  1. Probably. Those two brands get recommended a lot on AVS Forum (sort of like a Brewerfan.net for home theater talk).
  2. I love plasma, but it's not good in a brighter room or if you're going to do a lot of daytime viewing, etc. LEDs are actually a great option and have come down in price quite a bit. 4K is probably not worth investing in at this point...there simply isn't much 4K content out there right now. Also, skip the curve TVs, if you're even considering them. As far as other brands, Panasonic is good and some people like Vizio. Samsung is really well regarded and a very safe option.
  3. I didn't realize you and the SO both worked in libraries. Go figure...learn something new every day.
  4. I don't think I know anyone that actually enjoys Maroon 5's music. They just seem to be a "thing" that has been around for like the last decade or so.
  5. It can vary wildly, depending on your vehicle. I've changed out a headlight on my Volkswagen Jetta , and it was extremely easy. When I had a Chrysler Sebring, it was ridiculously difficult to do so and required help from my dad to pry off one of the panels.
  6. Let's not forget that they've brought in many local investors into their ownership group as well. I believe they really are sincere in wanting to keep the team in Milwaukee.
  7. Remember when Heyward was being heralded as the second coming of Mickey Mantle, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays all rolled into one, and looked like he'd be the face of baseball in Atlanta for the next couple decades? Well, now that's going to come to fruition, except it will be in St. Louis. (That should be in half-blue font).
  8. Baseball is so awash in cash it's ridiculous. The era of the mega contracts is clearly back in full force, if it ever even went away.
  9. So relieved this is looking to be a relatively low stress Christmas for our family. After 10 years of the same tradition, we will NOT be making a four hour drive back home from the in-laws' on Christmas day (they live way up in the north woods of Wisconsin). I'm sure my wife will be a bit down that we won't be going up to her parents this year, but I'm glad our son will get to have Christmas morning in our own home. I think my in-laws are frankly relieved that we're not coming up two days before Christmas this year, like we have for the past decade. The last couple years have been fairly high stress for everyone involved, and it was time for a change.
  10. So... They got their pretty new stadium, signed a bunch of free agents... Then when that team underperformed, they had a massive fire sale. Now they sign their one star to a massively insane contract. Way to go, Marlins.
  11. Haha...yeah, that Harley concert thing was pretty crazy with all the speculation. I agree we'll probably see one older classic rock act, some kind of country artist, and maybe a younger alternative band. I hope it's not just some local group like the BoDeans (as someone referenced earlier), no offense to them.
  12. Already sounds like the Brewers got the better end of this deal. Wren has to develop his hit tool to be much at the MLB level though. I wonder if this could make the Brewers more inclined to deal Gomez if the right trade comes along. They actually have a bit of depth at the CF position now.
  13. It's obvious their owner is desperate for a championship before he passes on, but the Tigers are getting silly with their money.
  14. I wonder what the Mexican fans think of Yuni B. Maybe he'll become a national sensation down there.
  15. I was just going to post about this. It has to make you a bit giddy, and Melvin will look like a genius if Wang is able to continue developing and perform anything like that at the big league level.
  16. This is one I'm excited about. I think it's been something like 10 years since the team has put out a regular sized Molitor bobble. Also pretty cool that Selig is finally getting a bobble. Well deserved.
  17. Funny thing about Michaels. Back in the 90's when he first started on WTMJ, I thought he called himself The Big Eunuch. So in my mind, that always stuck. I've found that Michaels has become much more tolerable now that he's not on "the flagship." I think maybe having some freedom to not constantly kiss the rear ends of the local franchises has made him much better on air.
  18. I don't listen as much as I used to, but I usually listen to 1250 when I have the chance. I used to like 540 ESPN, but I always seem to tune in during whatever national shows they have on, and hear them talking about the Lakers or some other national story I really don't care about. 1250 has very good coverage of the Brewers and other local sports. 540's local shows also seem to focus heavily on the Green Bay Packers, and that bores me tremendously. I love the Packers, but don't need to hear about how practice on any given day went.
  19. I wish I knew, but I don't. Not really that familiar with ins and outs of S corps. When in doubt, call an accountant.
  20. No one ever pretended he was a superstar...he was a solid utility infielder type who had a very nice career, all things considered. No need to get down on the guy for not being a perennial All-Star.
  21. Got an email this morning that MLB's online store is having a sale on select replica jerseys. A lot of them appear to be older styles, but seems like some good deals available: http://shop.mlb.com/category/index.jsp?categoryId=1452620&cp=1452371
  22. Once again the voters prove the Gold Glove is more of a reputation award than anything. Oh well.
  23. I think those are copout excuses. By 1992, Molitor's drug issues were well behind him. IIRC, his admitted drug use happened in the early '80s. re: Injuries, from 1988-1992, Molitor had only one season where he played less than 154 games. So he was relatively healthy as a player the past few seasons up until the '92 off-season.
  24. It's really ridiculous to look back and realize that Yount wasn't really that great anymore after his amazing 1989 MVP season (never above a .717 OPS in his remaining four seasons, as you pointed out), yet we kept him around and let Molitor go. Molitor went on to win the World Series MVP award in 1993 with the Blue Jays, while the Brewers stunk and continued to be terrible for over a decade following. Selig and Bando low balled the wrong player, in retrospect.
  25. That's a great point, though they may not make any more significant additions during winter, and wait to "save" some payroll room until mid-season. Then they'll make a trade and bring on payroll if they're in the thick of the playoff hunt. That's kind of been Attanasio's modus operandi the past few years.
