    I don’t have any interest in the other Contreras and don’t see it happening. They could come up with 40-50 million for some outside addition though easily. It’s your demeanor on here that comes off as middle school ish. Learn how to say, “I disagree” in a less confrontational way unless you are using this forum as a route to handle anger problems or something. Your vitriol toward posters that root like the dickens for the team you like is the only thing “weird”.

    Turbo is having a rough few weeks it appears and is probably going through some tough times right now. It’s normal to be aggressive and confrontational (for him) as a coping mechanism. Don’t let it get you down, Redd, and keep throwing out ideas for us to consider this off season. The rest of BF appreciates having ideas/players to think about.

    I have the same evidence you and any other posted here save one particular poster. He’s cheaper and good defensively and has more to offer offensively than he showed last year and is more controllable. Is that enough “nonsense” conjecture evidence for you? Did you have a bad day at work (assuming you work) and want to talk down to people for sharing ideas? Not the warmest poster on this site but that’s ok. Have a good night buddy.

    Bohm could make sense in a change of scenery type move. They’d like someone cheaper as they are too close if not over the tax. I don’t think we should do it but Phils probably would do Bohm for Ortiz straight up for those that seem to hate Ortiz on this site.

    Agreed. Vaughn gets 1B for next year at least other than potentially a Bauer type platoon mate.

    I tend to never get excited about inter-division teams players, as it’s just too rare imo to even discuss at any sort of length. Makes no sense but seems unlikely we’d be the “winning team “ of a Cruz trade if he’s out there this winter.

    I may have misunderstood you at first. I’d certainly tear up the 1/8 for a 3/55 if that’s on the table. I thought you meant more along the lines of 3/75 to get him thru 2028. That I wouldn’t do. My bad for not reading more carefully. This is worth exploring, though 1/8 and a comp pick or the right trade might still be the better move but that’s up to Arnold to decide. So, good post and yes it’s worth exploring those parameters.

    You could be right. Tommy John always has to throw his name in contact negotiations though too. If he gets hurt during the 1/8 final year or if he pitches like more of a 3/4 than a 1/2 in 2026, the security of locking in 50 million in 27 and 28 won’t look horrible. It’s worth offering anyway. Regardless, if you are right, the best solution is simple….trade him or enjoy his final year at 1/8 and take the comp pick. Because tearing up the 1/8 to give him a bigger extension into the future would not be wise at all imo.

    It’d have to be team friendly. I am not sure what that contract would look like. It would only be like a 1-2 year extension at best and again likely won’t happen, but I’d be happy to have him cheap for 1-2 years beyond club control if his value is as low as some on this forum feel (and I agree his value is lower than Brett Baty’s was a year ago for instance.

    I want the 1/8 for 2026 if we keep him. If he wants to extend years 2027 and 2028 at 50 million or something close to that, I suppose we could do that. But that’s a lot of money that might be better spent elsewhere. And im certainly not giving him a player option. A straight extension of 2/50 while keeping the 1/8 for 2026 isn’t super team friendly as is but likely just team friendly enough to warrant a serious discussion of a two year extension.

    This guy gets it. Approach Turang, sure, but if it’s not team friendly and he’s seeking 150M plus, our organization has to hope Made/Pena/Pratt etc are ready to be above average after Turang six years and happily take our comp pick if he’s deserving. Frelick we maybe can get done but that’s up to Arnold to pursue or not. I’d actually try lock Mitchell up with team options on the extension but nobody will agree so I digress. Contreras also has been awesome but the path forward is to enjoy his goodness, take the comp pick, and give Quero/Perez the chance to be even better.

    Well said. Could we win a WS with Peralta next year in what we all agree will be his final year in mil? Yes. Could we win a WS next year without him, yes. We need to maximize assets literally at all times if the goal is to improve our chances of winning a WS the next ten years.

    My quote on the last post failed on me, but does he mean for Freddy to play it the 1/8 as is while getting a 2/50 extension for 27 and 28? Or does he mean chop up the 1/8 and give Peralta a 2/50 covering 26/27? Because that second option is ludicrous.

    Not lo pile on more, but i could be wrong on them. That said, his bat might be a difference maker in the post season and if my 8 million and no prospects dealt estimate is somewhat accurate, maybe a year from now you’ll see how he fits a World Series team more than re arranging other deck chairs.

    The absolute perfect signing is the best bat we can afford, which is Ozuna. His best position is probably DH, yes. Yelich would have to play left and Contreras catch quite a bit.

    I’ve been on this site for 25 years since before WOAH SOlVD or whatever it was, and I know people here don’t like Ozuna, but this is the absolute perfect signing for us this off season for roughly 1-8. This bat would help the lineup at a value imo.

    Arnold might not accept a Sproat/Tong and Baty for Peralta deal for our side but Stearns would for the Mets guaranteed.

    Id counter that us adding one or two 15-20 prospects is closer to fair value than us NOT getting two 50-75 prospects in the deal. Keep in mind an extension with the Mets is possible to be agreed upon just before a hypothetical trade occurs, thus improving our compensation package. You make sure and get Baty or Williams and one of the three pitchers in any Mets/Peralta deal.

    While the Mets would 100% trade Baty and his under .750 OPS for a year of a Freddy Peralta with whom they have a great chance of resigning, I’ll play along and pretend you are right. I still would trade Peralta for one of the three aforementioned pitchers along with infield prospect Jett Williams.. So whichever of Williams and Baty they want to deal us along with one of those three pitchers is a workable deal for both sides.

    Peralta to the Mets for Baty and one of Tong/McLean/Sproat might be something the Mets would do that could interest the Brewers too.

    Jordan Lawler would be one guy to look at in some type of a Peralta trade.

    At this point, I’d actually embrace the “bites at the apple” even more after seeing how night and day better the Dodgers appear to be than any team in baseball. Let’s deal Peralta for more talent and still make the playoffs and keep making the playoffs the next six years. Do that and we will likely be in the World Series one of the next six years. That’s how I’m leaning and looking at as the best path forward for this organization after seeing how good the Dodgers are at this present year.

    Theoretically, AZ got prospects back in the Naylor and Suarez deals and should be able to deal Lawler plus for Peralta plus
