  1. Yeah, I think as far as determining fair/foul or home runs, replay is fine. No reason not to do it in this day and age. The main thing for me is that they don't allow the umps to take 10 minutes to review the play.
  2. McClung has probably been the most pleasant surprise thus far of the 2008 Brewers season. Who would have thought a relatiely mediocre reliever would turn into a solid starting pitcher?
  3. Well, hopefully today's game was a sign of things to come. It still makes me mad that we lost a series to the Twins at Miller Park, though.
  4. Some of the Miller Lite ones lately are really silly. The beer heaven commercial is pretty lame. I would sure hope that "beer heaven" has better stuff than that. Speaking of beer commercials, these are awesome:
  5. Yes, I realize "this is a discussion forum." I'm just saying that sometimes the seemingly knee jerk reaction of some to criticize every little potential logic flaw in someone's post (like in the example indicated), is a bit...well, tiresome.
  6. I agree. I keep thinking more and more lately: "When is it OUR turn?" Basically every other team in our region (Twins, Tigers, Cubs, White Sox, Cards, etc.) has been to the playoffs, or won a World Series, in the last fifteen years or so. The Brewers haven't done jack, and I'm tired of it. I agree with the sentiment about Melvin and Yost, stated a couple posts above. If this team doesn't make the playoffs once again this season, Mr. Attanasio needs to make major changes, and that includes letting both of them go. I'm sorry, but I'm sick of seeing the Cubs and Cardinals enjoy success, while we wait for next year, or wait for the next couple prospects to get called up from AAA. I'm not absolving the team, either. Prince Fielder keeps popping and grounding out seemingly almost every at bat, and Bill Hall has been mostly dreadful lately. It's a shame, because the starting rotation has actually been pretty decent. The lineup has made these last couple Twins starters look like Cy Young contenders, though.
  7. Agreed. As far as the people pointing out small sample sizes and stuff...it seems like there is a general culture on this board where some people feel the need to immediately search every post related to baseball for logic gaps. It's like people can't just state an opinion without it being scrutinized thoroughly, it sometimes feels like.
  8. Last night some Twins fans in our section were starting to get pretty annoying (section 214). I believe an usher even had to tell them to calm down. This group of guys, all in Twins gear, near the front of the section, kept holding up a sign that said "Bert, it's your turn", or something like that (obviously, directed at Bert Blyleven). Someone even threw a mini helmet at them towards the end of the game, which was kind of hilarious. I admit, I was half tempted to whip a water bottle at them after the Twins got the lead and they wouldn't sit down. I don't mind people standing up and cheering the opposing team, but it's like, you don't have to hold up your sign every half inning. Especially after the regular innings are over.
  9. That home run last night was about as loud as I've ever heard a crowd at Miller Park, at least since the game I was at in April '04 when Bill Hall hit a semi-legendary 9th inning home run against the Reds. It was a great moment...I was high fiving random Brewers fans, and the Twinkie fans around had to eat crow, at least for a short bit.
  10. Honestly, no offense to anyone, but this whole topic should just be locked at this point, IMHO. It's not generating any kind of objective or worthwhile conversation, and has already been discussed in several other threads.
  11. I was at this game last night. What a heartbreaker, and two losses in a row that I was at (I went Friday night as well). Thankfully I'm not going today, so hopefully they will avoid the sweep today and get a W. I really don't think you can blame this one on Yost. The defense was a bit shaky (again), and at some point you just run out of relievers to use. The Brewers batters all seemed to be swinging for the fences the entire night. There was no opportunity to play small ball, it seemed like.
  12. We took 106 to Hwy F to the interstate, and that worked fine yesterday. Of course, we were coming from Jefferson County.
  13. The talk about Prince's eating habits rise and fall with his home run production during any given week.
  14. Assuming neither Gagne or Turnbow can regain their Major League form, would the Brewers go out and get yet another veteran reliever, if they are still in contention around the All Star break? Billy Wagner could be available. Yes, he's scuffled a bit lately, but I think part of it is the messy situation with the Mets right now. He's been very vocal about his problems with the team, and the Mets seem to be in free fall mode right now. Of course, there are constant rumors that Willie Randolph is going to get canned...if so, you have to imagine the Mets might look to deal some of their more expensive pieces and rebuild for next year. He's a bit pricy...making about 10 million per year, if I'm not mistaken. Thoughts?
  15. I was at the game last night...what a mess. Every Brewers batter seemed to be swinging for the fences the whole game. I only booed Bill Hall when he made those errors, but really he just looked like trash the whole game. It pains me to say it, because I still like the guy as a player, but he's really doing nothing to prove his worth at all. I'm sure the Twins fans had a grand time, though. I'm going again today, and hope the Brewers pull their heads out of their rears and come up with a win.
  16. That would be nice for when my wife and I travel to northern or western Wisconsin, and it's sometimes hard to find an affiliate station, especially at night. MLB could use it to reach new markets pretty easily, too.
  17. That's debatable. Anyway, I personally like the variety of ballparks in MLB. It's better than the 1970s era when every new ballpark was basically the same, and lacking in much character at all.
  18. I enjoy the D-List. I like Olson, and the others don't bug me. At least none of them seem to go into the "Let's say something controversial and contrary just to stir people up" mode, like some other announcers.
  19. One thing I've been curious about...why is it that WAUK (or whatever it's called now on 540 AM) uses WTMJ's calls during their post game show, but WSSP typically uses the calls from the other team's radio network? Did WAUK pay to get exclusive rights to them or something?
  20. I'd guess that I would wait until someone who actually covers the Brewers on a regular basis says that their is "bad vibes" in the locker room before worrying about it.
  21. It's just a bunch of sizzle without any steak. I'm not impressed.
  22. Well, if your wife actually believe you need to buy her that stuff for every little occasion, then you've probably got bigger problems.
  23. The Tyrone ad doesn't air in my area, which is a shame because it sounds hilarious. The new Klement's ad with the families sitting around irritates me to no end. Also, the newer Miller commercials do nothing for me. I liked the old High Life Man ads where he'd say stuff like "If a baseball happens to come through your window, you won't mind...but if it's a soccer ball, there's going to be trouble."
  24. The Gagne signing could be the thing that sinks Melvin as GM. $10 million spent with very little return. Not his fault, but he was the one that took the risk, and so far it has completely backfired on him.
  25. My only beef with it is the flagpole and hill in CF. I'm surprised no one has suffered a severe injury making a play on that thing.
