  1. Um, David Hamilton isn't a viable hitter either. Neither is Cooper Pratt. Seems the Crew is rife with light-hitting SS's. Maybe therefore we stick with the best -fielding of the bunch - Joey - being that it is a position where fielding trumps hitting. now 3rd base is a different matter altogether. That's where we really have a problem.
  2. Or, alternatively, the Occam's Razor take might be that he's just not a good hitter.
  3. Can he play third base? Also, just give the job to Quero, he has nothing left to prove in AAA.
  4. Keep him. Take as many bites at the apple as you can. You never know who is going you pan out, regardless of how good or how bad they played last year. Heck, even Turang could take a step back next season, especially if he falls in love with the longball. Baseball is weird that way. Unless your Wade Boggs.
  5. Poor Isaac. After he came back from that paternity leave he wasn't the same player. Maybe the distractions of fatherhood affected him. Maybe by next season he'll be more situated in his family life and will get back to being what he was before September. That said, I thought this article was a little harsh. Lies, damn lies, and statistics as Samuel Clemons said. Collins was clutch. I have yet to see a stat for that.
  6. Freddy Zamora had a good season in Nashville, and the SS could benefit from what is possibly a "curtesy exposure" to give him a clearer chance somewhere else to get a shot at the majors. Matt Wood jumps out to me as a possible loss; a catcher who can hit is always coveted.
  7. The solution is simple, but requires bravery on the part of Pat Murphy; flip-flop Abner and Trevor. MAKE ABNER THE CLOSER. Abner's stuff is much more electric, much more difficult to hit. There is too much riding on this season to value loyalty over prudence.
  8. Their approach with Quero is what I don't understand. At the trade deadline, I think it would've made more sense to bring him up than pay for a utility catcher (Jansen). And even in this article you downplay Quero by saying they "may go with" him next year. i don't get it. He's a top 5 prospect who has proven he has overcome his injury. He's a defensive catcher who can hit. what am I missing here?
  9. Thank Quintana for being an insurance policy, give him a golden watch, and send him packing. See what Cortes has to offer, but if he comes up craps, send him packing, too. Then go with the the young guns.
  10. I wish there was some tape of Gorman playing short!
  11. Hey, and as for the late rounds where we likely drafted unsignable players, John Mellencamp once sang "I saw you first, don't that give me the right to move around your heart?" never a bad idea to be able to say "we liked you back when"
  12. Thanks for everything, Jake! You made this a great experience.
  13. Rylan Mills ... something ...high school lol
  14. Luke Roupe high school pitcher
  15. Community college catcher Brendan Brock
  16. CJ Hughes high school short stop
  17. What's the deal with Jack Bauer? Is he unsignable? Team's afraid of the velo spike? We need our requisite mississippi state pitcher. He would fit the bill nicely.
  18. Hey all you baseball nerds out there, who are the difficult to sign high schoolers that are still available? Seems like we got some extra money to spend.
