  1. Our church is doing a "trunk or treat" event later this afternoon in our parking lot. Not really looking forward to it now with this brutal weather.
  2. The increasing trend of news stories and social media posts devoted to parents demonstrating basic common sense parenting skills. I just saw one applauding a dad who publicly admonished his 10 year old for dressing like she was much older and lying about her age. Why does that have to be a news story?
  3. They're as much a dynasty as there's been in about the last fifteen years of baseball history.
  4. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/99976866/brewers-announce-new-timeless-ticket Basically, it's a limited edition bronze ticket engraved with the purchaser's name. Only 1,000 are being produced, and it guarantees you a ticket to any future Brewers home game. Cost is $1,000.00.
  5. It's still a thing, but hasn't really taken off. 4K/UHD TVs are the big thing right now.
  6. Pretty eerie that it was just over seven years ago that Josh Hancock died in a car accident as well. Tough for the Cardinals organization. How sad for the families involved.
  7. I remember when I took my driving test, I did manage to pull off the parallel parking part of the test fine, even though I definitely wasn't great at it. Afterwards, the guy administering the test said, "You did OK, but you came close to hitting the car in front of you, and it was my car." I remember thinking, "Wow, you're an idiot if you're having a 16 your old without a license try to parallel park behind your own car." Oh well, I still passed.
  8. Well, I guess Bumgarner not starting didn't affect the Giants too much.
  9. I hope people realize that if Maddon wasn't happy in Tampa, there's no way he's coming to Milwaukee. Sounds like it's big market or bust for him.
  10. Yeah, Joel Sherman is reporting similar now that things are pointing toward him going to the Cubs. Braves and Blue Jays also mentioned as possibilities though.
  11. They were negotiating right up until the point Maddon opted out. Well, that could still theoretically be part of the process then, couldn't it?
  12. Is it possible this could just be a negotiation tactic buy Maddon to secure a new contract extension from the Rays? Thought just crossed my mind.
  13. The Brewers have made it clear they're going to stick with Roenicke going into next season, so that scenario won't play out. Friedman has supposedly been on board with keeping Mattingly on in LA, so it seems like going to the Twins is Maddon's only opportunity as of right now.
  14. If the casual fans "don't care", then how come those games always sell out (or at least come close)? Teams have never been offering these promos to please "collectors" anyway.
  15. It's probably so the permit sticker is more easily seen.
  16. Heh. That was a fun read. I actually didn't realize Dunn had announced his retirement. It doesn't seem like all that long ago we were getting excited on this forum, thinking Melvin had traded for him.
  17. Sounds like he is well liked and well regarded among players. Former Mariners outfielder. Adam McCalvy saying he'll likely be an MLB manager someday.
  18. Well, we have our selves a real Series after last night. Royals won 7-2.
  19. I think MLB has structured it so all online revenues are shared equally between all 30 clubs. So even if the Brewers "went rogue" and started offering a subscription like that, I don't think they'd get to keep all the revenue from it.
  20. I'm OK bringing him back on a one year deal. A multi-year contract absolutely should not happen, though. He's just too old and there's too much risk and downside to that idea.
  21. Isn't it kind of weird that the Series doesn't start until Tuesday? I'm surprised the first game wasn't scheduled for either tonight or tomorrow. But yes, I plan to watch as much as I can, and will be cheering for the Royals. Don't really like the Giants and the Royals are just too good a story this year to not get behind.
  22. It's really too bad there isn't a way to get home market MLB games ala cart. I would think and hope that day will come eventually.
  23. Being considered a better manager than Ron Roenicke or Ken Macha hardly makes one "great" I think the way Mark A handled the Yost situation, firing him like he did with just a week or two left in the season, was very bush league and cheap. That the Brewers seem to be bungling their manager position ever since hardly seems like a surprise There's no doubt in my mind that if Yost hadn't been fired, we would have not made the playoffs in 2008.
  24. I'm not exactly a big Giants fan, but so glad it's not the Cardinals going to the World Series.
  25. We were two wins away from the World Series in 2011. We would have been in if just a small handful of things broke our way. People need to have a bit of perspective. I do agree with BrewersSuperCollector that Macha never had a chance. He was here for two years with basically the worst starting rotation in the NL. I didn't like him much as a manager, but it's hard to blame him for the poor records those teams had in '09-'10.
