  1. The Brewers organization is a big reason he's still in the major leagues. They allowed him to be Carlos. Carlos Gomez will definitely be a Wall of Game guy someday at Miller Park.
  2. He looks like he's doing an Edge entrance (the retired WWE wrestler, not the U2 guitarist).
  3. We left with our friends at the top of the 8th inning...kids at home who needed to get picked up, etc. We left just before Span's three run blast and the two subsequent homers. We had a great day being back at Miller Park, despite the lousy outcome on the field and less than ideal April weather.
  4. I wish the weather forecast was looking more like April weather than January, but I'm still pumped to be going tomorrow!
  5. I would too. This team reminds me somewhat of the 2005 team, but maybe slightly less talented. Some decent pieces in place, but a big question mark of a rotation and probably not enough reliably consistent bats in the lineup. I figure they're about a 75-78 win team right now. They won't lose 100 games.
  6. Yes, they could be a team that surprises some folks. I don't think they'll finish with a winning record, but they will go on some streaks and be the kind of team that plays spoiler (and I know that's not exactly something to get that excited about). I think they will be fun to watch. Definitely excited for Opening Day this year. Nice article from Jim Breen...glad to see he's still writing about the Brewers.
  7. I've had good luck with Black & Decker and Milwaukee brand stuff. Not so much with Skil. I'm not a handyman by any means, though.
  8. Getting a refund, rather than paying in, at tax time for the first time in quite a while.
  9. Not to get political, but I think the days of tax payer financed stadiums are going to become a thing of the past, sooner rather than later. Stories like this are a good example as to why.
  10. I remember when the Marlins were still in Dolphins Stadium (or whatever it was called in any given month), and they couldn't have had more than a couple hundred fans one day, yet the announced attendance was still 15,000 or something.
  11. Wolf was pretty solid the first two years of his contract. It was in 2012 where the wheels came off for him. In a bit of irony, he was released by the Brewers on his birthday that year.
  12. It does seem a bit odd. He's only 30, so it's not like he's over the hill at this point. Perhaps a general fear that his 2015 season was an outlier? He did pitch in far more games than in any other season of his career.
  13. I wonder if they were just some weird variation sold at Kohl's or something.
  14. I remember hearing about some car break ins that happened in the parking lot a while back. I suppose that sort of thing can happen at any ballpark, though. During the day time the area is probably OK, but I definitely wouldn't wander around that neighborhood at night. It's clearly an economically depressed area. Like I said a while back in this thread, you drive out of the parking lot, and there are folks begging for change along the street's median. Neighborhoods surrounding the ballpark look pretty rundown, etc. Just not a great place. The Brewers would be better suited to move to a nicer area where people could also enjoy shopping, dining, bars, etc. The ballpark is fine from a fan standpoint and a plain old "watching a ballgame" experience, though I still say other stadiums have better food offerings, better club stores, etc.
  15. I disagree on your opinion on Maryvale. Maybe it has improved in the six years since my wife and I went down there, but I remember the first thing we were told by someone at the hotel we were staying at was, "Yeah, most of this area is pretty good, other than Maryvale...oh, you're Brewers fans? Well, it's not so bad if you just go to the stadium..." I do personally prefer that they stay in Arizona, if at all possible.
  16. I have never seen that one before. Pretty funny. I too, wonder if it worked.
  17. That's never fun. Most of my friends from college are scattered far and wide.
  18. My dad says "hardball" all the time, and yes he's from the same generation you guys are talking about.
  19. I'd love to wager on this. I think it's much more likely the Brewers improve on last year's record than they lose 100 games. I was talking with my dad about this yesterday. 68 wins is a pretty low bar. It really hinges, to me, on the Brewers' starting pitching. Is our young pitching going to step up to their potential? Hard to say right now.
  20. I'm honestly not worried about Lucroy using his no-trade clause. Chances are high that any team trading the right pieces for him will be a contender getting ready to "win now." Lucroy isn't dumb...he knows he's not getting younger and that as a catcher, he is probably more susceptible to injury than players at other positions.
  21. I can't imagine it would be any different. Now I'm interested in Santana. I think he's going to be Khris Davis II, with new and improved defense. A lot of swing and miss though. I really don't think this deal makes the team any worse this year. Am I wrong? Not worse at all. Younger, too.
  22. Our new catcher kind of has a resemblance to a young Jose Canseco. Twitter handle is @JayNott %5Battachment=0%5D
  23. Hearing a lot of positive things about Nottingham. Already being talked about as Lucroy's heir apparent.
  24. It really is a great ad. I saw it and was immediately pumped for Opening Day and the return of baseball. Counsell is very popular with the fans, being a "hometown" guy, and it makes a lot of sense to use him in the marketing.
  25. Well, here's an idea that I bet some MLB team will copy sooner than later: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/02/05/the-orix-buffaloes-have-gone-to-plaid/
