  1. Sturgill Simpson and Jason Isbell are "next level" stuff. Simpson is really pushing the boundaries of country music and Isbell is one of the finest songwriters in any genre. I'll co-sign these posts, and also add in Cody Jinks, who revealed the other day he's dropping not one but TWO new albums in October. Jinks is the real deal. Isbell will probably go down as the finest songwriter of a generation when he's through. Have you heard that new Sturgill track? Definitely more dirty southern rock with a little electronic/static vibe mixed in...
  2. +1 I am a daily lurker logging in for the first time in maybe years to agree with this. Anyone actually bothered by this change needs to sit down and take a deep breath. It bothers me that you are so sensitive in regards to other people's sensitivity about other people being sensitive. I am intolerant of your intolerance towards my intolerance of the intolerance shown by some folks who just want to be... wait, where were we?

  4. You and the entire Brewers' marketing department, who is itching to kick in the inevitable "Sheriff of Nottingham" campaign...
  5. I agree with Son of Doug. I was at the game last night, so didn't have the pleasure of hearing the call live. But man did he nail it. Listening to the replay on 620 on the ride home... the man is a time machine. I felt I was once again a 6 year old kid riding home from the game with my grandfather and dad (who would have been about the age I am now). The man is a treasure.
  6. I'm going through the ancient ritual of "getting all the crap out of your mother's basement" after it's been more than two decades since you lived at home... Among the things I'm coming across are every single issue of Baseball Digest from 1992 through 1994. Has anyone ever seen any value to these anywhere? Or is it recycling bin fodder?
  7. Hands down my favorite player not wearing a Brewers uniform. And he'll make his place in history this week: https://sports.yahoo.com/adrian-beltre-ejected-hilarious-antics-deck-circle-052202806.html
  8. Great, great thread OP - but you can make the original post perfect by adding in Uecker as Harry Doyle.
  9. I feel like there's a high probability that Tim Dillard is already following and commenting on this thread.
  10. ...I was gonna say Mark Reynolds...
  11. Surprised I didn't see a thread yet... But to kick it off: I'll be surprised if much can challenge Jason Isbell's new record "Southeastern" as one of the top albums, if not the top album of the year.
  12. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last time around. This time he has to produce receipts matching the dollar amounts listed for legal supplements - otherwise I can't buy it. We're in "fool me once, fool me twice" territory here...
  13. How did I not know Alex Gonzalez' nickname was Sea Bass?
  14. holy crap Glenn Braggs
  15. Wow - this thread is like a time capsule. Saw my old post from 2009. Still battling similar deal in 2012. Total Dew addict. Average two cans a day. However: I reached an apex in December 2011. Just after Christmas, I crossed over to the heaviest I've ever been: 227. (I was 225 when we got married in 2005). Made a commitment - did not drink an ounce of Mt. Dew from January 1st to May 1st. Went from 227 down to 204. Then work got crazy. Started drinking one here and there. Then these past few months I've been back up to two a day. See the weight start to come back... 205, 206, 207, 208... So now I've been off it for a week again... will probably never be able to truly give it up... there are a lot of people who just find Mt. Dew disgusting. And others of us who think it's the greatest beverage ever created. I wonder what the science is behind that? Anyway...
  16. Maybe a dumb question: If he's healthy enough to start, why wouldn't he be on their Wild Card/playoff roster?
  17. I always hate this - the top 3 are pretty solid, but the rest fluctuate depending on the day: 1. Cool Hand Luke 2. Godfather 3. Gladiator 4. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance 5. No Country for Old Men 6. Grapes of Wrath 7. Magnificent 7 8. Rear Window 9. Vertigo 10. There Will Be Blood
  18. I'm in a league that is going into its 12th year... we've got a good core of 10 teams, and 1-2 seem to rotate in and out ever year... might be an opening next year. We live draft out of Milwaukee... 4 keepers from previous year 2 rounds of straight-up "draft" Then the rest of the 25-man roster is auction We're full up this year, but who knows, may be looking for folks next year...
  19. I've got to be honest - looking at this from a purely objective standpoint, I was hoping to get some more concrete details this week. I'm glad Braun is in the lineup, but I don't feel as good about it the longer this drags out.
  20. Pebadger - thank you for your posts and insight - it has been very enlightening... My question is: why is no one reporting this? Is the national sports media just more interested in crucifying a guy and they're taking part in lazy journalism, or is there more to it? The majority of national sports media I read still leans heavily towards "he got away with it" versus "maybe he IS innocent..."
  21. Reading between the lines, and using powers of deduction: 1. 100 percent positive that substance never entered my body 2. Treated like a nuclear weapon in Montreal, documented relentlessly He's basically saying that it was tampered with. That someone added it. And there are only two other people (collector and son) who could have known whose sample it was. So I'm guessing we're going to learn a lot more about those two guys...
  22. ESPN Legal Analyst Lester Munson on Mike & Mike saying Braun offered to do a DNA test to prove conclusively whether or not the tested sample was his. MLB refused.
  23. All the talking heads this morning are only latching on to the technicality - not giving any pub to the fact that they say there is still more to it. Why are these guys so eager to hang Ryan Braun and label him as a cheat that just got away with it? At least hear what he has to say at 11:00!
