go on to beat the Brewers twice more for a 4 game sweep. Link to game info: sports.espn.go.com/mlb/bo...=240702323 Game 2 was a beauty as the combination of Wise, Burba, Bennett, and Kinney gave up 14 hits, 5 walks, and 2 HRs in 8 forgettable innings. Jason Bay went 4-5 with 3 2Bs, 8 RBIs and a contested HR (a fan reached out and touched the ball, prompting an umpire conference before they called it a HR). Abraham Nunez also homered for the Pirates, and they banged out 6 2Bs as a team. As stated yesterday, this doubleheader sweep marked the beginning of the end for last year's team.
  2. Is this not on TV anywhere, ESPN alternates and stuff included? I checked pretty much everywhere yesterday and I don't see it being on.
  3. Steve, I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more COWBELL!! One year ago after 75 games the Brewers stood at 41-34. That turned out to be the high-water mark for the season. I still remember how good I felt about the team, coming off a 5-game road winning streak and going to Pittsburgh. Obviously nobody foresaw the 26-60 finish and, frankly, it's still a little hard to believe that they were that bad over the last 86 games of the season. The torrid stretch of losing began with a 4 game sweep by the Pirates, with the Brewers losing to Oliver Perez 8-1 in the opener. See the link here: sports.espn.go.com/mlb/re...=240702223 The game featured a 14 K performance by Brewer hitters, 7 strong innings from Perez, and a career day for the non-descript Tony Alvarez (1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBIs). For the Brewers, Overbay went 2-4 with an RBI (his 59th of the season), plating Junior Spivey with his 32nd double of the year.
  4. I'm going outside to light myself on fire. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Wait, nevermind, I'm happy as a clam!!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  5. Again, there is no way Magruder comes through here. Absolutely none. Listen to my negativity. I'm starting to hate myself.
  6. If Ramirez doesn't get a hit here I'll eat my shorts. Edit: I mean Burnitz.
  7. Not really: the Ben sheets of 2001-2003 used to beat the Cubs. Amen to that.
  8. Sheets just gave up a hit to Neifi fricken' Perez. I'm now convinced that Sheets is a loser. Wayne Franklin would have never allowed this to happen.
  9. Good grief Moeller.... you catch that ball and he's out at the plate. Not sure if you are watching on TV, but Moeller really had no chance to catch the ball, IMO.
  10. Hi, my name is Ben Sheets. I'm a hard-luck pitcher for the Brewers. I just never get any run support. Meh.
  11. The ball must be carrying well. On both Brewer homeruns, announcers seemed surprised it went out. With Carlos' the only question was if he got under it too much because he crushed it, but it went very high. As far as Moeller it was a slicing liner that barely got over the wall and, frankly, I'm surprised when Moeller hits one out.
  12. I am the first one to complain about Sheets not getting any run support, but it really ticks me off when the Brewers come from behind to tie the game and then he gives up a run the next inning. It's almost like he wants to lose but keep it as close as possible.
  13. Y'know, if Bill Hall had a position and was putting up these kind of numbers, he would be a strong candidate for the All-Star Game this season.
  14. I just realized that Bill Hall has a .904 OPS. Yes, that is correct, Bill Hall has an OPS of over .900.
  15. A Ks don't matter statement from Len Kasper.
  16. nicker! whinny! neeeeiiiiiiggghhh!!!!!
  17. Why are we even pitching to Lee?? To walk him would mean Sheets didn't battle him.
  18. Sheets now at 12 HR in 62 + innings. D'ya think he should possibly knock Lee on his butt next time he comes up?
  19. Magruder has a .290 OPS in June. Sure, he'll come through.
  20. Sheets has now given up 11 HRs in 60 1/3 innings this season. That has got to stop.
  21. anyone getting concerned about Sargent Lou Production Cap'n Lou was fun and all, I mean, we had some good times together, but I've moved on to Angel now. No hard feelings Lou, and I hope we can still be friends.
  22. My stat of the day: Last year through 70 games the Brewers had a run differential of + 7. This year through 70 games the Brewers have a run differential of + 6. Yet, last year they had a 36-34 record, this year a 31-39 record, a difference of 5 games.
  23. Yes, Eveland pitching very well, as well as Martin for West Virginia today. Dana also with a base hit, his 4th hit of the season. Alex Zumwalt providing commentary in the radio booth today, he's pretty interesting.
  24. Game #71 last year. The Brewers won to move to 37-34 on the season, the first win in a 5-game winning streak. They slapped the Twins around 7-2 in a game that featured a strong outing by Victor Santos, Lyle Overbay's 30th double, and a career day by Jeff Liefer. www.sportsline.com/mlb/ga...26_MIL@MIN
  25. I would guess Overbay is not in the lineup so that Fielder can play in a game at Miller before he gets sent down again. When he homers off Williams it will be a bonus.
