  1. That's five straight days of no Brewers baseball on TV. This is like torture. It's because I'm back in WI on vacation and can actually watch all of the games again. The baseball broadcast gods hate me.
  2. I just was wondering why Trent Durrington gets all the PT now and Bill Hall sits on his hands in the dugout. It bothers me, but it was a great win and I hope we sweep tomorrow! Trent scored higher than Billy on the grit test.
  3. Anybody else a little ticked we didn't pony up the extra cash to go after Reggie Sanders instead of Grieve? It's only about 60 at bats, but he's been a bargain for the Cardinals while Grieve hasn't even looked to be worth the low salary we're giving him.
  4. Here is to hoping that Jung Bong gets to pitch today. It'd be especially great if he pitched against Brandon Puffer, a Bong-Puffer matchup would only be fitting. Bill Clinton could throw out the first pitch.
  5. How long will the argument rage on? It's just gotten ridiculous. It's like arguing over who's hotter: Estelle Getty or Bea Arthur? No one ever said Kinney was any good, merely that he sucked less than Franklin, it's not exactly as if Kinney was ever showered with praise.
  6. Stupid FSNSW isn't covering it, so it's blacked out in Texas.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif So now I re-arranged my schedule to be home for the game and will instead be mowing the lawn. Top of the first, me 1, lawn 0.
  7. Well, Bennett was hot in his first start, and had a big spring, so I don't mind him playing 2/5ths of the games for now. Plus, it does keep Moeller fresher, and I'm sure Yost does know more than I do about how easy it is for a catcher to wear down I agree, right now Bennett hasn't looked crappy and Moeller hasn't set the world on fire, so I'm fine seeing Moeller start just 3/5 of the games, especially since he's still getting his feet wet in the bigs. Should Bennett play like crap as expected, and if Moeller has a breakout year, I'd be pretty miffed if Moeller doesn't start more than he currently is.
  8. Just listening on the radio, so I can't say WHERE the pitches were, but Hernandez was behind just about every hitter. He just didn't seem to have a whole lot of life on his pitches and didn't work the zone very well. He kinda reminded me of a guy coming back after an inury that just looked flat and rusty. Let's hope he's still trying to find his groove or had first game jitters or he'll be known as "El Rummycito" before long.
  9. We've played ONE game and our pen is being dubbed the '04 "nasty boys"? I think it's perfectly fine since it's pretty much hedging your bet when you think about it, as nasty has a double meaning. It could either be nasty as in nasty toward opposing hitters, or nasty as in rotten and atrocious.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif One way or the other, they'll be nasty.
  10. Yeah, that list does show that you can build a great system solely based on players taken after round 1 and international players. One thing to remember is that, unlike the Brewers, the Braves have been one of the best teams in baseball over that time period, and thus their failures are slightly more excusable since they have generally drafted much later in the round.
  11. Can we get a "Reality Check" blocker? I wouldn't go that far, but I do think Brian needs to take the same action in censoring the word "yankees" as he did with the name of that city where the timber rattlers play.
  12. Why is it that as soon as you have a problem you jump to an extremely paranoid & hasty conclusion? He is in the land of Rupert Murdoch. Seriously though Hoffy, the reason we defend Brian and don't believe you were blacklisted is that you've not nearly offended anyone to the extent that several others have, and they haven't been banned until they had repeatedly said really stupid stuff. Plus, as I understand it, when people are banned it isn't done by telling EZboard not to let you log in to a global EZboard account, it's done by banning your IP address from access to this site. I've had problems logging in many times. Sometimes when I click on a forum I'm logged in, and then am logged out when I click on an individual thread. Like almost anything computer-related, EZboard has shortcomings and obvious glitches, that's the real problem.
  13. Anyway, I have proved that anyone can create the same userid as any poster and with the new account, the new password will prevent the original user from accessing On that note, I would like to let everyone know that every dumb thing "I" have ever posted was done by some hacker who stole my identity and posted under my screen name.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. 13. (round they were drafted in last June) Luke Cannon-OF I'm still planning on making the short trip up to Gainesville to check Cannon out, hopefully in 3 weeks over my spring break.
  15. How difficult would it be to add the birthdays of members of this site to the B-days on the homepage? I think it'd be kinda cool to have members' birthdays up there along with those of the players. Just an idea.
  16. We haven't had 4 or more below .500 seasons in a row since 1909-1913. I can't understand why Indy fans and personnel act so dissapointed about 3 consecutive losing seasons. Is this supposed to be a shocking disappointment? For god's sake, they signed a contract with a horrible team who had an absolutely barren farm system at the time, what in the world did they expect? It's like paying to see an NSync concert and then complaining that it was no good. They're the one's who were dumb enough to sign the contract with the Brewers who had no one but Sheets, Neugebauer, and Hall in their farm system.
  17. I took the 300:1 odds they'll win the series and laid down a dollar with foamboy. If hell freezes over, I'll be able to get back most of the money I'd spend partying during the series (minus the money I'd lose on "sick days" from work). If not, foamboy gets a double cheeseburger at McDonald's. Like he said, though, he should be receiving that crisp George Washington just after the All Star game.
  18. Clayton and Rusch were the only players bought out this year.
  19. I could care less if the farm teams moved elsewhere, as long as its closer to where I live.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. I was thinking it might be interesting to have the post of the week. I guess this would be the best post as voted on by the members. This would encourage quality posts reward the guys and gals that put so much time into there posts and are the back bone of this sites success. I second that. But I don't think we'd even need voting, Brian or Colby could pick one, or Jason could just include it in the Daily Brew.
  21. And I really hope I'm not the only person going crazy over this. Well, I went crazy sometime in the last '80's, so I can't count myself in. But yeah, 3 threads discussing a single signing is pretty lame to read through. If it's huge news like Molitor getting in the hall, or the Sexson trade, it's fine because people have so much to say that the threads end up taking separate directionsand can all be interesting. But there's only so much that can be said about a set up man being DFA'd, leading to redundancy.
  22. I don't know as much about salary rules as some here, but the article linked lead me to believe they would have had to pay him $300K this year, even if he were sent to the minors. Thus, the extension makes him cheaper if he's in the minors, while paying him more if he makes the majors. That's a steep price for a player who'll probably be sent to Class AA Huntsville in 2004. Instead, the Brewers and Cruz agreed to a deal that will pay him $135,000 next year and $145,000 in 2005, if he is in the minors both years. If he plays in the majors, his salaries would be $320,000 and $325,000, respectively.
  23. That sounds like a leadoff hitter on a horrible (at least 7-9 the hitters) team's line to me. Are his RISP numbers atrocious or what?
  24. We're currently having some legal problems with the store.... I was working with Sarah Harris (Ulice Payne's assistant), but she left in the whole UP fiasco. I'm having to work with a new set of people now, and everything's a little chaotic. Wow, is that all over the whole MLB spoof logo? The store got locked for that? If there's another reason, please tell the story if it's something you feel at liberty to discuss here.
  25. As a tribute to the memory of Dernell Stenson (CIN), each Scorpion batter used Stenson?s bat in his first trip to the plate. I'll gladly have our guys lose if it means having those kids return with a W. Nice to see his teammates pull together and win big after such a nasty event.
