  1. He may have ended Molitor's hit streak, but he's alright with me today. http://www.halloffamememorabilia.com/images/products/p-536525-rick-manning-autographed-hand-signed-mlb-baseball-card-milwaukee-brewers-1983-topps-t-aw-47927.jpg
  2. This lineup makes it feel almost like the Brewers are just openly taunting the Pirates now. "Here, we'll throw three terrible hitters in the lineup and you still won't beat us!" Hope they're right...
  3. I'll echo what an earlier poster said...for me, any good bar should have some sort of food. If there's no grill or menu, that's fine, but at least have popcorn or peanuts or something small. Makes the whole experience better for me. As far as alcohol goes, I'm really not all that fussy. I have my preferred brands (Ketel One, Bacardi, High Life), but if the bar I'm at doesn't have them, I don't get too upset as long as there's a decent alternative. The only time I was ticked was when a bar I was at (in Milwaukee) only had Bud products on tap. Not only do I not like Bud products, but in Milwaukee, that just seems wrong.
  4. PNC also sponsors the club level at Wrigley. I noticed when I was down there for the games on Monday and Tuesday.
  5. Great game! Nice to take 2 out of 3 to start the season. And I love that Diego caught on! (Should have read this thread before posting again in the other one, I guess.)
  6. Ha! Other than seeing Trevor Time for the first time, I think my wife got the biggest kick out of seeing that botched trivia question. She's still laughing about it today. I'm also in for "Diego Edmonds."
  7. And as I posted in the IGT, there was no untuck tonight after the Brewers win. It's pretty clear it was a Cameron thing. Of course, I fully expect everyone associated with the Cardinals to ignore that fact.
  8. I was at the game tonight and noticed two things - one, there was no untuckem after the win. Those faint-hearted Cardinals can rest easy, knowing that the sanctity of the game is intact. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif (In fact, I'll be expecting those reporters to write an apology now that it's clear this was a Mike Cameron tribute to his dad - no more Cameron = no more untucking. Ha.) Two, I really, really liked the video they played before the Brewers lineup was introduced. Lots of highlight snippets from the 40 years of team history. Very well done, and very unlike the cheesy crap they have used the last few years. Kudos, and I hope a copy of the video leaks onto YouTube somehow. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. Franklin Stubbs. And BF.net's favorite whipping boy for awhile, Chris Magruder. I still remember the jubilant thread after he got DFAd.
  10. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/brewers.htmlYeah, I'm a uniform dork, but the 90s uniform as described bothers me. The Brewers didn't wear the MB cap from '97-'99, they wore M hats (white M for home and gold M for road). Besides the fact that I liked those hats better than the MBs and would like to see them return, I think a team ought to be able to get its own history correct.
  11. That does sound odd, unless, like someone said before, his appendix ruptured or there was some sort of infection. I spent my 15th birthday in the hospital with a ruptured appendix, and it was not fun at all. It was close to a week before I could even handle any food besides Jello. And walking was difficult at first because they cut through some of my abdominal muscles and it hurt to stretch them out by standing upright. I can see where a doctor would say "no activity for 7 days." On the other hand, I was sick for a good solid week before going into the hospital, and it sounds like Corey's illness came on suddenly. And with the type of procedure that was done (different than what was done with me), it sounds like they wouldn't really have to cut up his ab muscles much either. Unless this was more serious than the Brewers are letting on, being out for a month seems like a pretty long time.
  12. Well, this is not a good start. Lots of pitches down the middle by Burns.
  13. Since I'm bored with the rain delay and since Felipe is playing tonight and wearing his #3, here are the other people who have worn #3 for the Brewers/Pilots: Joe Schultz, MGR (1969) Joe Lahoud, OF (1972-73) Deron Johnson, 1B (1974) Gorman Thomas, OF (1975-76) Ed Kirkpatrick, IF (1977) Juan Castillo, IF (1986-89) Dante Bichette, OF (1991) Phil Garner, MGR (1992-1999) Jerry Royster, CH/MGR (2000-2002) Ned Yost, MGR (2003-2008) Yikes. Not exactly a murderer's row. Also did not realize how many years the manager wore #3.
  14. 3 is a good middle infielder number. Juan Castillo, anyone? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Same scenario as brains and braun for me, although before kicking me to the waiting room (for Tuesday's game) it told me that there were no seats available in the loge outfield section for Wednesday's game. Since I didn't see anything about purchase limits, I'm sure a few jerks bought up huge chunks of the seats and will be scalping them.
  16. Maybe it's been clarified and I've missed it (if that's the case, I'm sorry), but have any of the Cardinals players or coaches actually complained about this? Or is it just their announcers and beat writers (and the fans who listen to/read them)? Media folk will get outraged over just about anything if it will get people to pay attention to them, and a lot of fans will buy into whatever they hear or see. I'm glad that the Brewers players and coaches seem to be staying out of it...remember a while back when the White Sox announcers actually got Phil Garner to challenge them to a fight because they complained about him throwing at hitters? That's something I don't care to see again.
  17. I think this episode was Charles' last one. I thought it was great the way that Michael wouldn't let him say anything on the way out, just like Charles did to him. And Michael had two awesome lines tonight... "My how the turntables...." "Our balls are in your court."
  18. The clock thing killed me too...first that the Michael Scott Paper Company would need to know what time it is in Paris or anywhere else for that matter. Second, that the far right clock was just "USA." I like the subtle little things in the background - no character made any reference to them or anything, but that was one of the funniest parts of the show for me.
  19. Orioles' bullpen trying hard to keep the Yankees in the game...some mammoth shots by Posada and Matsui.
  20. Hooray for UConn going down! I can't think of a college coach that I like less than Jim Calhoun. Between him, the illegal recruiting allegations, and things like the AJ Price laptop situation, I've got some serious UConn dislike going on. And hawing, you're right. Rooting for Michigan State is most certainly the lesser of two evils. I imagine a lot of the country outside of North Carolina will be rooting for them tomorrow night.
  21. That extra quarter "convenience charge" helps the vendors out as well. I was a peanut vendor during the last few years of County Stadium and the first few years of Miller Park. When the team switched stadiums, the price of peanuts went up from $3.00 a bag to $3.25. That extra quarter got me a lot more money in tips, because lots of fans are much more likely to say "keep the silver" and not bother fumbling with coins than they are to send an extra bill down the aisle. 75 extra cents a bag adds up pretty quickly. I have no idea what any of the concessions cost these days (I generally stuff myself tailgating and don't buy food), but that extra quarter in the stands might be there to help the vendors out a little bit.
  22. 1986 was the first year of gray road jerseys for the Brewers. They were exactly the same style as the version of powder blues worn from 1978-1985, except gray. In 1990, the Brewers tweaked their design slightly, going to button-down jerseys, script lettering on the home jersey, and adding a tail to the "Milwaukee" and tweaking the trim on the road jerseys. Those were the jerseys that Willie Randolph wore (he played here in 1991; the Brewers wore those jerseys from 1990-1993). EDIT: I might add, I am the proud owner of a '86-'89 Paul Molitor gray road jersey. Those jerseys are tough to find, because most everything retro is either the home pinstripes or powder blue, but good old eBay came through for me. Since those were the years that I really started to get into baseball as a little kid, those are the jerseys that I most associate with the Brewers and happy memories. The powder blues are OK, but I like the gray unis, the solid blue cap, and the solid blue helmet.
  23. I don't like that they are blacking out the spring training game against the Padres that is supposed to be on right now. Blacking out an exhibition game? Other than that, I think it's great.
  24. That was great. A little homage to The Usual Suspects, perhaps? Oscar's best line, though, was, "I think it's 75 cents" as Creed stuck quarters into the copier.
