According to the Brewers Website Mark is the Chairman and Principal Owner. That's who I think we should hear from. Not asking the team to be the Mets or Padres or even have a top 5 payroll. League average would be nice. They can't spend like the Mets but they can spend more than they can.

I'd like to add to your list of questions if I may. There were years in the middle 2000's when we also didn't spend. The reasoning was to be financial flexible at a later date. Where did that money go. Excellent post and subject.

The Ownership Group and FO maintain that they want to bring a WS to Milwaukee. Which means you have to win the pennant. The roster and moves made by both this offseason will not lead to this. Brewers are fortunate to be in the NL Central where they façade of being competitive is huge, However with a balanced schedule this year things will be different. Anything above 83 wins will be a miracle. Only way Crew makes playoffs in the near future is if the MLB adds more teams to the mickey mouse playoff brackets. This is the beginning of the end.

San Diego a small market. Good to see an ownership group invest in the team and ballpark to generate multiple streams of revenue that goes back into the team. A city and market that is shadowed by LA. Meanwhile, lets play xgolf and have a tailgate in a parking lot.

I'm the opposite. MLB is to blotted now. Time for a diet. There are to many owners and markets that will not spend to compete or cry poverty. Milwaukee being one of them. MLB should end the National and American Leagues and contract teams. Make one league. Move KC, Milw, Oak, Pit etc to AAA. Make the MLB 16 to 18 teams in two divisions. With the winners of the division or top two in each playing a playoff run for the WS. Eliminate this current mickey mouse playoff system that gives the illusion of being able to compete. With reduced teams only the top players will be on each roster and most of the roster fillers will be in the minors. Just think of all the prospects this board can follow then. Time to end the era of just participating trophy's and banners. I realize this will never happen as long as fans in these markets are willing to buy the front office message.

Individual teams that have spent money may not have won the WS but you have to go back to 2003 to see a team that won a WS with a bottom half payroll in the MLB. Baseball economics has changed and what you are going to have for the next 10 years is 4 or 5 teams that are going to try and outspend each other for the best players. The MLB will eventually become like the EPL with the same 4-6 teams always in the playoffs. MLB will water down the playoffs to give the illusion of being able to compete for a championship but even that will not help other than to keep allowing the "small" market owners to keep playing the game of not spending. Can this ownership group spend like the Yankees or Mets? No. But it can spend more than it does. Miley and Anderson are not the FA signings for a ownership group that says it wants to win a WS. This ownership group actions speak for itself. You only have to take the Burnes arbitration. The difference between the two is petty in terms of MLB money. This ownership group not agreeing to Burnes numbers shows to Corbin and all the other MLB players how cheap this ownership group is. I'm sure in 4 months time when he is traded we will get some top "prospect" or something that we can develop and lose in 4 years time again. In some ways this franchise is a perfect investment for MA. Bought cheap sell high. Most of the fanbase has bought the message of "small" market, To be fair think most Brewer fans have Stockholm syndrome. So he doesn't have to spend and he can reap the profits when he sells in 5 years time. The only point of the Brewer franchise is to fill out the schedule for the other teams. We exist to sign, develop, and then let those players win WS for other teams. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. This franchise will never win a WS as long as has this ownership group. However I'm sure they will raise a banner for having 8th most wins or some participation trophy for just taking part. 2023 We Played a 162 Games. Can't wait for the 10 year anniversary.

Nope. He is just another GM that failed to bring a WS championship to Milwaukee. Not all his fault. Need ownership group that wants to win rather than hoping to win but he is just another name on a long list. Fans will go on about how this is the Golden Era and made playoffs gizillion years in a row or something like that but at the end of the day we lost the last game of the season. However he is a good GM that maximises $/win which judging by most of the posters on this board is more important than actually winning. Can't wait till Burnes gets traded in July everyone will go ballistic over the "prospects" the Crew get.

Nope. By the trade deadline this season, Burnes, Woody, and Willy will all be gone regardless of where the Brewers are at in the standings next season. Hopefully, they go to a team that I don't hate to begin my next phase of my fandom.
