  1. Yeah, we probably should have done that, but hindsight is 20/20 I guess.
  2. Yeah. It took literally an hour and a half to get from the fairgrounds to Miller Park. Just an unbelievable crawl on I94.
  3. Pretty sure I just had my least enjoyable Brewers game ever. We left Fort Atkinson at 10am, finally got to Miller Park at 1230pm. Got into the stadium during the bottom of the 4th inning... Finally got to our seats at the top of the 6th. Great seats, lousy game. Our son was super cranky, and made a scene while we left during the 8th inning. Nothing really redeeming about this trip.
  4. Orlando Arcia looking really great, with another home run.
  5. So is the WBC going away or not? I actually liked it, as it was like a World Cup for baseball...not just "another sport" in the Olympics.
  6. I was sorry to hear about this yesterday. As others have noted, I hope this is just a blip on the radar that he can bounce back from, both personally and professionally. He has been such a good comeback story, and I'd hate to see his career harmed long term by an incident like this.
  7. We just recently cancelled our cable TV (Charter) and started on Sling. We tried Vue, but could not get Brewers games on that service. Sling has the FS-Wisconsin feed when the Brewers are on. Maybe in the fall I'll switch to Vue for Big Ten. Otherwise, we've been very impressed with Sling and the value we get for $25 dollars a month. We kept Charter for our internet service. What's funny is the "bundling" with cable TV was only saving us a whopping six bucks a month.
  8. I have to believe if Bud Selig is out front advocating for this, he is probably willing to donate money himself, and probably has others lined up to do the same.
  9. This tweet says that Bud Selig is supporting the idea of a return of the baseball program to UW-Madison. https://twitter.com/SST_WI/status/766697772032589824
  10. Yes, he will and should be back next year. Every indication I've seen is that the organization is haply with Counsell right now.
  11. Pro wrestlers used to be able to buy lucrative insurance policies from Lloyd's of London. They eventually got out of that game when it no longer made financial sense. Maybe the same thing could happen eventually with baseball, given how salaries continue to escalate.
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing him back, but I just don't see how there's possibly a place for him in the organization. Maybe if Braun gets traded in the off-season or something crazy like that, then maybe I could see it.
  13. Maybe someday Braun & Fielder can have a combined statue outside Miller Park. Pretty much the best 3/4 combo in the past 20 years of Brewers history.
  14. Correct. That is the bar that has been set by the Brewers for number retirement...hence why some longtime Brewers have not had their number retired, Jim Gantner being a prime example. Prince finishes having played 12 seasons, with 319 homers, 1028 RBIs, a career .283/.382/.506/.887 slash line. Very nice numbers, but not Hall of Fame or number retirement worthy. He should definitely be on the Walk of Fame/Wall of Fame/whatever they're doing at Miller Park these days.
  15. Sad news. I didn't begrudge him for leaving when he did. We got to see his best years. I hope he comes back to Milwaukee and officially retires as a Brewer.
  16. Yea, it's probably overdone, but if he didn't do it lots of people would point that out. You really can't win if you're Luc. Nothing he can do or say at this point to change anyone's mind about him. I guess the main thing is that some Brewers fans will make sure to mention his turning down the trade every time he is discussed for the next 30 or 40 years. Sort of like Paul Molitor's admitted cocaine use or how Hank Aaron took a greenie that one time.
  17. Nelson Cruz was never a big deal imo. It took him years to be good, when he finally got good it was only at home in that park of theirs and at some point in there he started using PEDs. He only ever had 1 really good year for the Rangers and most of his major success was for another team after his service time was over. Note that I wasn't just talking about the performance of the respective players...I'm also talking about fans bringing these trades up as mistakes, years after the fact.
  18. Is Khris Davis going to turn into Stearns' Nelson Cruz? I kind of doubt it, but a franchise can't win every single trade.
  19. I always felt like Corey Hart was a bit underrated when he was in his prime. He was a very good hitting corner outfielder, but I feel like he was a bit underappreciated by some fans when he was here. His defense was sometimes suspect, but his bat usually made up for those deficiencies. My favorite Corey Hart memory was from a few years ago when my wife and I attended the "On Deck" winter event in Milwaukee. They had a kids Q&A session with Corey, Rickie Weeks, and someone else (a pitcher, I think, but can't remember who). The very first question asked, a child asked Corey Hart, "Corey, where did you go to college?" Hart handled it pretty well. He said, "Well, I could have gone to the University of Tennessee on a baseball scholarship, but I decided to play with the Brewers instead."
  20. We recently dumped cable. I had resigned myself to not being able to watch the Brewers on TV anymore, at least for the rest of this season. We started a free trial of SlingTV last night on our Roku streaming stick. They had the Brewers listed in their lineup...I went to it, and sure enough, I was watching the Brewers live. I had no idea you could get the FS-Wisconsin on that service. Seems like an under the radar kind of secret. Now I have no reason to go back to cable at all, maybe ever.
  21. Thanks for the great message from Mr. Jeffress. I really enjoyed watching him pitch...hope he and Lucroy can be part of a big run this October.
  22. Is there a Trader Joe's in your area? Seems like they are the opposite of what you don't want in a grocery store.
  23. I really didn't expect to be reading about this today. Kind of surprised. Not sure how to feel about it due to the service clock issue. That said, I hope he does well.
  24. The return seems slightly light for two all star caliber players, but I suppose a lot hinges on the PTBNL. At least the two prospects are high ranking.
  25. Rangers still in on Lucroy, reportedly.
