  1. I think the disagreement probably comes in here. "Very special" will play anywhere (the usual "lower the supply at a postition the better" disclaimer still applies). They seem to project to be good hitting catchers; but look to probably be average or more likely below average at a position like first base. If they are "very special" the Brewers will find a place for both in the lineup or won't have a problem netting a big return in a trade thus shifting the talent to a position of need.
  2. definitely a cool dog shot; but an even better person action shot....what is that dude doing in the corner?
  3. If prince was going to NOT gamble, he should have not gambled years ago. At this point he and Boras roll the dice. I think the Weeks argument boils down to how much of a discount would we get? That depends on Weeks' risk aversion and how confident he is that he'll stay healthy from here on out. If he's willing to give us a nice discount now, sign him asap. If not, start preparing to plug a hole.
  4. I am not in favor of firing Melvin. I think he's done an above average job overall. I do hope that he starts relying on our farm system to plug holes and provide roster depth rather than signing expensive veterans that may or may not be crappy. That's one of the advantages of having a deep system and we have not taken advantage of it.
  5. I am bugged by the fact that past me scheduled 5 appointments for future (present) me on a friday. Why did I think that was a good idea? Friday is a much better day for projects and paperwork.
  6. Brother in Milwaukee saw it, coworker in Green Bay saw it. There is youtube video from Iowa....must have been pretty immense.
  7. That's ignoring the fact that the Twins situation as far as revenue has recently changed with the new stadium. While their market wasn't "small", their revenue was limited much like a small market teams would have been; which is why they were always lumped in with small markets. He used Mauer in comparison to the days when they had to let Santana and Hunter walk and tried to make it seem like they are inconsistent and self-serving in crying "small market". He has an agenda and a "small" mind. That's a bad combination for rational discussion which Miller found out last night.
  8. I thought his main problem was a lack of understanding of the words "big" and "small" in general http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. I remember when I used to LIVE for this week in baseball....at some point in the past 15 years it became this week in yankee baseball....crappy.
  10. is "IESKE" available? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. agreed. Fielder should bat #2 and Braun #3 behind Weeks.
  12. Had an eye opener last night as our power was out from 6 until after midnight. I remember the power going out when I was a kid and it was basically "OK, no lights, no tv, kind of annoying" and we went on with our life. Last night I realized that I basically don't do anything (indoors, since it was raining) that does not involve electricity. On top of that my basement flooded because the sump pump wasn't working. If it wasn't for my cell phone (and its battery), I never would have woken up to bail more water at midnight or to get to work on time. It felt like all heck was breaking loose. I may need to make some lifestyle adjustments. In the case of the apocolypse I don't want to be one of those first ones killed off because they panic when the lights go out.
  13. Just curious, bored, and had some time. Dang, didn't know it would get attention or I would have saved it....something about how much I was looking forward to opening day and why. It reminds me of some funny off-color spam I get sometimes.
  14. I was sad and frustrated about the Sheffield trade. We finally had a real live blue chipper and he had to be traded for less than value because he was a jag. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  15. That was translated from English to Japanese and back again.
  16. Right now there are probably more threads that I'm not interested in being actively used in the "off topic" forum on bf.net than at any other point in the past 4 years.
  17. Never thought of those people. Jerks http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. yeah, looks like they need more input to balance out the people that don't know what they are talking about. Someone had Kotteras w/ zero starts? When was this first available?
  19. "For the price" is an argument for another thread. This is about projected wins this year vs last year. We lose a lot of offense going from Cam to Gomez and we WOULD lose a lot of defense if we go to Edmonds in CF (and despite all those gold gloves 10 years ago I hope we don't). These guys don't equal Cam unless Gomez has huge surprises in store for us offensively.
  20. but all he did was strike out and be non-clutch
  21. This is funny
  22. windows open, vinyl playing, birds chirping....windows open!
  23. Now we can start pining for all the games to be in 3D! Just not enough 3D trucks...
  24. throwing 94 with control like maddux, who needs experience?
  25. Wow, 94 and maddux like control. The Astros might do something this year!
