  1. With Taylor Green killing the ball in AAA (.900+ OPS), the excuses have run out. Casey just looks lost up there. You can predict a ground out if he even manages to get the bat on the ball almost every AB. He needs to go to Nashville and try to get his old swing back. He used to have such a nice compact swing, and now he looks more like Bill Hall in his last year with the Brewers.
  2. Actually, if K-Rod goes to FA next year, it is better for Boras. Boras doesn't make any money off K-Rod's current contract.
  3. Melvin is actively working on replacing Betancourt right now. No way YunE6 is even on the team next year.
  4. A lot of it just falls on Gallardo having a bad start last night, but the defense sure didn't help any. Just a game to forget. Go get 'em today. No excuses to play this badly, on the road or not.
  5. The thing is that the 3B issue can easily be solved internally by calling up Taylor Green, who is red hot down in AAA Nashville right now. For some reason, Doug Melvin seems reluctant to make such a move for whatever reason.
  6. It was previously said Rodriguez probably would have approved the trade anyway since the Brewers are in contention.
  7. Yes, exactly. If you read between the lines with some recent articles and comments from Melvin, he is likely already aggressively working on this.
  8. Wasn't Fiers throwing in the mid '90s last year? Has his velocity gone down since then? I remember seeing him throw during Spring Training last year and thinking he had very good velocity.
  9. Matt Antonelli? Are you basing that on a source, or just speculating?
  10. My Windows desktop pc. Edit: Just tried it on my Playbook and having same issue.
  11. Having the same issue. Seems like the new chat is just not very reliable in general.
  12. Hanley Ramirez was hurt and missed some playing time earlier this year. He started out very poorly, but has been on quite a hot streak over the past month or so. There was also that issue where he was benched for missing a meeting or something. Really not sure how amenable the Marlins would be to dealing him. He's signed through 2014, and I really doubt we have enough to land him.
  13. More from 1250 WSSP: Melvin says that he spoke to K-Rod and he is excited to come to the Brewers.
  14. I just wouldn't trust Weeks to play short. They have invested so much time and effort to turn him into a quality 2B, that I don't think it would be a good idea to shift him somewhere else at this point.
  15. I admit part of me wonders if the Brewers already have a side deal in place to obtain Jose Reyes once he comes off the DL. Probably not, but stranger things have happened. Edit: Melvin is on WSSP right now and said, "Tyler Thornberg is not part of this, but they could be guys who can make the big leagues." I take that to mean these aren't top tier prospects on this list, but guys who could have some MLB upside.
  16. After Prince's three run bomb, I still say the highlight of the night was Justin Timberlake saying, "Beer is perfect."
  17. Well, this trade came out of nowhere, and while I personally didn't see the bullpen as a huge need, this is a nice move. A half season of K-Rod for around $3.5 million is a great deal.
  18. Yeah, I see no need for Bell at all.
  19. Melvin didn't start the season thinking Gomez was a full time CF, which is why he traded for Morgan in spring training.
  20. Agree on the veterans. It would be nice if certain players would admit at the beginning of the year they won't play so they stay off the ballot. Jeter supposedly has been having some mental stress and supposedly even told Bud Selig about it, so I kind of give him a pass. Selig even said publicly today that he agreed with Jeter's decision. I think the hoopla over the 3000 hit thing may have put a lot of pressure on him.
  21. Bleacher Report is terrible. Typical misleading headline hedged with a question mark at the end.
  22. I would be OK with signing Hardy to a three year, $21 million deal. I think he may have turned a corner this year, and he only turns 29 next month. Then again it could just be having the typical pending FA season. At least we would have a defensively solid shortstop for three years until hopefully someone in the low minors can develop.
  23. Anyone know the actual first pitch time? I like to see the player introductions but usually skip the other fluff and hoopla if possible.
