  1. Boy, that's a fun stat, isn't it? Also in the Brewers' last 11 series, they have only won the final game of a series once, against the Indians. It seems like they're begging to get to the All Star break. Hopefully the rest will let the offense regroup and remember how to score more than one run per game.
  2. Tough loss. It's a shame that they wasted such a great start from Parra. It seems like the Brewers offense has gone into another of their patented hibernation streaks.
  3. I agree. At this point I'd almost be inclined to ride out Fielder for the next couple seasons and then take the comp picks.
  4. I agree I'd rather part with Escobar. Hardy will turn things around sooner than later and hopefully by the end of '10, we'll have someone else ready in the minors to step in at shortstop. Or a trade or FA signing can be made.
  5. I was worried that might be somewhat scathing, but that was cartoon was just lame.
  6. I don't know. It's still banking a lot on two younger guys, neither of whom have pitched a full season as a starter in MLB, and three very average-mediocre guys. Team that make the post-season usually have a bit more to boast out of their rotation than that.
  7. Well, Cameron, Kendall, and Hoffman are all likely gone after this season, so that frees up over $20 million right there. Hart would be gone so you don't have to worry about his arbitration raise. Would still have to increase payroll a bit, but I don't think it would be crippling.
  8. It would have to be something like. Halladay and Rios for Hart, Escobar, Green, Anundsen and Periard or something along those lines. That might not even be enough. Halladay is that good. I think that would be worth exploring. We would get Halladay and a serviceable replacement for Cameron after next year. We'd give up Escobar, but I think all the other guys we'd lose would be acceptable lossses.
  9. I like it...Rios has a lengthy contract, but his annual salary tops out around $14 million or so, which isn't any worse than what Suppan is making now.
  10. Good first post, welcome aboard. Tejada might actually make decent sense for Boston. He would just be a rental, and shouldn't cost too much. He's hitting .330 and still provides good defense. This all depends on whether or not the 'Stros face the reality that they are probably out of it anytime soon.
  11. Realistically any trade proposal with Toronto will probably have to start with Escobar, it would seem like. They'll need a shortstop soon, and will want a player they can control for a number of years. Edit: Also, apparently the Cardinals have "real interest" in Halladay, according to MLB Trade Rumors. That may mean nothing, but I would hate to see them get him in a trade. We would probably have to kiss our chances of winning the division goodbye, realistically.
  12. Geovanny Soto, but he's had injury issues, yet has been heating up a bit lately.
  13. "Josie's on vacation far away...come on and talk it over..." Love that music, for some reason.
  14. Fielder just made a tremendous play...threw from the ground while seated. BTW, chat is on. *cough*
  15. Great AB by Counsell followed by another terrible effort by Hardy. Suppan looked great in the first inning...here's to hoping he can keep it up.
  16. So, does the ump get punished at all? We should at least get to hear about what happens on that side.
  17. Yeah, I had no idea it was an actual person either. Sounds like he had a pretty successful life.
  18. That's way better than those awful red ones from this year.
  19. I know no one wants to "mortgage the future", etc...but if there's any way we can get a pitcher of this caliber, it needs to get done. World Series by 2010 or bust, in my view.
  20. Just look at the guy's face. I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley.
