  1. His "fastball" is just good enough to make the changeup super-effective. When you're waiting for a 35mph pitch and he throws you a 80mph pitch, you now have to protect against both which leads to indecision. I have a feeling I'm going to get eaten up on this one.
  2. Turnbow's fastball and Turnbow's breaking ball, by themselves, aren't that great. Together, they become devastating. If one isn't working, the other loses effectiveness and he becomes hittable. I think it's the same with Wise. Hitters know his changeup is coming the same that they know Turnbow's breaking ball is coming. It's the fact that they have to protect against other pitches that makes them effective.
  3. For one, the ability to spot the fastball. It doesn't need to register at 95 to be effective. Real Estate and pitching have 1 thing in common... It's like Turnbow. His breaking ball is average at best but when he can get it over, it becomes devastating. When he can't, his 97mph fastball becomes a meatball.
  4. I'm probably just naive and idealistic here, but I think people should bust it until it bounces on the other side of the wall. Billy will fix this. He's too hard of a worker to let this become a pattern. I've never hit a walkoff HR in a MLB game. I might want to stand back and watch it go but like it has been said, that could have totally changed the outcome. HUSTLE OUT OF THE BOX!
  5. I'm sick of close plays at second base because of the coveted home run pose. Not just with Billy but all of baseball. Every time A-Rod hits one, he glances at his dugout with his hands up as if to say, "Do you like me now? Please!" You're paid to hit the ball and you don't need to act like you've just saved the world cause you hit one out. It's now spreading to pitchers who have strikeout dances. Annoying.
  6. I didn't pay it much attention but it sat in the back of my mind. I thought of it when I saw this post and thought I'd throw it out there. I said all of the things that are posted here.
  7. Someone at work told me that if they continue to have problems, they've talked about doming it off and putting turf in. Any validity to that? I can't tell you what that would do to my soul...
  8. If you vote more than 25 times in a day, do they just stop counting them? I've been getting my 25/day in. They'll let you keep going but I don't want to waste my time.
  9. I just scared the crap out of my dog. I'm in the living room with a walkman on and randomly (to her) jumped up and clapped my hands!
  10. He didn't used to do that posing garbage, did he? I love Billy but he needs to knock that off!
  11. http://i183.photobucket.com/albums/x202/bwucinski/e47750c322a145218ab828f847b3d71c.jpg
  12. How many people do you think bought Fielder jerseys today?
  13. Since Bill isn't here today as well, I was wondering what would happen if they took Miller out of the lineup and put Estrada in--do we have another backup?
  14. Was totally baffled by this til I watched Sportscenter. My vent is for the guard who stopped the fan--can't you be 2 steps later? Seriously, though, that may have been the play of the year. I think you should be allowed to humiliate idiots who do stuff like that. Tar and feathering...whatever. My sincerest hat's off on one of the best tackles I've seen in a while.
  15. Fielder and Cordero are in. Sheets now puts himself in position with a (sloppy) win tonight. It'll be hard to snuff him with 1 more solid outing. I don't think Hardy has a chance.
  16. I think this thread gets at the root of it. It's funny how rigid Yost is with the bullpen and loose with the lineup. Outside of Cordero being the closer, I'm not sure anyone should be an automatic in any situation. Both Villy and Turnbow have times where they fit. The one thing I'd like to see more of moving forward is a short leash when T-bow starts throwing the ball all over the joint. It's just ironic how you can't mess with the 8th, 9th thing but you can change the lineup every day.
  17. Do you have an option of what box you get it out of when you go in? The only retro I've ever gotten was when I went with my brother-in-law. I let him go in early with my ticket because he had to pee. He's a Cubs fan... He gets the Cooper retro and won't give it to me. I went to their house last week and it's sitting in the box on the floor behind his bar...
  18. Edit--No longer need them.
  19. If there's anything good I can say, it's that I believe things truly cannot get any worse. Mired in the middle of a slump, the Brewers are no hit. Their closer blew 2 saves on a road trip. Hard hit balls are seeming to find a glove on every play and the calls seem to be rolling with the other team (take the non-strike 3 call in Texas vs JV's strike zone in the ninth). Short of Braun, Fielder and Hardy colliding in the middle of the diamond causing season ending injuries to them all, I can't see the basement getting any lower. They HAVE to get better!
  20. Great seats available right off the Brewers website including DB if you're looking to spend that much. Probably not going to do a whole lot better than face value.
