  1. While we still have basketball left to play, I am very excited to see what this team can do next year. Very fun to watch.
  2. What stat guru out there has the probability of coming back to win a playoff series after going down 0-2, or the actual percentage of which it has happened in the NBA?
  3. If I had the energy, I'd go back and pull out all the quotes for all the chicken littles who thought the season was over as soon as Bogut went down... This is a fun run in the playoffs... I hope the BC was explosive tonight...
  4. Tempted to put this in blue, but I think there might be some weight to it: Thanks to the Cubs for throwing Zambrano in the pen even with his monster contract. I think it probably, to an extent, gave the Brewers the courage of their convictions to do the same thing...
  5. The Border Trilogy - Cormac McCarthy...
  6. Yeah, but it also doesn't feel like a guaranteed out when he's at the plate. So...
  7. Reportedly due to something he was taking so that he and his wife could start having a family... Giving him the benefit of the doubt, why on earth wouldn't you run this through your team trainer before you start taking it?
  8. It's not so much Fox as the affiliates. Right now, the affiliates get to keep all advertising revenue from their syndicated programs after 9PM. Were a national "Fox" show to come on in late night, it would cut into the local affiliates revenue stream. So, it's not so much that they'd rather have Seinfeld and Simpsons. It just makes more dollars and sense for the local affiliates.
  9. ...and riding ATVs with Todd Helton and Brad Hawpe all day, earlier that day. (and it was a thrown back, it was a broken collarbone).
  10. For what it's worth, all reports are that he is a GREAT guy - which makes it all the more unfortunate that he would add to the fire something like this. Like you said, he should have just said nothing...
  11. On another note, the sporting press has enjoyed taking its shots at the Brewers lately, between reporting on (and then largely concurring with) the Randy Levine comments; eating up this Soup thing; and even some of the Yo extension coverage from yesterday was tinged with "this is the same team that was just complaining about its ability to extend Fielder". For some reason, The Brewers are a trendy whipping post, 4 days into the season. This really doesn't help.
  12. I'm completely incredulous. So much so that I'm questioning even posting it: http://sports.yahoo.com/m...Wu5IRvLYF?urn=mlb,233018 Really? So this is how you combat all the jokes about hurting your neck by watching all those home runs? This is Clint Barmes/Deer Meat ridiculous.
  13. OMG! We're only 1/2 game out of first!!!!!! With 159 to go! I almost can't contain myself.
  14. I've seen Brettac1 over at the Drive By Truckers boards today, so I know there are a couple of us fans here, but THE BIG TO-DO drops today. $9.99 Itunes gets you 13 tracks plus a bonus cover of KISS' Strutter, or, I'm told, you can get it at Best Buy for $7.99 today. The album is great. I wouldn't use it as an introduction for new fans (try The Dirty South or Decoration Day), but overall it's a very worthy effort from one of the best rock bands in America... Highlight Tracks: Fourth Night of my Drinking, After the Scene Dies, Get Downtown, Birthday Boy
  15. FWIW, I've begun collecting baseball cards again and I just opened a TOPPS pack today with Prince Fielder's 2010 card: It's the moment of the bomb dropping with all the teammates lying in ruins around him. It is fantastic. Immortalized forever.
  16. I'm the biggest 24 apologist ever, but this season is just bad. I've invested too much time into it though, over the years, I'll see it through to the end.
  17. I forget why/what I created this for, but it was a thread on this site at one point: http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c247/elvermanwrites/ChuckiesGame.jpg
  18. This whole thing with the Dana Walsh character = Kim & the Mountain Lion from season 3 (3, right?). It's gone on to a silly length now, and you could see it heading in that direction from the beginning... I'm a huge 24 fan but kinda just "meh" on this season. I hope it turns around. LAst season was a great return to form. And, re: Agent Pierce, I have it on good authority that he is NOT coming back this year. Although I'd love to be wrong.
  19. Also, Pocahantas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdIIqoDakHU
  20. Oh, Alvin Robertsen... http://www.huffingtonpost...-sex-traff_n_478642.html
  21. With the pencil-thin mustache, he had kind of a suave, secret-agent look to him. With the shag and the soul patch, he now has the "uncle who tells you dirty jokes that you're not supposed to repeat to your parents" look.
  22. Or, to put it another way: If I made demeaning comments about a female coworker and then related her to an Eliot Spitzer fantasy, or a Monica Lewinsky fantasy, or a Tiger Woods fantasy, I'd expect backlash or repercussions.
  23. Brucey: The latter may have been worded strongly, by the argument is this: 1. He's talking about a female coworker's appearance and clothes in a negative way. 2. He then makes reference to a character/book known throughout literature as a book that dealt with sexual issues/commentary. 3. He adds the word "fantasy". My assertion: he may not have meant it in a threatening or menacing manner, but his comment strongly hints of a sexual meaning. Which, in ANY workplace is inappropriate. The challenge: for one of the dissenters to come up with a possible alternate meaning to what he said, in that context, that is NOT inappropriate for the workplace. I'm guilt of possibly wording my post too strongly. And I'll gladly admit I'm wrong if someone can challenge it. I think all those things add up (combined with the Deadspin article Bernie posted) to paint a portrait of a guy who is kind of a jerk and said something stupid.
  24. Definitive statements like this are what is making it difficult to take you too seriously here. Again, you really don't know what pushed it over the edge just like you don't know what TK meant when he said it.I simply don't know what a workplace appropriate definition of a "Holden Caulfield Fantasy" could be. If someone could point out a harmless alternative to what he might have meant, in the context of that discussion, I'll gladly back down from my assertion. Edit: heck, a female poster on the board even acknowledged that she'd feel "kind of threatened" by that statement. I don't think I'm alone on this...
