  4. Sunday 6/15: Postgame analysis after the 3-2 win over STL: Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast with Curt Hogg & JR Radcliffe: "An eventful week of Brewers baseball included a 4-3 record, including a thrilling debut for top prospect Jacob Misiorowski, who worked five no-hit innings in a 6-0 win. His arrival also meant an abrupt departure for Aaron Civale, traded to the White Sox after expressing dissatisfaction with his move to the bullpen. Plus: The Brewers may have just been right about Quinn Priester. The confusing nature of Freddy Peralta. The continued struggles of Joey Ortiz. An offense that still needs a spark. In Three Up Three Down (47:00), there's some tension in a battle with the Cardinals, Sal Frelick's screamer and Abner Uribe continues to shine. In Remembrew When (1:03:30), a look back to the 1980s and perhaps the buzziest pitching debut in franchise history. Curt Blanche (1:08:00) tackles a popular food item. Then, JR sits down with Jacob Misiorowski himself (1:15:15), talking his memories growing up watching the Royals, Miz the wrestler, the Futures Game, draft night and how he tops that first outing. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final, Game One: Biloxi 7, Chattanooga (Reds) 2 Box Score and Game Log Final, Game Two: Chattanooga 5, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Adams Ties Franchise Record in Shuckers Doubleheader Split Against Lookouts - Adams ties Tyler Black, reaches base in 35th consecutive game, Murray records three-hit game Will 21-year-old (just turned 21 in April) Luke Adams and his .924 OPS be higher than his current 20th spot on BrewerFanatic's Top Prospect Ranking next time around? Voting is open so influence the vote as you wish. Adams singled and was hit by pitch for the 19th time in 2025 in the opener, and then walked three times in the nightcap. lifting his OBP to .435, by far 1st in the Southern League and 2nd in all of AA to Cardinals' infield prospect and 2024 7th overall draft pick JJ Wetherholt at .437. Wetherholt plays in the much more offense-conducive Texas League. Adams' .924 OPS tops the Southern League as well, with teammate Brock Wilken not far behind at .914. No other Southern League batter is within .100 points of OPS from Adams. Wilken walked and drove in a run in the opener and doubled twice in Game Two. Manager Joe Ayrault utilized his bench to maximize days of rest - the five players to start both games were Adams, Wilken, Cooper Pratt, Luis Lara, and Zavier Warren. We'll see if any of those core five stalwarts are rested on Sunday. Pratt reached base five times on the night - remember, each game went only seven innings. While Lara only singled once, he was contributing in his usual manner: You'll find two other Lara highlights and see contributions from others at the Shuckers' "X" feed this AM. Coleman Crow tossed six innings of two run ball (one walk, six K's) as the 24-year-old is about to get the first taste of AAA in his career. Alexander Cornielle's outing was much more uneven than that of his fellow righty Crow. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Great Lakes (Dodgers) 9, Wisconsin 2 Box Score and Game Log Loons Stop Rattlers with Seventeen Strikeouts - Wisconsin officially eliminated from playoff contention for the first half For LHP Sam Garcia (8th round, 2024, Oklahoma State), the second start in a Timber Rattler uniform did not go as well as the first. It required 88 pitches to navigate four innings. The Great Lakes "X" feed provides four highlights with Garcia on the mound - you'll see three breaking pitches and one fastball from Garcia, but you'll also view tentative/awkward play from left fielder Tayden Hall in two instances. Hall has only eight career starts in left, this was the third of 2025, and it showed Saturday night. Ironically, Hall yanked his first home run of the season in the 2nd inning, but that high did not carry over into the field. It was 9-1 Loons when Eduardo Garcia put together yet another power swing, but it's still worth a look: With 17 K's of Rattler batters, one would figure there'd be a golden sombrero in the building. Actually, there were two. We'll let you peek at the box score as we try to accentuate positive vibes here when possible. Now would be a good time to learn about the origins of the "golden sombrero" term (Wikipedia tells us), though it seems to me that a paper sombrero would be more appropriate than the big value of a golden version: It would appear that Marco Dinges' exit after six innings was due to the lopsided score. Juan Baez grounded out softly to the 3rd baseman for the 2nd out in the top of the 3rd and was ejected when he disputed the call (he was safe, by the way). The Great Lakes broadcast team gave us good looks not only on the play but the discussion afterwards. Baez kept things relatively cool, but apparently the toss came when he made reference that this was the 2nd mistake by the umpire. Subscribers can watch it here at the 01:53:00 hour/minute mark. This was MiLB's "Free Game of the Day", but it's likely not free at the link. You can try, however. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final, Lynchburg (Guardians) 7, Carolina 5 Box Score and Game Log Lynchburg Rallies Past Mudcats Never take for granted what we get video-wise from all four full-season affiliates, and then the BrewersPD "X" feed on top of that. I say that because the Lynchburg Hillcats X feed has been idle for over a year now. Not ideal for Guardians fans. Despite the loss, we'll post one of the highlights the Mudcats culled from this road game: The 19-year-old switch-hitting Di Turi is one interesting cat (pun intended). He's slugging .457 in 57 Mudcats games in 2025 after slugging (non-slugging?) .233 in 66 games last summer post-promotion from Maryvale. He's striking out in a reasonable 23.4% of his plate appearances given the power jump and is walking at a 13.3% rate. He's not a basestealer (3-for-7 in attempts this season), but it appears he's comfortable at each of the infield spots west of first base (third base on Saturday). He also doubled earlier in the game and is a fun development story thus far, though let's not forget Di Turi was a $1.3 million bonus baby in 2023. Just a few names for you to ponder as you watch Luis Pena beat out an infield single that he probably had no right to. Outside of the June 7th game we had hoped would be a breakout, the Braylon Payne (0-for-4, two K's on Saturday) game log screen is not pretty as of late, while the splits for May / June emphasize that. RHP Chandler Welch worked through five innings nicely, but the bottom of the 6th did not go well from any standpoint. Final: ACL Giants 2, ACL Brewers 1 Box Score and Game Log Garrett Mitchell started in center field and played defense through five innings. He struck out twice, looking to lead off the game and then swinging in the 3rd. He was pinch hit for by Jadyn Fielder in the 6th (Fielder fanned in both his at-bats on the day - give the leadoff spot a paper sombrero!). Blake Perkins started in right field and remained on defense through four frames. The switch-hitter also had two trips to the plate - groundout to short in the 1st and again in the 4th, each time against a different southpaw Giants hurler. A-Crew pitching was brilliant through eight innings in this road contest. 18-year-old Venezuelan LHP Enderson Mercado tossed five scoreless, while fellow 18-year-old Mexico native RHP Carlos Carra faced one over the minimum (HBP) in his three innings. Review the game log to see how a very sloppy 9th inning led to a walkoff loss. Sigh... Promising 18-year-old LH OF bat Handelfry Encarnacion last played on June 5th. Final: DSL Tampa Bay 11, DSL Brewers Blue 0 Box Score and Game Log Weather: 81 degrees, Sunny. Wind: 1 mph, Calm. There's your highlight! ? Actually, there are three elements of note: 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Luis Velasquez' 2nd professional outing (and start) was quite nice, one run in five innings. 18-year-old OF Carlos Done already has three assists in his first eight games, two outs at third base from left field on this night. And whoa, 19-year-old 2nd year pro Justin Lugo made his position player debut, batting 3rd (2-for-4 including a double), and he was behind the plate for the entire game! Lugo had already made five relief appearances since the opening of the DSL season, including the day prior on Friday. He has a 5.40 ERA in 14 games on the mound (two starts, 20 innings total) between 2024-25. Will we find out this was all an MiLB computer error? We'll see... Final: DSL Orioles Orange 14, DSL Brewers Gold 12 Box Score and Game Log Neither team scored in the 1st, 2nd or 9th innings of this game. Otherwise, yeah, it was pretty wild. On the mound, six G-Crew pitchers saw action and two were the primary victims, 2nd-year RHP Wandy Cabrera and rookie RHP Albert Vargas in his 2nd pro outing. Congratulations to 2nd-year player Jonathan Rangel (played first base here but has an interesting defensive history) on his first pro home run. The LH-swinging Rangel has seven base hits in his first seven games of 2025, and six have gone for extra bases. He's walked five times (six K's) and sports a .900 SLG and 1.362 OPS, that'll play! 17-year-old bonus baby Kenny Fenelon continues to fill the box score in all kinds of ways - single, walk, RBI, HBP, SB, outfield assist, and three K's. I'd love to break down this game further, but as you've just read, I've already invested much of my Father's Day morning into seven games here (thank you, Mother Nature on the AAA level!). Have at it at the box score further. It's all afternoon action on Sunday, and as per usual, the complex leagues are closed so players can hit the beaches and hotel pools. 12. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: 1B Andrew Vaughn optioned to Nashville Sounds. OF Drew Avans recalled to Milwaukee from Nashville Sounds. RHP Grant Anderson recalled to Milwaukee from Nashville Sounds. RHP Derlin Garcia signed and assigned to DSL Brewers Gold. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 6, Norfolk (Orioles) 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds End Slide with 6-4 Win on Friday Night - Dunn Has Three Hits, Henderson Wins Seventh in a Row I've seen multiple comments about the roster machinations via the arrival of newly acquired Andrew Vaughn on Nashville's Tyler Black and Ernesto Martinez, Jr. Another name sure to be impacted is Wes Clarke, already limited to 46 of the Sounds' 66 games thus far. Clarke and Black were idle for this one, and Vaughn has yet to suit up, There will need to be a roster move Saturday as there are 16 active pitchers currently, including Easton McGee, returning from his brief big-league stint. Even with Vaughn's imminent arrival, there will be 13 position players, which is likely ideal vs. the 15 pitchers that will take the roster to the 28-player AAA maximum. Another player on the bench for this one was red-hot Anthony Seigler (when was he last not red-hot?). We need to remember that Seigler is also the #2 catcher on this team, and he can't be expected to play every day, as much as we'd like to see that. Ten base hits from the bottom five in the order, led by Oliver Dunn's three singles. Recently dropped down in the lineup, one had to wonder just how tenuous Dunn's 40-man roster status had become given his sub-.600 OPS struggles. Two doubles were among the nine hits allowed by Logan Henderson in his 5.1 innings, though clearly, he limited the damage. Henderson threw 80 pitches (53 strikes). The Brewers are playing Henderson's development perfectly given his low inning counts in prior seasons. I listen to enough of the many archived audio links we point you to daily to hear folks clamoring for Logan's MLB return sooner rather than later. There was never a scenario where he'd become ensconced in the 2025 MLB rotation every five days. Now, come August / September? Sure, let's talk then. Pretty easy to see Elvis Peguero having trade value as part of a larger deal with a contender come deadline time. You'll find three video highlights this AM at the Sounds' "X" feed. Postponed, Biloxi at Chattanooga (Reds), rain Doubleheader Saturday evening. Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 6, Great Lakes (Dodgers) 4 Box Score and Game Log Emotions Run High in Rattlers Win at Great Lakes - Wisconsin frustrates Loons with 6-4 victory Another fine write-up via Voice of the Timber Rattlers Chris Mehring. The visual of what Chris described, Spencer commented further within the thread here: For every instance in which Yerlin Rodriguez flashes Abner Uribe promise, there are many more instances when we are left shaking our heads. Now three games over .500, remarkably if the T-Rats and Mudcats were magically placed in the same level/division, the Muddies (more on them below) would only hold a three-game lead over Manager Victor Estevez's squad. All four Brewers full-season affiliates are now over .500. It sure seems like Marco Dinges is the magic elixir. Carolina was 26-12 after Dinges' final Carolina League game. Since Dinges joined Wisconsin, the Rattlers are 16-6. So, Marco and his 1.002 season-long OPS has enjoyed a 2025 42-18 record in uniform! The Brewers placed 20-year-old LHP Anthony Flores in Wisconsin to start the season despite only seven appearances (three starts) with Carolina last season. Bingo! This organization hits so often on their projections. Flores trending very well to be sure. Both the Victor Estevez and Blake Burke interviews within are worth your time: Another three highlights at the "X" feed. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final, Lynchburg (Guardians) 6, Carolina 2 Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Drop Series at Lynchburg OK, so it's not a full-fledged panic button, but there's a need to stem the tide here. Nine baserunners for Carolina, but this was the only XBH. Elaine Benes may like exclamation points, but when one is utilized when the deficit is cut to three in the 8th inning, that pretty much indicates how things have been going. No Eric Bitonti for a consecutive game, he last played Wednesday. Braylon Payne, Luis Pena and Made each had one base hit, but with the lower half of the lineup as it's currently constructed, if the upper half isn't raking (as was seen for weeks on end in April and the first half of May - oh, that's right, the Dinges effect), then there's going to be an overall struggle. Payne thrown out on a steal attempt for a 6th time, he's now exactly at a 75% success rate (18-for-24). Can't dip below that. Made, DH'ing here, is 25-for-29 after his successful swipe here. By the way, Lynchburg is now 39-22. That factors into the equation. The piggyback southpaw duo of Wande Torres and Bjorn Johnson combined to allow 11 baserunners in six innings, with each allowing a double. Johnson's line looks fine, but he allowed two of Torres' runners to score. The only Carolina fielding error was late by yet another lefty, Anfernny Reyes, so it's not as if the lineup collapsed Friday night, just not getting it done overall. Final: ACL Rockies 4, ACL Brewers 3, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Yet another seven-inning Friday night affair. It's the weekend, the kids can stay up late! 102 degrees at first pitch, but still... Oh, and this was a walkoff loss. Second-year 18-year-old RHP Ayendy Bravo, who was promoted to Maryvale after one DSL appearance this season, allowed a single in the 5th and left the bases loaded in the 6th, but took the loss going for the save. There was a one-out double, then an infield single that did not advance the runner. Another infield single, deflected off Bravo, loaded the bases before a line drive single to right scored the tying and winning (losing) runs. It wasn't his sharpest outing (hardly a poor one Friday), but a look at 18-year-old RHP Tyler Renz' game log shows just how consistent the 2025 18th rounder (significant $852,500 signing bonus) has been. Final: DSL Padres Gold 5, DSL Brewers Blue 4 Box Score and Game Log Another walkoff defeat. It was a more classic complex league version of defeat here. Tied entering the 9th, The Blue Man Group went down meekly in the top of the frame. A one-out anti-rally consisting of a HBP, walk, wild pitch and a two-out ground ball single to right field ended things off second-year RHP Justin Lugo. Still 16 years old until July 24th, Dominican native RHP Steven Duran pitched a perfect inning in his pro debut, hopefully family was among the packed house at the Padres' complex. Likewise, 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Merwin Manrique (18 next month) also tossed a scoreless frame in his pro debut, yet his was much more adventurous, as it included a two-out sequence that went walk - single - HBP before a fielder's choice ended the frame. You'll see four doubles among the five Blue knocks in the box. Still so early, but $900,000 signing Brailyn Antunez (DH'ing here) is only 4-for-8 in SB attempts to go along with his very-early .555 OPS (43 plate appearances). Final: DSL Brewers Gold 4, DSL Guardians "Goryl" 1 Box Score and Game Log It was all about the pitching here, as you don't want to stare too long at the not-so-golden batting averages in the box score, though kudos are rightly due for plating four runs. Two 17-year-old arms did the heavy lifting, with both Raymond Sarmiento and Joan Pena each making their second pro appearances. We do have bonus info for Pena ($180,000), which is noteworthy as normally the Brewers don't splurge on international arms (actually that's the case through much of MLB). Top signing Kenny Fenelon ($1.3M) singled, was plunked twice, and stole two bases. 17-year-old Francis Sosa, a RH bat who signed for $200,000, has two solo home runs among his five base hits in 23 AB's. He's also walked four times, fanned on nine occasions, and is perfect in four stolen base attempts, adding up to a fun tiny-sample .901 OPS line of .217/.379/.522. The Biloxi doubleheader means there's a second consecutive Saturday schedule of eight games on tap. I'll have it documented for your Sunday breakfast. The three complex games are daytime affairs for you early box score analyzers. Enjoy your Saturday, dear readers!
