  1. On a sad note, I will not be watching lost tonight http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  2. Sportsguy, Andrew Brandt, Andrew Bogut, Ozzie Guillen is pretty entertaining, battlekow (just for the language) http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. I agree. I just struggle to understand the logic and mechanics behind they way these things go. Maybe that's why I flamed out as a supervisor http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. So are you saying they already know he's not the guy; but they just need the right opportunity to fire him?
  5. Not saying it isn't true or isn't going to happen that way; but it seems like an awful way to make any personnel decision (sports or otherwise). "You better produce this week, or else!" Someone either belongs in their job or doesn't. There's been a year+ body of work to make an assessment from--why would a weekend series in Minnesota make a difference?
  6. I think Gerut is a solid backup outfielder. No need to DFA
  7. basing PT on spring performance would be a bad way to make decisions. They got to the unlikely correct answer of playing Casey regularly as quickly as could have been expected given his career path to that point.
  8. Not only; but always and forever. Prospects eventually turn in to regular players, players that are cheap for a good number of years, and that could be retained (Braun) if things fall right. I'm not saying we should dump them or ignore them once they are not prospects. Our main focus should be developing prospects to fill needs and allowing prospects to fill holes rather than spending good money on mediocre veterans to fill them. If you do this consistently, these guys will have experience and be more than prospects when you need them to fill the shoes of the big guys like Prince when they leave. Higher level prospects like Gamel should be allowed to develop fully in the minors, then be brought up to fill a strategic/specific role that will help their development rather than hinder it. The last two years have been a hodge-podge scramble to fill immediate needs. Melvin's philosophy is that mediocre/expensive veterans gave him a better chance to win these past two years than "keeping the faith" in the minor league system that created our success originally.
  9. The last two years have been Melvins/small market version of playing for this year. He attempted to plug holes on the pitching staff and retool positional holes quickly and on a budget. Doing this has set us back financially and has kept a couple of prospects from getting valuable experience and in some cases has derailed prospect development. I don't just mean Gamel (who seems to have other issues) but guys like Adam Heether are types you want filtering up onto the roster every few years and maybe you get a Cirillo out of it at worst you get a solid versatile cheap backup. It made sense for Melvin to want to do this because I think not winning with Prince and Braun means his job and our time with Prince is getting short. Putting Melvin in this position has hurt the franchise. This team should never ever ever play for this year....I still like the Sabathia trade though http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Not that Macha is great at it; but iirc yost's bench managment was starting all the bench players on Sunday. That sucked, particularly if you had tickets to that game... the conversation usually turns to Yost vs. Macha; but that just seems to me like comparing crap to crap.
  11. Widmore: looking out for only his own interests or the interests of humanity?
  12. ahh, good point about the wires. Thanks
  13. Jin is almost certainly alive, isn't he? There was only one of them crossed out right? I think people know not to read this thread the day after a new episode if they don't want to see spoilers.
  14. Its a good idea to have a good pitcher pitching as often as possible. It helps not to overpay for an overhyped position like closer so you can spend that money on more tangible and predictable areas.
  15. gosh, I know you've addressed this before; but I would think if they wanted to correct a bug it should be the last page blank bug. That is a daily issue and hands down the most annoying one.
  16. I haven't watched Joe Johnson enough to know what category he fits into; but I would hate to see us sign someone that would disrupt the simple (but suprisingly rare) equation that we have going of: if have the opportunity get to the hoop, do it, you are open, shoot, if not pass. All it takes is one guy (Redd) to disrupt that equation. That's why Salmons is such a good fit. He's the rare ego-less scorer.
  17. I'm waiting for coach to come give us an update that he's perfecting walking on water
  18. you definitely want to switch to component. Not completely sure that is your problem; but there is no delay on my samsung lcd and I've always used components.
  19. RoCo not being snarky; but did you watch the game last night? The Hawks played hard and with intensity, the Bucks matched that and then some. It was funny to hear, feel, and see the shock from everyone involved in this game when it ended. It was as if no one believed that had just happened. I mean, Ridnour was gaurding Marvin Williams for a good number of possessions, this just doesn't happen. Tri, the refs tried to get us with some ticky-tacks on our bigs and we just rode it out. Awesome win.
  20. Is it too early to be dispirited?
  21. I think his Bucks playing days are done one way or the other. Let's move on to talking about decent players. How much will Salmons get on the open market and should we pay it? I go back and forth on cost and really can't come up with a figure I believe in.
  22. We definitely should have tanked this year. This is no fun at all.
  23. In my opinion, payroll, resources, competitive balance in the sport, and public ownership exclude the Packers from being compared to the Yankees....unless you're talking championships like Topper was.
  24. ah, I get you. And I was thinking about the true definition of "evil empire" http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Sorry, if anyone, the Cowboys are the Yankees of the NFL
