  1. Apparently the Brewers' dance team has lost their previous sponsorship (not sure if they mean a corporate sponsor or the Milwaukee Brewers themselves) and may not return next season. A Facebook page has been started: Save the Milwaukee Diamond Dancers: https://www.facebook.com/savethemilwaukeediamonddancers I'm ambivalent on them, but I know some may like or dislike having a dance team during Brewers baseball games.
  2. Seems like a reasonable deal for them. The White Sox seem to suddenly be in "go for it" mode...or maybe they're just trying to stay relevant in Chicago.
  3. The time to really go for broke for a free agent pitcher was when Sabathia's contract was up after 2008. However, we all know the Yankees would have topped any contract Milwaukee offered. When Greinke was traded, it seemed like he wasn't really interested in staying with the Brewers anyway.
  4. I would think they might look to trade at least one SP at this point, rather than acquire another.
  5. He was terrible last year, and I was so glad the Brewers didn't get desperate and sign him, as many fans wanted them to. Really seems like a dumb move by the Royals. Don't they already have quite a few 1B types?
  6. I hope he maybe has a chance to make it with Baltimore since that probably wasn't going to happen in Milwaukee.
  7. I guess we'll get another sarcastic writeup about this now.
  8. Apparently Doug Melvin suffered a broken ankle a couple days ago. Not sure of the circumstances.
  9. We went today on a whim, while driving back home from an overnight stay in Milwaukee. A lot of cool game used stuff, but it was all ridiculously expensive. I probably would have bought a couple shirts for myself, but sadly I'm a large, and those were pretty much all gone. We did get a cap and shirt for our son, though.
  10. The money seems a bit high, but it's a feel good type of move and only a one year deal. Good for him and good for the Twins, I guess. re: that reporter, they should be reprimanded or possibly fired for acting like that.
  11. This sounds like the kind of trade the Brewers would have made in the latter part of the Selig Era. I guess no one told Bowden that Mark Attanasio owns the team now.
  12. Let's hope this surgery isn't the equivalent of Bill Hall's lasik surgery several years ago.
  13. Guessing so, at least to some extent. From the past couple years, it seems like Saturday night attendance can be mediocre, or it can be a sellout.
  14. Congrats on your purchase. Make sure to calibrate your Sony's picture, if you haven't already. You should be able to find reliable setting suggestions online through a Google search. A lot of TVs come out of the box with the contrast setting all jacked up, etc.
  15. I don't know Nichols or OAR at all, but I would probably stick around for Goo Goo Dolls if I have the chance. I don't think people have much to complain about. These are basically free concerts you get with purchasing a game ticket. It wasn't going to be Katy Perry or someone of that level.
  16. I like it, though there's a lot of negative reaction on Twitter, it seems. Better than something generic like "Stars", in my opinion.
  17. I'm glad the Brewers didn't go after Sandoval, as had been rumored, if that was the kind of contract it would take.
  18. Yeah, I'll admit he's a name that's kind of flown under the radar for me as well. I just don't have time to follow the whole of MLB like I used to ("real life" tends to get in the way of that). Good for him and good for Seattle, though.
  19. Johnson seems like a 1st ballot shoo-in, and I would think Smoltz has a strong chance as well. Hoping Sheffield doesn't make it in eventually, though he probably will. Not really sure on Pedro...he'll probably be voted in eventually, but the writers will probably make him "pledge" and not vote him in this go-around. I would guess Biggio and Piazza probably make it this time as well.
  20. Seems like signing mediocre position players to big multi-year contracts is the trend this winter for some reason.
  21. That would be interesting. The problem would be that a traditional solid state amp would be too big and add too much weight to a standard flat panel set.
  22. Personally I'd rather buy a TV that didn't even have speakers, since any decent sized TV I have will be part of a surround sound setup, but that's just me. I actually have a 50" Pioneer (sadly, they no longer make TVs) in our living room that came with a detachable speaker. I've never even used the speaker.
  23. Most of the major TVs, especially in larger sizes, are "smart" now. It's more of a throw in feature than anything. I doubt you'll pay much of a price difference for a "smart" TV versus a "dumb" one in 2014.
  24. Yeah, I have heard the same thing about Vizios. Seems like you either get a great one, or one that is kind of a dud out of the box.
  25. Really great story. Sounds like it's been a very rewarding, though tough, journey for you and Mr. Chapman.
