Via the Mudcats: OF Demetrio Nadal transferred from Carolina to ACL Brewers. Mudcats roster is currently at 25 active players and 4 players on the injured list. *** Carolina, if players were healthy and available, could max out at 30 for A-Ball under MiLB rules. -

Saturday 6/7: Via WSSP's "Lead Off Show": Brewer Fanatic's Spencer Michaelis talks prospects *** Sunday 6/8: Postgame analysis after the 1-0 loss to San Diego: Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "The offense endures a quiet weekend against San Diego, resulting in three shutouts and a consistent trend of a team that struggles to slug the baseball. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe look at how this team needs to improve; do they need to move in a different direction at shortstop? Third base? Plus: What's the latest in the long-gestating return of Brandon Woodruff after a freak setback during a rehab outing? Are we closer to Jacob Misiorowski arriving? Can Chad Patrick really win National League Rookie of the Year? When will Nestor Cortes return? Why doesn't Pat Murphy trust Aaron Ashby? Three Up Three Down (45:15) ponders Tyrese Haliburton, Wade Miley, a giant emu and JR's teenage son foreseeing a Caleb Durbin walk-off homer (and letting his father hear about it). Remembrew When looks back at 2013 when the tables were turned between the Reds and Brewers on a game-winning home-run theft (1:05:30) and Curt Blanche checks in on curious choices made by the Brewers in the pinch-running department (1:09:15). Then, JR catches up with the man of the hour, Caleb Durbin (1:15:30), discussing his Illinois roots, his time with fellow speed demons with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders, his wrestling background, the intense academic standards required to play for his DIII baseball program and his recent success. Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "Much Ado About Pinch Running - On this week's episode the guys recapped a 3-3 week, including a number of controversial managerial decisions by Pat Murphy, the status of the Hall/Priester piggyback and order of the rest of the pen." Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: N/A Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final, Game One: Nashville 1, Gwinnett (Braves) 0 Box Score and Game Log Final, Game Two: Nashville 4, Gwinnett 0 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds’ website, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Take Saturday Night Doubleheader in Shutout Fashion - Misiorowski and Henderson Earn Wins Brandon Woodruff. Aaron Civale. Jose Quintana. Nestor Cortes. Jacob Misiorowski. Logan Henderson. Tobias Myers. Add hopefully a healthy Carlos Rodriguez if you wish. The point is, along with Chad Patrick and Quinn Priester, the Brewers are wonderfully set up to backfill for 2026 and are set to be the envy of MLB front offices elsewhere with cost-and-term-controlled options. Similar to Friday's Carolina doubleheader, the Nashville roster was fully utilized with each position player starting one game. Sitting out the opener were Wes Clarke, Raynel Delgado, and Adam Hall. Idle in game two were Jeferson Quero, Anthony Seigler, and Freddy Zamora. Over the 12 combined innings in which they had at-bats (each game was a seven-inning contest), the Sounds managed just 13 baserunners, including just three in the one hour, 30-minute opener. The nightcap came in at exactly two hours. You'll find Oliver Dunn's critical Game One homer via the Nashville "X" feed, along with his Game Two jaunt around the bases thanks to Gwinnett misplays. Seigler played second base in the opener. I'm convinced that the organization can just taste exposing him to big-league play. It seems they'd make room for the INF/C on the 40-man if Brice Turang or Caleb Durbin were to be placed on the IL, even for a ten-day minimum. And interestingly, don't think that Jorge Alfaro would be the automatic response to a William Contreras or Eric Haase absence. This paragraph may be an off-base take on my part, but Seigler's sustained performance has just been insane. NOTE: Did you notice there is now a link for the Nashville Media Notes above? With the Sounds addressing that, all four affiliates now offer their respective treasure trove of notes to the diehards. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 8, Montgomery (Rays) 5 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Crow's Second Consecutive Dominant Start Leads Shuckers to 8-5 Win - Wilken, Miller, Adams all homer as Shuckers push division lead to 5.0 games Letting you all know in advance that RHP Coleman Crow will not be on the list of November names that the Brewers have to consider for 40-man roster addition to ensure protection from Rule 5. That's because Crow will already be on the 40-man. Why? Because he'll be added in October to prevent him from reaching minor league free agency. Looking back, it's to the Brewers benefit that Crow was not able to come back sooner in 2024 from his Tommy John rehab, or that his stint in the Arizona Fall League wasn't more eye-opening. If the now-24-year-old had flashed his current brilliance late in 2024, there's a strong potential he would have forced the organization to invest a 40-man spot over the past offseason and utilize his first minor league option in 2025. The Adrian Houser (hey, so happy for what Houser's doing with the White Sox currently, by the way) / Tyrone Taylor deal is looking to be amazingly prescient on Matt Arnold's part. Look for a Crow interview segment at the tail end of this WLOX highlight package. Luke Adams did not register enough support in our Brewer Fanatic prospect voting posted on May 1st to land in the Top 20. Guessing that would not be the case next time around with his current .913 OPS : It's a fantastic morning to review the Shuckers' "X" timeline for additional video. Not turning 21 years old until August, but at some point, we need to take a deeper dive into Cooper Pratt's lack of production (0-for-5 here). Referring again to media notes, this Biloxi issue is in the glorious teal of the "Beach Chickens" motif. I 100% am going to treat myself ASAP to the amazing Seagull merchandise choices before we get too deep into the summer. For the Mrs., the "Women's Rocker Razorback Tank" looks incredible. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 3, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 2 Box Score and Game Log Wisconsin Wins on Walkoff Wild Pitch Reminder for the kids - why do they call it a "walkoff"? Shouldn't it be a "bounce-off" or some other celebratory word? No, my child, it's because as the home team euphoria is taking place, the opponent is forced to wallow in defeat and "walk off" the field. True personal anecdote here from Saturday night. I had been occupied with other activities early in the evening and had DVR'd the Brewers game. As I prepared to start the Crew's game from the top, I began my Link Report prep by checking in on the affiliates' scores via the MiLB app. Seeing that the T-Rats were tied heading into the bottom of the 9th, I immediately pulled up the club's live feed. Voice of the Rattlers Chris Mehring right away mentioned in passing that the Brewers were up 3-1 in their own bottom of the 9th. OK, one does their best to avoid the DVR'd score, but there's always a risk, so I then knew where to join the big-league game. As it turns out, I got to enjoy two near-simultaneous walk-offs via multiple screens and avoided the tedious first six innings of the MLB affair. There just aren't enough southpaws at the lower levels in recent years, it seems, so the fact that Venezuelan native Anthony Flores won't be 21 years old until October is a fun note. Blake Burke and Jadher Areinamo (who stole 32 bases in 40 tries in 2024) both stole their 7th base of 2025 in this game. Who has been caught stealing more often in 2025? Probably not who you might think. Areinamo four times, Burke three. There's no way Eduardo Garcia is a 40-man roster add in November, but the Brewers should start preparing their offer to him to remain a Brewer farmhand in 2026 and forego minor league free agency in October. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Charleston (Rays) 5, Carolina 2 Box Score and Game Log Charleston Claims Series from Mudcats Part of a much-needed three-hit game: We would share base hits from the other Mudcats, but THERE WERE NONE. Five Carolina players walked (Eric Bitonti twice), but still, yikes. Mudcat pitchers only allowed three earned runs, but issued 13 free passes (12 walks, one HBP). Considering he only turned 22 in March, one wonders if Tulane 2024 6th rounder Chandler Welch's initial placement in Wisconsin was misguided (well, it was but would he have benefitted from a start of the season in Carolina). Regardless, here or there, it's been a rough go, with the number of free passes matching his strikeout count (37 in 48.2 innings, 1.81 WHIP). 21-year-old LHP Anfernny Reyes allowed just one unearned run in his three innings of work. Jesus Made had the night off. Final: ACL Padres 8, ACL Brewers 7 Box Score and Game Log On the wrong end of this walk-off. Tyler Black, as the DH, homered and singled twice. Shortstop Kevin Ereu was on base four times (two singles, walk, HBP), sneaking his early-season OPS above the .500 mark (baby steps for the $1.4 million 2023 signing). RF Pedro Ibarguen continued his strong play, reaching thrice. All eight runs surrendered were earned, somehow four A-Crew errors didn't directly impact the scoreboard. Have to be happy for 21-year-old RHP Daurys Mora, now with six scoreless appearances spanning eight innings (13 K's, 4 BB's, 1 HBP), this after missing all of the past two seasons. In April, the Brewers identified 19-year-old RHP Cesar Espinal as the lottery ticket from Kansas City for Mark Canha. Espinal had spent three summers in the DSL, something the Brewers rarely see happen. Regardless, it's been a tough start to 2025 for Espinal. Final: DSL Guardians "Mendoza" 9, DSL Brewers Blue 3 Box Score and Game Log It was 7-0 before the Blue Boys broke the ice in the bottom of the 7th. Bonus baby Brailyn Antunez was caught stealing, and he's 2-for-4 in that regard in the early going. It's still early enough in the DSL season that we are sneaking in professional debuts - it was an uneven effort for 17-year-old Dominican RHP Johandry Ramirez, but you are now a pro, young man. Three hours and 49 minutes? No pitch clock, but still... Final: DSL Reds 8, DSL Brewers Gold 0, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Just-turned 19-years-old last month, Venezuelan RHP Albert Vargas made his own pro debut, getting three groundball outs after a leadoff double -- nice, congrats! Prized CF bonus baby Kenny Fenelon returned to the lineup after a brief absence, but was 0-for-3 with two K's. 18-year-old Jonathan Rangel saw action at four spots in 2024 (fielding stats here) but in a change for 2025, made his 2nd start at catcher. Still learning on the job, with three passed balls in this game. One wonders about who is official scoring these games, perhaps team members of the home organization. Whew! I survived our first eight-pack of games in 2025 and now wish Daniel well with 50% of that game action on Sunday. I'm looking forward to lefty Sam Garcia's Timber Rattlers debut and another Alexander Cornielle beauty in Biloxi. Have a great Sunday, everyone! Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: Nashville Sounds sent 3B Tyler Black on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Carolina Mudcats placed RHP Jack Hostetler on the 7-day injured list. RHP Ayendy Bravo assigned to ACL Brewers from DSL Brewers Blue. Postponed, Gwinnett (Braves) at Nashville, rain Doubleheader Saturday evening. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 5, Montgomery (Rays) 2 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Adams Three-Run Homer Stretches Shuckers Division Lead to Four - Shuckers topple Biscuits, 5-2, in dominant fashion Luke Adams turned 21 years old in April and he and his ,896 OPS gets more interesting every day. Look for an on-field postgame interview with Adams in this report: Catcher Matt Wood singled twice and stole two bases. Wood had seven steals in his previous 238 professional games. Starting RHP KC Hunt looks more like his 2024 self with each start, wouldn't mind seeing a six-inning effort again soon. 82 pitches here (53 strikes, only one walk), last went six on April 23rd (86 pitches). Tyler Bryant (monthly splits) has put a terrible April way, way in the rear-view mirror. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 3, Cedar Rapids (Twins) 2 Box Score and Game Log Guilarte’s Sacrifice Fly is Game-Winner for Wisconsin - Timber Rattlers celebrate fourth walkoff of the season with 3-2 win over Cedar Rapids We are being spoiled with Timber Rattlers media options as they are in the midst of a second consecutive home series. We'll miss this coming up with two back-to-back road matchups. Whether it's Chris Mehring (here) or Kyle Lobner, they always have good questions for Estevez, and the skipper likewise is solid with his responses. Enjoy his comments on LHP Jesus Broca in the latest chat. Have to love Jadher Areinamo completely unwinding himself on that HR yank down the left-field line. Goodness, he's so fun. Speaking of fun - Back to the highlights, the visual of the 6'3" Burke putting his arm around the 5'8" Areinamo after Jadher crossed the plate is a joyous reminder that baseball is a game available to all. As a name game aficionado, I appreciated the Jaron DeBerry / Kyle DeBarge matchups. They even lined up the capital letters. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final, Game One: Charleston (Rays) 8, Carolina 4 Box Score and Game Log Final, Game Two: Charleston 3, Carolina 0 Box Score and Game Log Charleston Sweeps Doubleheader from Mudcats Three losses in a row and the division lead is down to two games. All 13 position players on the roster started at least one game - the five players who played all 14 innings (two seven-inning contests): Jesus Made, Luis Pena, Eric Bitonti, Tyler Rodriguez, Luis Lameda. Lameda started both games at third base, giving him five starts there on the season, less than he has at second base (13) or left field (7). Lameda doubled twice in the opener. Rodriguez was 0-for-4 for the twinbill but walked in each game, since normally walks don't get you highlight reel moments, he did this: Made, Pena and Bitonti combined to go 2-for-19 (Made and Bitonti singles) with one walk (Bitonti) and eight K's (four for Bitonti). As usual, our forum "as it happens" thread had wonderful analytical contributions including @sveumrules on the Mudcats' big first baseman. The four pitchers who tallied at least 2.2 innings all struggled to some extent, although LHP Wande Torres at least limited the damage despite allowing nine baserunners in his 4.1 inning effort (RHP Jesus Flores stranded a Torres baserunner). This was only 19-year-old RHP Bryce Meccage's second appearance since May 7th (illness absence), but this outing was not nearly as strong as his one eight days prior. His five walks surpassed his previous rookie-year high by two. Meccage has allowed as many walks as base hits (16 each) in his 29.1 innings over nine starts. Limiting the hits is nothing new for Meccage, thus the 1.09 WHIP thus far. Final: ACL Guardians 3, ACL Brewers 1, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log 18-year-old LHP Enderson Mercado (a young 18, the Venezuelan native's birthday was in March) was cruising until midway through the 4th inning, having retired his first ten batters. But my goodness, although all three Guardian runs in the 4th were earned, it was an ugly inning for catcher Kevin Garcia - a ground ball single surrendered by Mercado essentially turned into a triple after two stolen bases. Following a walk to put runners on the corners, a passed ball by Garcia allowed the first tally. Garcia then dropped a foul pop up for an error (though the batter only subsequently reached on a fielder's choice out). After another stolen base and an HBP, Mercado was victimized by two ground ball RBI singles. Although it didn't add to the scoring, Garcia capped the nightmare frame with a catcher's interference error. I suppose I could have had you all just review the game log in detail! The A-Crew managed only three hits and two walks, though one of the knocks was the first stateside home run for OF Pedro Ibarguen, leading off and playing center field here. In Ibarguen's first ACL season in 2024, he only managed two XBH's in 114 AB's, a SLG of .184, which needless to say, is not a pretty number. This video goes back to 2023, which helps explain why the organization is sticking with the young man despite a modest $60,000 signing bonus. They are being rewarded with an .894 OPS in the still-small 16-game 2025 sample. Final: DSL Brewers Blue 8, DSL Dodgers "Mega" 4 Box Score and Game Log What a fantastic professional debut for 17-year-old Nicaraguan native RHP Diustin Mayorquin - 5 IP, 2H (both singles), 1 BB, 4K. He signed for only $27,500. The offensive star was 17-year-old Dominican native SS Leonard Rijo, who has started each of the team's four games thus far (one at second base). Rijo tripled, singled, and walked twice. Rijo was a $175,000 signee in January. Catcher Johanderson Tarazona (80-grade name), a switch-hitting 17-year-old out of Venezuela, singled twice and walked, though he was also caught stealing. As is often the norm, the Blue Crew found themselves handed free passes, as they drew nine walks and were plunked twice. Brewer pitchers combined to walk six and HBP two. Prized bonus baby CF Kenny Fenelon did not play in a 2nd consecutive game. Let the over-analysis handwringing begin (actually, don't). Final: DSL Cubs Blue 3, DSL Brewers Gold 2 Box Score and Game Log The dreaded Blueish-tinged Cublets pushed ahead the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th on what proved to be the costliest moment within 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Raymond Sarmiento's otherwise sweet three-inning professional debut - a wild pitch with two out that moved the baserunner (single) into scoring position. A fly ball single to right field did the subsequent RBI damage. Starting 17-year-old Dominican southpaw Joan Pena ($180,000 bonus) had a fine pro debut of his own - five IP of two-run ball, 1 BB, 4 K. Shoutout to just-turned 17-year-old Venezuelan catcher Isais Chavez ($480,000 bonus) who has started three of the four Gold games thus far. Chavez homered and doubled (he had his first base knock, a single, earlier this week). 17-year-old Venezuelan RF Eryks Rivero ($300,000 bonus) had to leave the game after being plunked in the 9th inning. Transactions: Nashville Sounds sent 3B Tyler Black on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Hopefully OK. We tried to get an eight-pack of games in on Friday but the weather in Nashville said, "not yet". We get to try again on Saturday for our first eight-pack of 2025 (Sounds doubleheader).
