  1. Lincecum was no better than a 4-5 when he threw his last no hitter. Chris Heston is probably a 4-5. Somebody already mentioned Humber. Dallas Braden. Eric Milton. Scott Erickson. Hideo Nomo threw one later in his career when he was basically a bottom of the rotation pitcher for the Red Sox. It happens. Still, good for Fiers. What a weird Brewers game last night, though. Lohse for 2016 closer!
  2. I wasn't able to listen earlier this afternoon, but I know Uke had been dealing with some voice issues. He sounded, frankly, terrible when I heard him on the radio Sunday. That could be more of a part of him sounding muted in his excitement than any possible ill feelings towards Braun.
  3. Thanks...I can't believe I forgot that small fact. *headsmack*
  4. He's been bad for the Orioles so far. Glad we traded him when we did. He was never going to keep up that kind of production. The danger of small samples is one good weekend can change things in a hurry. Now hitting a healthy 295/348/492 for Baltimore and local sports guys asking that he get extended. Well, I guess he showed me then! I'm glad he is playing well for them, in all honesty. Liked him for the time he was here, but trading him was still the right move.
  5. It's a bit unusual. Does Roenicke have ties to the Dodgers somehow?
  6. Per Jim Bowden on Twitter.
  7. 33,920. It looked reasonably full early in the game. I can't say I paid much attention to the crowd later on. Our seats were in the left field bleachers. By the fourth inning, the sun was beating down on us really badly. My wife and I ended up standing in the area above there for a while, then kind of wandered around Miller Park the rest of the game. I think a lot of others did the same.
  8. I'll be at this one today...going with a group bus trip...no idea where our seats are. Looking forward to it, though!
  9. He's been bad for the Orioles so far. Glad we traded him when we did. He was never going to keep up that kind of production.
  10. Craig Counsell after this one: “We got our butts kicked. That’s pretty simple. The Cubs are playing well, but we got our butts kicked."
  11. That's tough. Hang in there.
  12. Isn't Miller Park pretty neutral over all?
  13. My solution to making the stadium feel more "open" would be to de-clutter the outfield area. There are so many advertising signs, etc. out there now that they may as well have built an entire complete seating area out there with another LED ribbon board. I know they can't really do this because they need the advertising revenue, though.
  14. I agree. I'd rather here plain truthful speaking, rather than standard lines about "grinding things out," and "We need to keep playing hard every day," etc.
  15. I thought he looked like a classic Doug Melvin dumpster dive reliever find after his first outing. Maybe I was wrong!
  16. He is having a bit of a down second half. Baseball-reference.com has him with a .714 OPS in the last 28 days. He is still flashing occasional power, so it's hard to say if it's an injury recurrence or if he's just pressing a bit at the plate.
  17. Braun sure. I have no idea why you used Lucroy as an example. He's paying him on average $2.2M per year. Even Loria would pay that. So they should have signed him to a higher dollar contract for the same length of time, just to make some sort of philosophical point?
  18. How exactly Attanasio been a "cheap skate"? Long term contracts have been given to Lucroy and Braun. We have signed fairly high dollar free agents like Aramis Ramirez, Matt Garza, and Kyle Lohse in recent years. We'll never be the New York Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers, but the team's payroll is competitive.
  19. This. Melvin can't force the other team to do something they don't want to do.
  20. Yeah, there's no reason to think the Brewers won't be looking to possibly deal Lind this off-season. I doubt they see him as a long term piece at all. He could even possibly be moved in August as a waiver deal (though that seems like a reach).
  21. Knock this off now or get banned. This kind of over the top condescension isn't tolerated here and you know it.
  22. "Yes, but Melvin could have possibly held out and got one or two more prospect guys for a reliever we don't really need anymore."
  23. Well, a lot of the negativity in this thread got deep sixed in the past 24 hours, I guess.
