  1. I don't think they can turn it around this year. Too many injuries and questionable players on the roster being asked to play key roles right now. That division is going to come down to Detroit and Cleveland, with Chicago possibly in the mix as well.
  2. Really, all of Gamel, Green, Braddock, and Saito should probably be called up at this point, but I realize shuffling that many guys in at once in unrealistic. I hope at least Braddock and Gamel get called up today. This team needs a lefty and another power bat against the Yankees.
  3. I think this is the best reply yet.
  4. I think that was one of the most annoying gimmicks of all time. I did enjoy when DX sent them packing to OVW though.
  5. They don't, which is why it is insane that they are getting a new stadium next year.
  6. With the way Prince is hitting, it would be extremely tough to get fair value for him in return right now (plus the comp picks the Brewers will hopefully receive). He's a legit MVP candidate right now.
  7. Adam McCalvy said on Twitter earlier that the Yankees' probables are Garcia, Burnett, and Sabathia.
  8. "Dang! I was out! Oh wait, I'm worth $140 million..."
  9. The value would be that the Brewers could probably get him while giving up very little in a trade. Other than the financial aspect, the trade wouldn't then hurt Milwaukee too much. Even if Furcal only plays half of the rest of the season, he would still be a huge upgrade over Yuni Betancourt.
  10. I just wonder how much longer the lineup will struggle before Melvin makes some roster moves. Brewers are 3-7 over their last ten games. I realize it's not panic time, but it would be nice to do something while still tied for first. It seems like Melvin can be really stubborn making changes.
  11. My guess would be "not great" since they're currently 13 games under .500. Would love to hear anyone local chime in on Yost, though.
  12. Very bizarre. I wonder if there was some sort of contention between Riggleman and Rizzo beyond what's been said so far.
  13. Finally got my Google Music Beta invite. I like it, but the upload takes forever. Over an hour to upload 200 songs. Oh well, still kind of cool.
  14. Yeah, it was a nice idea when it started, but it's gotten old. I really don't think the Brewers need to necessarily play the Twins two series per season. How dumb is it that the Athletics have never played a series at Miller Park at this point?
  15. Not really. I really do think Green needs to come up. McGehee might be having bad luck, but ultimately he hasn't been producing this year. Gamel isn't a solution since he hasn't been playing 3B for some time. Call Green up and give him some starts. See what happens. We can't keep giving games away due to crummy lineups like we have been lately.
  16. I normally don't get on the Roenicke bashing band wagon, but this was a pretty poorly managed game.
  17. Russell has some comments in Bob Wolfley's latest blog entry on the JSOnline. "I was blown away," Russell said Wednesday during a phone interview. "On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most surprised, I was probably about a 16. Shocked. Just flabbergasted." On Tuesday, after he had completed "The Doug and Mike Show" with his partner, Mike Wickett, WSSP program director Tom Parker told Russell he was out of a job. When asked by a reporter why Russell was dismissed, Parker said the station wanted "to take the show in a different direction."
  18. Tejada has been as bad as Betancourt this year and might be worse defensively at this point. Hall would barely be an upgrade either.
  19. I agree with you. I just don't see the Brewers as having the pieces to get a guy like Hardy, let alone Reyes, at this point. We'd have to probably look at giving up Gamel along with Thornburg or something crazy like that. We just can't afford to gut our farm system that much further right now. I still hope Furcal becomes a possibility.
  20. Why does Morgan have to bunt so much, especially early in games?
  21. I don't know if they can. I think they are obligated by ESPN to carry a certain amount of "prime time" network programming. It's too bad, because I really don't care for "Mike & Mike" or Colin Cowherd at all.
  22. PEM, I changed the thread title per your suggestion. I've never been a huge WSSP listener (more of a 540 ESPN guy). I agree that Doug was probably the best on the station...at least the most polished and professional sounding. I'm wondering if this was a simple cost cutting move. Hard to say for sure. I'm sure we'll hear more eventually. I do think he'll land somewhere sooner than later, maybe in the area yet.
  23. Announced he was let go on his Twitter feed this afternoon. Unexpected move for sure. Chuck Freimund will be replacing him mornings to co-host with Mike Wickett.
  24. You can get free news from so many sites and applications nowadays. Who would pay that much for something that is free elsewhere?
