  1. I would still like someone to explain to me if you are Burnes or Woody, why would you sign an extension with Milwaukee? They know in 2 years' time or maybe 1 year that they will either be traded or hit the FA market and will get paid (probably more than the Brewers can or be willing to pay) and be on an organization that probably is better suited (or serious about) winning a WS. Everyone on this board acts like the extension are completely controlled by the Brewers and players have no say in it. If I'm either of them or any impact FA, no way to I even consider Milwaukee even if Mark ponies up the money and blows all other offers off the table. I mean Bob Uecker goes only so far.
  2. I know the offseason has just started and I know the Brewers might make some more moves to improve the roster so before anybody jumps down my throat, I acknowledge that. I doubt it but I acknowledge it. But if Perkins and Singleton are on the OD roster and they make no moves to actually improve the roster, then this FRANCHISE is pathetic. The OWNERSHIP group is pathetic. And I am pathetic for following them.
  3. Okay I'll let it go and see what the next several weeks bring.

  5. I think one thing we have to remind ourselves is that the ability to sign Burnes and/or Woodruff is not completely in the Brewers hands. Even if MA comes up with the money to push the budget out to get a bite of the apple, Burnes and/or Woodruff might not be interested in signing a long term deal in Milwaukee. You already have some players publicly questioning the FO/Ownership group of their true desire to "win" after some of their decisions last season. If some of them are saying this in public god only knows what they are saying in private. In my opinion adding Singleton to the 40 man and implying that he will play a role at the major league level(because they actually believe he will move the needle) is not the way to show to anyone that Brewers are serious about ending 53 year drought of not winning a WS or ending the 40 pennant drought. It might be insurance just in case something that are planning doesn't work out but I doubt it. Friday now to me will be a clear sign on how the rest of this off season will be.

  7. He is not a power bat. When he does make contact it sometimes goes over the fence. The most HR he has in the majors is 14 and that was 8 years ago. He had 24 against AAA arms last year which is one of his better HR marks but he K way too often. Which I guess is perfect with what the Brewers look for in an offensive player. So yeah, perfect fit.

  9. I know which scares me more and more on how this FO (DS and now MA) builds and understands offensive roster construction. Surely, we can do better than this. What conceivable scenario does any team, with post season and or WS (use that very loosely) aspirations have Singleton on the roster? I cannot believe that they are going to run out the same team and have another reclamation project. I was okay with Singleton on a minor league deal sitting in AAA (he didn't even have a great year in AAA, yeah he walked a bit had a few HR's and a lot of K's) but this addition to the 40 man just makes madder (or is it sadder?) than it should, I guess.

  11. There is no way Turner comes to Milwaukee even if MA finds the money which is a big IF.

  13. For me is that you didn't need to add him to the 40 man roster. We already have him on a minor league deal. This now becomes a major league deal. The FO added him to protect him from the rule 5 draft. You only do that if you already planning to use Singleton at the major league level. (why you would think that anyone else would pick him up in the rule 5 after not playing in the majors for the last 8 years is beyond me).

  15. I think this is all moot now with Singleton on the 40 man roster now and some of MA comments. The Brewers are going to go with Tellez/Singleton at 1B/DH. Seems to me that they are not going to be looking for any outside offensive help at these positions. They feel Singleton K rate will be a great asset to get us to the top spot of leading the NL in strikeouts. Bonus is that Singleton hasn't played in the majors for the last 8 years (perfect fit for the mantra of the franchise...Is Axford still around?) but when you have the opportunity to add that quality of a player you push the budget out and take a bite of the apple. Who needs Abreau or Bell.

  17. I agree. I just hope this isn't a sign of how they are going to handle this offseason roster construction. Arnolds comments seem to imply that he will have time at the majors platooning with Tellez.

  19. One of the best early Brewers. I only saw him at the end of his career with KC and then Seattle.
