  1. Sounds like Counsell is open to a non-playing role if no team signs him to a playing one.
  2. Sounds like Melvin is keeping his options open. Recent comments on Twitter state that the Brewers are looking at shortstop options in Reyes, Furcal, Barmes, and yes, Betancourt.
  3. They're trying to kick their losing season streak and I guess this is one way to get some mojo going.
  4. I don't think Furcal is really going to get a three year deal at this point. Maybe two years with a third year option. Rollins might get a four year contract, but do we really want to be paying him big money when he's 36 (he's already 32)?
  5. Yeah, I can't see him getting a three year deal now that he's 34. A lot of these agents like to posture, but he'll probably take a two year deal (maybe with a team option for a third) if the money is right.
  6. I guess there's an article on ESPN Insider that suggests the Brewers are interested in Furcal, but I don't have access anymore.
  7. Herb Kohl won't let the Bucks be contracted in the near future. The NBA isn't going to mess with a sitting US Senator...granted, one who is retiring soon, but will still have powerful connections.
  8. MLB Trade Rumors states that the Marlins offered Reyes 6 years and $90 million.
  9. And also engages sports mode in a highly populated urban neighborhood!
  10. I'd love to buy this, but the wife and I might be moving soon, so funds are pretty tight. Good luck with it. It's a really cool piece for any Brewers fan to have in their collection.
  11. Seeing that the Brewers changed leagues about 15 years ago, I think any correlation at this point is pretty spurious. I don't see any more sensible option to ending the stupid "six teams in one division" situation we have now.
  12. Supposedly Ramirez is looking for a 3-4 year deal. I don't think he'll get that at this point.
  13. Great job. I enjoyed reading it. I hope you keep doing these. Also, no Brock Kjeldgaard?
  14. Buster Olney with an update. Sounds like things are almost a done deal. Nothing finalized, but it appears MLB will get a system that tamps down draft cost; veteran FAs won't have to deal with compensation issue.
  15. People on Twitter are claiming that Sirius is reporting that Reyes has signed with the Marlins.
  16. 2012-2019: $24 million ($8 million deferred)2022-2037: $4 million deferred/year That could be a potentially franchise crippling deal.
  17. I think most of us would be reasonably comfortable with that (assuming the Brewers can afford that). The problem is he might be looking for more like a 5-6 year deal, which I don't think the Brewers should mess with.
  18. That seems pretty crazy for a very marginal veteran catcher.
  19. I know the feeling, I finished the story mode of Arkham City last night (but at about 40% of the total game) and have had Uncharted Drakes Deception sitting there for however long unopened. I have no idea when I will get to Skyrim which will probably take me two months to finish. I think theres a new Assasins Creed too this xmas with another Mass Effect in the spring. The nice thing is I can probably wait a bit to buy those games when they go on sale for $40 or so.That's what I think. Frankly, I find it hard to justify paying $60 for a video game these days. Speaking of Assassin's Creed, I need to pick up Brotherhood yet, which I think I can probably get for less than $20 these days.
  20. I would love to go buy Skyrim tomorrow, but I just don't think I have time for a game like that right now. Planning on picking up WWE '12 in a couple weeks though.
  21. Sorry. Maybe I have a warped sense of humor.
  22. This is exactly how I feel. People sometimes keep talking like our team is still owned by the Seligs. Attanasio wants to win, and badly. He is going to give Melvin the green light to be aggressive if the right signings or trades come up. Also, making a few mediocre moves and not doing anything to remotely replace Prince's production would send a horrible message to the fan base that has been so supportive. I think they know they made mistakes by not doing more after Sabathia and Sheets left in the '08 off-season. They aren't going to make those same mistakes again.
  23. The fact is that the Brewers simply aren't in a position to take big gambles on these kinds of prospects.
  24. RIP Bill. I used to read Family Circus a lot as a kid. Also, I'm sorry, but I have to post this (possibly offensive to some, and probably NSFW): Link from cracked.com (edited to fix link - hawing)
  25. Yeah, I don't think a deal like that for Hairston would be too bad at this point.
