  1. I'm hoping to see this this weekend. As long as they keep the tone of the last movie, it should be great. Last Sunday, since there wasn't too much else out that looked appealing, the wife and I saw "Journey to the Center of the Earth." It actually wasn't too bad...good family friendly type movie that didn't pander down to the audience too much. The funny moments were amusing without getting slapstick or stupid. Didn't get to see the 3D version, which I'm sure probably looks amazing.
  2. Well, it sounds like GM is finally trying to change, it's just a shame that so many people in the Janesville area will be affected by this. As far as new products, the Volt does sound promising, but is still a couple years off. They're not out of the woods yet.
  3. http://gazettextra.com/news/2008/jul/16/gm-wont-disclose-timetable-closing/ A small update. Sounds like the plant closure could be happening sooner, possibly by the end of this year.
  4. Right...the idea of what is a "Miller" product is pretty vague...seeing how they got bought/merged with SAB a few years ago. Like nate82 pointed out, most of the stuff you will be buying locally will still be produced in Milwaukee. Nothing wrong with trying other brews, though! I do disagree that the move "had nothing to do with the tax climate". It sounds like Chicago gave them a pretty good incentive to come there. I think it probably was going to go there regardless, but Miller isn't the only example of a company moving at least part of its operation out of state due to taxes or other factors.
  5. Yeah, I'm a little upset it's not happening for over a month yet, but at least we know this wasn't just another empty promise from a cable company at this point. Having all-HD next year will be a bonus, too.
  6. Things like this will continue happening until the tax and general business climate changes for the better in this state.
  7. I think the Brewers should keep Prince for at least one more year, with LaPorta now gone, and Gamel seeming like he's projecting more as a corner outfielder (maybe they can move Hart to CF). As for Rickie, I'd be fine with trading him, but I think a lot of people are viewing him through rose colored Brewers glasses at this point. People were complaining about Braun's OBP, but it's now actually higher than Rickie's (granted, he has more at bats than Weeks). I think most will admit that he's a terrible fit for the lead off spot, but I don't see how moving him down the order is going to make him suddenly change his approach and start hitting for more contact.
  8. Who would have thought we'd have TWO starters in the All Star Game? I'm pretty sure it's never happened for the Brewers before. Like others have pointed out, he probably won't pitch more than a couple innings, so I really don't think it's a big deal in the long run. It's tremendous exposure for the Brewers, and that is a great thing if you're a fan of the team.
  9. I have that same phone. Love it. Really helps keep me organized.
  10. Personally, I think the MLB owners have a private "gentlemen's agreement" not to hire Bonds anymore. Just a theory.
  11. Personally I am much preferring Anderson to Sutton at this point.
  12. As far as last night's game, I know everyone wants to rip the bullpen, and they mainly deserve it, but the offense last night was pretty anemic. They kept getting guys on, and it seemed like there was no attempt to move runners or manufacture runs. Every Brewers batter seemed to go up with the intent to hit one out of the ballpark. 2 runs in 9 innings isn't going to win too many games. Volquez pitched a great game, but it was quite winnable for a while. I think the Brewers offense blew about three or four chances to tie the game last night. Maybe that would have changed the complexion of the game. We'll never know.
  13. Yeah, I don't know why baseball fans in particular seem to get this feeling that they have the right to interfere with the play of the game if they have the chance. It's not amusing to anyone but them and their drunken friends.
  14. Apparently the Yankees may sign Sexson: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/yankees-conside.html Hilarious.
  15. The "last year's Craig Counsell" one at the end was hilarious. Also liked the Braun one. All of it was pretty accurate, as far as I could tell.
  16. I was excited about getting Grissom at the time, to be honest. It was nice to see the Brewers going out and getting a "name" player. The Molitor non-signing has to be one of the biggest middle fingers from any sports franchise to its entire fan base in the history of professional sports. It was completely disrespectful, to both Paul Molitor and the Milwaukee Brewers fans.
  17. It seems like all the smaller mom & pop type electronics stores around me are advertising that they have them. Might be worth a try if there is a place like that in your area.
  18. I knew it somehow had to be a joke, but was freaking out inside.
  19. I used to golf, but basically stopped after I finished college. I think it was partly not being able to find people my own age to golf with, and partly just not having the time or disposable income to do it with the retail job I was working (lots of weekends, etc). I'd also rather sleep in than get up early to golf, assuming I'd have the time (which I usually wouldn't anyway). When I did golf, I usually did 9 holes because it was cheaper, and the course I usually went to (Spring Creek in Cold Spring, outside Whitewater) is only a 9-er anyway. I don't really miss it. It can be a frustrating game, and I tend to get angry if I'm not doing well. Ah well.
  20. But the difference is that Loretta has had a pretty solid career since leaving Milwaukee.
  21. I thought the Davis trade was the right move at the time, but it's definitely not ended up being a good move in retrospect. I think it's also worth mentioning the trade for Scott Linebrink. I liked the move at the time, but looking bad, I think the Brewers would have been better off not making that move, and keeping those prospects to bring up or trade later. Of course, Linebrink is now pitching quite well for the White Sox, go figure. He just didn't seem to really improve the Brewers last season at all.
  22. I think if he didn't have an impending trial, teams would be a lot less reluctant to make him an offer. There's just too much baggage with the guy right now. To be honest, I don't know why this is suddenly a big story. It's been kind of nice not talking about Barry for the last three or four months.
  23. I don't think Sabathia would be against staying in Milwaukee...he may even like the idea somewhat. But in the end money talks.
  24. You have to wonder how many more years Jenkins has in him at this point. It seems like he is regressing pretty quickly. Just shows that the Brewers were smart to not re-sign him after last year. It's just too bad he wasn't able to be part of some better Brewers teams. You can basically say the same for Sexson. Amazing that just a few years ago, he was by far the best player the Brewers had, now he was just released by the worst team in the AL.
  25. I think Corey Hart may very well sign an extension this off season. It was probably smart of him to wait 'til after this season...his numbers will only boost the contract offer he gets at this point. It's not like the window is closed on him staying with the Brewers beyond his arbitration years.
