  1. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=11334 Not a subscriber so I can't see the whole thing. Cora is the only Brewers candidate in the "free" section.
  2. We should go after the last page blank when you click on the baseball issue
  3. I agree. I'm excited about most of these candidates other than Melvin, and Valentine doesn't do too much for me either. Maybe I'm just too hungry for new blood. Here's my current top guys: 4. Roenicke3. Listach2. Cora1. Wallach
  4. He's put up good numbers in 702 PA's at the AAA level... .293.375.489.864there's some evidence to support including him as a part of that lineup. Not a be all, end all; but better than going on a small sample size of extremely part-time at bats for bad stats like RISP and late game AB's.
  5. I'm sure if I could read that chart I would see PA numbers too low to form any solid conclusions on.
  6. I would only give up good prospects IF the extension was a done deal; which would be extremely unlikely, so basically I would be opposed to this move.
  7. Its pretty interesting....the easiest way to "hack" someones account is to use the same computer if they haven't logged out. Wonder if someone at the JS was trying to make him look bad?
  8. sleep paralysis happens to me all the time. It sucks. Especially when I'm breathing in "used" air from having my face near the pillow or under the blanket....feels like I'm suffocating. The worst is that sometimes I get what feels like electric shocks and my 1/4 sleeping brain thinks I'm touching an outlet or a power chord. I also hear distinct voices in this state. Not sure of the medical reason for this; but I imagine my body produces too much of the stuff that keeps you from sleep walking, or doesn't know when to stop producing it. Otherwise I'm totally normal. I promise.
  9. If I was grading the brewers? Yes I would. I would try to find more substantive ways to evaluate their performance.
  10. I wasn't disputing the grades. I was referring to MNBrew's use of the word "trend" to describe Fielder's BARISP.
  11. From the dictionary: "trend = the general course or prevailing tendency; drift" and no, 146 AB's is not enough evidence to support a trend.
  12. Its impossible to distinguish "trends" in 150 PA's
  13. If Prince would have had 1 more texas leaguer fall or get through the shift per month with a runner in scoring position his BARISP would have been about .290
  14. no, I meant within the fan base, around the ballpark, etc...
  15. has anyone ever heard the label "team extreme" applied to the brewers by anyone other than Haundricourt? It feels like a force feed. I could be wrong...
  16. In order for brutal honesty to be a positive/effective tool, you have to have developed a relationship with the person you are being honest with/about. Macha admittedly did not start actively working on his relationships with players until the start of his second year. I would have written him off too. Say what you want about players doing their part and all that is true; but the tone for the team is set by the manager and its his job to get the best out of whatever players are given to him (even if they are somewhat immature and/or selfish). Macha's tone was has a one-word description: bleh, and he threw up his hands and made the "its a two-way street" excuse instead of getting the best out of them.
  17. I'm still hoping for a probability/stats computer. We could have a clubhouse manager responsible for workouts, practice, chemistry, etc... The computer could have a manager override for days off/injuries, and a general manager override for playing time for the purposes of development vs win now, building trade value, etc...
  18. I think Melvins behavior at the trade deadline shows that is exactly what it means. He seems determined to take the comp picks if all he gets are low-ball offers and I agree with him. Frankly, I think teams in need of offense at the first base position are fools not to do whatever it takes to get Fielder.
  19. Rickie could always take a walk. I'm not sure Gomez knows what those are.
  20. Has mound height been debunked?
  21. We have as much evidence to say Gamel has shot himself in the foot as to say the organization mishandled him....maybe more.
  22. Because we all know people without emotions (like Macha) don't laugh.
