  1. They're still the Cubs, and Turner isn't very good. Hopefully Broxton joining the team gives these guys the kick in the pants they've needed. Here's to hoping that Nelson pitches halfway decently and the offense remembers that they can score more than a couple runs per game.
  2. Last I checked, we added Parra, just added Jonathan Broxton...we also apparently seriously tried to add Justin Morneau. Acting like Melvin has just been sitting in his office twiddling his thumbs is just ridiculous.
  3. Tough one today with Bumgarner pitching, and coming off a big outing in his last appearance. Hopefully the news of the Broxton trade gets the team pumped up and our lineup actually scores some runs. Lohse is usually reliable on a day like today, but he needs run support.
  4. I don't know about that, but the bullpen has needed some help and this should give them a huge boost. Broxton is putting up great numbers this season...the budgetary aspect doesn't worry me too much, since a lot could happen in the off-season, and it's not like any of us really know the Brewers' full financial picture anyway.
  5. I decided to skip this one last night, and was glad I did. Our pitching is bad right now and our hitting seems very inconsistent game-to-game. This is getting ugly.
  6. The Rockies are kind of in that dangerous gray area where their team isn't so bad that they need to tear it up and rebuild, but not so good they can really make some big time moves to contend next season either.
  7. Apparently the Brewers put a waiver claim on him and made an offer, but he's staying with the Rockies. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/24684403/brewers-won-morneau-claim-and-made-offer-but-hes-staying-in-colorado Would have been a great fit here right now...but it makes sense that the Rockies didn't want to part with him.
  8. Flip flops! I have to admit that's a giveaway item I haven't heard of before.
  9. Sounds good to me. Have to love seeing a homer go out immediately after coming out of a commercial break!
  10. He hit another home run tonight. Looks like he's doing OK to me, adjustments or not.
  11. Amen! This has been going on for as long as I remember (Brewer's getting bumped to a "lesser" station for a meaningless Packer game). I could be wrong, but this may also be the case when the Brewers are in the play offs and there is a conflict with a Packer game. Actually, I think in 2008 there was a game conflict when the Brewers made the post-season, and the Brewers did stay on WTMJ.
  12. Overall, Braun is still a very good player. He's just not having a great season...and it will remain to be seen if he returns to his past levels of greatness, or if this is a start of a gradual decline. I do think the thumb injury is really affecting him more than most want to admit. I do think his defense overall has looked solid in right field...seems like he's taken to the position way better than Corey Hart ever did. Of course, the missed fly ball late in the game yesterday will again bring up questions about his defensive capability.
  13. Yeah disappointing, but at the same time, the offense couldn't come up with a key hit when needed either. I agree with the sentiment that says Kintzler would not be missed.
  14. I think so. I do agree with the earlier comment that it's probably time for them to rebuild. This season has to be a pretty big gut punch to their fan base, since they were actually expected to compete again. At least the Reds have Cueto pitching tonight, so maybe they can yet pick up a win over St. Louis.
  15. So I guess Lesnar pretty thoroughly trounced Cena last night and took the title. What are they going to do with Cena from here, I wonder? Is he scheduled to take time off or something?
  16. Just a reminder that the Brewers are off today and this game is tomorrow.
  17. It just shows how crazy baseball can be... Split a series in Chicago, then sweep the Dodgers in Los Angeles. Gotta love it.
  18. I remember seeing that one in the theater and liking it. I think it wasn't all that well received because a lot of people just weren't comfortable watching Williams play a psychopath type of character.
  19. What a nice win last night...it was weird, because I fell asleep on the couch around the 6th inning...woke up seemingly soon after, then was confused why K-Rod was pitching. Then I realized it was already the bottom of the 9th inning. Clayton Kershaw made a comment after the game that Gallardo "out pitched" him. Gallardo has seemed to be stepping things up lately, and that's great to see with us soon heading into September.
  20. Maybe they're getting better quicker than expected. I had to turn this one off tonight though.
  21. To be honest cost isn't a big deal to me... My wife and I tend to get tickets for free from various people, and I try to get parking in advance if possible. Tailgating and bringing in snacks cuts down on additional food costs. I do agree fan etiquette has gone way down. It used to be you'd rarely have to get up from your seat unless it was between innings. Now it seems like it's no big deal for someone to try to walk through the row during a big at bat. It really is annoying. Another big pet peeve is the college bro types who feel the need to drop the F bomb every other word during a conversation. I tend to encounter this only during weekend games though. Overall I still make it to probably about six games a year. There's not much better to me than seeing a live baseball game on a nice summer day.
  22. Mine is in knots KNOWING who will pitch in the 9th. I'm really hoping the Crew can squeeze out at least one more run before then.
  23. Props to TLB for taking it upon himself to do these and get them posted in advance. I know the rest of the steering committee here at the site definitely appreciates it.
  24. Why would someone bother?
