  1. While no one is above suspicion, he was probably the one true slugger of the steroid era who did it the right way: raw talent. Frank Thomas, too. I know there are the Bonds apologists, but in my mind it should have always been Griffey who chased Aaron's record. Just wasn't meant to be. Tip o' the cap.
  2. He hit his wall. That's all. The booing really bothers me. But I know nothing I say will change anyone's mind on that. I guess we all have different ideas of civility.
  3. These are men being paid handsomely to play a child's game. While I expect some accountability, you also can't expect the man to give up money that is contractually obligated to him.
  4. I think we're passed the point of knee-jerk reactions, right? It's late enough in the season that we can rule out small sample sizes and occasional lapses in judgement. I'm all for mixing it up as shown here to see what happens. Fortune favors the bold.
  5. You must support your assertion with at least one example. Not really trying to help here, but Ken Macha is the manager.....Jim Edmonds has played this year, too......Those don't overcome the stench that has been Suppan's performance...
  6. They do? I'm struggling for anything worse than Suppan... Suppan, to me falls into the "Having Said That..." category... I'm sure he's a great family man and a wonderful example to his kids and his family loves him. Having said that, dude needs to admit he's lost it and accept his walking papers.
  7. If, in said game, the manager has bases loaded with one out and pinch hits for a pitcher with another pitcher while actual hitters sit on the bench. Yes.
  8. I thought for sure that Gameday was pulling my chain. That actually just happened?! He must be trying to get fired now.
  9. Examining the minutia, at the very end there, Jack seems recognize something as he exits that yard. (He clearly kinda stops and takes notice of something. That last look he gives to the drone seems like a "thank you). If I'm right, I wonder who is waiting for him and how that will play into the movie.
  10. I would like them to hire none of the above. Don't hire a manager another team fired. You are just going to get the same crappy mistakes Yost and Macha make. Just to clarify - it's not a preference. It's just what I think is going to happen.
  11. So, we should start a pool: Don Money Willie Randolph Dale Svuem Longshot candidates, but great PR: Paul Molitor Robin Yount Not-gonna-happens, but people always bring up their names: Bobby Valentine Davey Johnson Dark Horse: Pat Listach (no reason other than former Brewer with minor league managing accolades) My pick: Sentimentality says Money or Svuem, but I have a feeling they go with Randolph
  12. I wonder if a homestand sweep and overall underachieving compared to the talent level gets a manager fired this week?
  13. And I do enjoy the random awesomeness of Michael Madsen...
  14. I'm guessing this is going to be revealed as an indie film/mockumentary, eventually - or just as a fun (and embarrassing to watch) piece of performance art. http://zimzamyoyo.com/
  15. They're giving away too much in the scene previews for next week though... they are giving the appearance that JAck is just going to run unabated through his paces until the truth is revealed. And is that an Iron Man suit he puts on? Should be an exciting finale...
  16. Really? You thought Braden came off as the prick? I guess it's split about 50/50. I thought A-Rod came out looking worse in that situation...
  17. I also like it because AROD wrote this guy off as someone whose accomplishments, and therefore his criticism, didn't mean much re: trotting across the mound. Maybe the guy will command a little more respect now...
  18. I actually was very disappointed when they took her down this path. She has been the strongest president since Palmer I and the most likeable, and then this ridiculous twist with Logan. It's almost hard to suspend disbelief because it goes so strongly against everything she's ever done on the show (including sending her own daughter up the river)...
  19. I expressed a nearly identical thought in the chat (though I'm reluctant to trivialize mental health disorders, it really seems to fit).Yes, apologies and no trivialization meant - I just can't think of a better way to put it.
  20. Weren't you kinda hoping he would, though? After she shot their poor high school buddy who was helping them with their mortgage (not to mention treason, murder, Renee Walker's death, etc.), I didn't shed a tear, and I don't think it compromises Jack's character at all. "Do you know who I am? DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?"
  21. I bought it a month ago... and haven't done it yet. But your success make me realize I need to jump into it...
  22. Fear the Deer is a worldwide trending topic on Twitter... ftw
