  1. That one routine grounder he missed yesterday reminded me of something out of the Bad News Bears. How any manager can keep playing a guy who botches routine plays has to be questioned. And the GM has to be questioned for allowing it to continue.
  2. Glad to see Pirates fans coming out to support a winning team. Just goes to show that if you put a competitive product on the field, the fans will buy tickets. I don't think this is their year. They have the position players to contend, but I don't think their pitching is there, yet. Next year? Yeah, they could definitely be in the mix to win the division.
  3. Honestly, I don't think he looks much fatter than he did during his days in Milwaukee. It's funny how the Reds fans are now all throwing him under the bus. It was obvious he didn't have his top shelf stuff last night, and I don't get why Baker didn't pull him after 2 or 3 batters. I guess Dusty being Dusty, though.
  4. Supposedly Luis Cruz has an out on his contract with the Rangers on July 14th, and wants to come back to the Brewers. Maybe sign him, and get Counsell to take an early retirement with a bench or office job of some sort so he can save face.
  5. I have to believe we could see Green called up after the All-Star break. Despite a couple timely hits, McGehee has still been pretty bad of late. That coupled with his bad defense, means he should either take a bench role or go to Nashville. I don't think they'll mess with Gamel at 3B much more at this point. Clearly his glove doesn't play at the hot corner.
  6. 6 innings and 2 earned runs and 10 Ks is a pretty solid start. If he has half of a defense behind him he is probably able to go 7 at least. He was making guys look silly last night.Agreed. Not a bad start at all, and I liked how well he was mixing up his pitches. I'm glad they changed the scoring decision to give Gamel an error, because he deserved it. It seems like the defense has let down Greinke every single one of his starts, and he has to pitch longer in certain innings than he should have to. I know they don't play much better when our other pitchers are on the mound, but the problem seems magnified when the guy who is supposed to be our "ace" is pitching.
  7. This was eerily similar to the fatal fan fall last year at Miller Park (which actually happened right in front of my wife and myself while we were in Friday's). I think, as harsh as it sounds, it's usually just an overzealous fan reaching further than they should for a baseball. Obviously, still feel terrible for the man's son and family. No one expects tragedy at a baseball game.
  8. Uni streak will end tomorrow with Negroe League night.
  9. Couldn't disagree more. BA is in well into the upper quartile of PBP guys. Rock is a homer, but he's our homer. That's pretty much how I feel. Rock occasionally does say some stupid stuff, but most color guys do. I'll take our duo over a lot of the other schmucks out there.
  10. Pretty sure Hamilton would not be liable whatsoever. Lawsuit against the team and/or MLB might be possible, though.
  11. It seems like even in the dark days of the late '90s and early 2000's, we still had competent defense on that side of the infield.
  12. Rumors starting to speculate about Taylor Green via Hammer and Toby. Edit: Seems like it was probably much ado about nothing at this point.
  13. Does anyone actually like Bill Michaels??? This is such a stupid head scratcher of a move.
  14. Disregard my earlier post...was able to get in. Come join tomwopat and myself.
  15. It says I am not a registered user even though it displays my name in the login box.
  16. Instead of one decent shortstop, they have gone with a mass of mediocrity.
  17. I know you're being at least partly sarcastic, but I do think sometimes threat of losing a job can light a fire under an athlete's behind in certain circumstances.
  18. I thought I remember reading that the stadium was designed to last "at least 50 years" before major renovations or replacement would be needed. Of course, that was quite a while ago, so I don't really know if that is still accurate. There has been talk of extending the stadium tax to help with future costs or possibly to fund a new stadium for the Bucks, though recently that idea doesn't seem to have much traction.
  19. The change in Sunday games wouldn't bother me that much, but as someone who drives a decent distance to get to Miller Park, I wouldn't be really excited about Friday games getting pushed back a half hour. Would make getting home after the game even later than it already is.
  20. Great win. Kind of weird that we don't win without McGehee's big pinch hit home run. Definitely feels good to get a victory before a four game series against the Reds.
  21. That's what I'm unsure of. It sounds like the storyline will go that he gets hired over the summer to replace Michael, then very quickly gets promoted to the top of the company.
  22. I remember one game earlier this season when the night started with the roof closed. It was incredibly humid in there. We had seats on the field level, and were sweating like crazy. Finally they opened the roof around the fifth inning and there was a pretty loud cheer from the crowd. I agree it would be nice if they could do something to improve things.
  23. Looks like James Spader gets to be the new boss. NBC announced on Wednesday that James Spader has officially joined the cast of “The Office,” reprising his season finale role as the influential Robert California. Fans of the show will remember Spader, as California, interviewed for Michael Scott’s job on the comedy’s season finale back in May. When Spader joins the show when it returns this fall, the actor’s character will be getting a big career boost. Instead of taking Scott’s old job, he’ll be stepping in as CEO of Sabre, the parent company of the fictional Dunder Mifflin. Very interesting choice. I think his character came off really well on the finale episode.
