  1. My wife and I just put our house on the market about a week ago, and have an open house scheduled for this Saturday. This morning I wake up to find a leak coming from the vent in our first floor bathroom. Talk about bad timing!
  2. I really like Lorenzo Cain and hope he shines in KC as the starting center fielder.
  3. I still have a hard time believing this will happen, but it's interesting to hear a major writer connect Reyes to Milwaukee in more of an "official" sense. I don't know if we can beat out teams like the Mets and Marlins if they're really bidding on him, though.
  4. Mass, thanks for all your hard work here over the years. Even though I've never been a die hard MiLB follower like some on the site, I've always appreciated your work here and devotion to what was probably sometimes a rather thankless job.
  5. Would trading Hart for Sanchez (if that's the premise we're going with today) have been selling high, or just selling to sell?
  6. Surprised noone is talking about this yet. I remember a couple posters on here wanted him to become the Brewers' Gm a while ago. Seems like a popular move in Minnesota.
  7. Someone in the comments section there noted that those uniforms remind them of the old Houston Astros jerseys. I agree with the assessment.
  8. I think the discussion has been coming up more and more due to the sheer amount of money the NCAA brings in, and the over commercialization of the broadcasts. I tend to lean toward Jim's opinion that these players are already receiving hefty compensation in the form of their scholarships.
  9. The thing with Vasgersian was that he could get away with making wise cracks because the team was so terrible it didn't matter. I remember hearing him on the radio, talking about how he went to San Diego after his stint in Milwaukee, and they basically told him to knock it off and be more serious.
  10. I thought it was entertaining enough.
  11. If he wants to drive out to my area on Sundays, I can probably negotiate an extra free beverage per game if he wants to play for our local team.
  12. I love how everyone on here is suddenly a certified sports trainer or something. Guys do slow down. There isn't some magic age where it can or can't happen. He's gotten a little older and a little bigger. I have never heard anything about Corey Hart being lazy, or anyone claiming he "dogs it" on the field. I remember reading about how after his disappointing '09 season, he busted his butt in the offseason to get in better shape. Regardless, he is a top power RF bat in the NL. Some people forget those types don't grow on trees.
  13. I really don't see how he can look at his numbers and level of play this past season and think that he's going to find any sort of job playing on the field in 2012. He's had a successful career and it's time to go into coaching or something else.
  14. Here's some humor for you this morning. I saw this on someone's Facebook page, via the blog "LOLBrewers": http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lu2bg7oJjF1r4154ao1_500.jpg
  15. My wife and I looked into it in the past, before finding out my she was pregnant a second time. We investigated it through Lutheran Social Services, which is a good option. You have to decide if you want to pursue a domestic or international adoption. I don't remember all the details, but most foreign countries make you visit one to two times before the adoption is finalized. You can typically expect to spend about $15,000, possibly more, on an adoption. LSS gets a large amount of applicants, and you basically get entered into a lottery drawing to see if you are selected for a given year. I will say that my wife has an aunt and uncle that adopted from Russia several years ago. I know there was a lot of red tape they had to go through, and had to go to Russia twice before it was finalized. Their daughter is doing fine now (I think she's about 12 now).
  16. I really like Provus. It would be a shame to see him leave this soon.
  17. "Trade Greinke, and most of the pitching staff can be traded too." Um...I really hope this is not what Doug Melvin is thinking. Do people remember this team was two wins away from the World Series? They aren't going to kill off what got them to the dance.
  18. The news is all over Twitter. Have to say, makes sense for him to go out on top. I think Brewers fans everywhere can rejoice, just a little.
  19. That's exactly what I was thinking. I wonder if this is just one of those "courtesy" type interviews teams give to veteran coaches to give them a taste of what the process is like.
  20. Blake just really isn't very good any more. Pass.
  21. One article I read suggested that the next team to sign him should have him change positions. No kidding. I actually think he could be a semi-competent second baseman. Not sure why he's stuck as a shortstop for so long.
  22. I really, really, REALLY hope Melvin was just being nice when he gave Tom Haudricourt this tidbit: #Brewers aren't necessarily parting ways with Yuni Betancourt by declining $6 M option. Would consider brining him back at lower price.
  23. I firmly believe Attanasio will let Melvin spend "extra" money if the right situation presents itself (Fielder signing for a non-crippling deal, or Jose Reyes for a reasonable price). We have an owner who wants to win a championship as badly as the fans do.
  24. I think you have to re-sign Greinke if you want to remain in contention beyond this coming season.
  25. I admit I wanted to see Melvin go after Lackey at the time, but I was glad we didn't give him the contract he got from Boston.
