  1. Could we ameliorate some of the infield depth by moving some guys to the outfield on trial bases?
  2. The more I see of Murph, the more I see him as an extremely tough, demanding dude to play for. Ortiz is finally hitting, then this. Tobias Meyers, a steady, good pitcher all last year, gets a short leash (coming off an injury, to boot), Priester has the riot act read to him about his "unacceptable" pitching, Henderson doesn't throw enough different pitches - just gets guys out - sent to the minors, Yoho faltered, sure, but no leash. But hey, the Brewers keep winning, so if he is that way, it must be working, right? And these are highly paid professionals held to the highest standard...I get all that. But eventually such tactics can become unproductive.
  3. Obviously it's easier said than done, but if Trevor could add a third pitch - preferably a slider or cut fastball, maybe change-up - he'd be unhittable. That might ultimately be the adaptation he'll need to stay dominant.
  4. Brewers don't seem to like Yoho as much as I do. If that's the case, give him a chance elsewhere, and do it now while he's unhittable in Triple A for max value.
  5. It's been fun so far, but let's face it, teams will run the data and figure out how to hit him more effectively eventually. And it won't take long. He'll need to mix in more tertiary and quaternary pitches (change-up & curve) to stay ahead of the game.
  6. None of those options, thanks. What we need isn't available. We need a corner infielder who hits for average and some power but doesn't strike out, preferably bats right-handed. Stand pat I say.
  7. Buy low, sell high. And trade from a position of strength. We have so many good young arms that are cheap, I would trade Freddy Noe while he's at his peak value.
  8. I definitely see a future for him on this team. When Willy leaves and Joey moves to short, they should try him at third to see if the glove will play. If not, first base and DH rotation with Rhys. Looking at his body and swing I think the power will come. I am surprised they haven’t seen if he could shift to the outfield.
  9. Nope. Bad decision. And not just because of how it turned out.
  10. Wouldn’t it make sense to finally call up Brewer Hicklen? He was added to the 40-man recently, and is a power bat who plays the outfield. Because, you’re right, the issue is replacing Christian’s production at the plate. There’s nobody currently on our bench who can come close to replicating his numbers. While Hicklen is certainly unproven, now is the time to see how his 0.950 OPS in Triple A translates to the Big Leagues.
  11. You might be right about September. But another possibility once Joey Ortiz gets healthy is DFAing Vinny Capra. He’d likely clear waivers and be back on the Sounds roster. I know it works make the 40-man a little light on infielders, but that imbalance might be worth it to get a chance at seeing if Hicklen right-hand power bat could translate to the bigs.
  12. Okay, maybe not a popular take, but I’d happily swap Hicklen in for Frelick. Sal’s sample size is small, but so is his bat. Perkins and Monasterio (I realize some shuffling would be required with Mona) would also be bats I’d like to see us try to upgrade by giving Hicklen a shot.
  13. Ya, I’ll concede it’s not an easy move to make, but we need a right handed power bat that can hit for a decent average. I’d almost be willing to give him Frelick or Mitchell’s spot on a short term trail, like if we face a couple southpaws in a row. For me it’s less about how deserving Hicklen is or how much I like him and more about what he could bring to the roster especially given our struggles against lefties.. I was just reading the article suggesting his being called up. I thought i was reading it wrong or it was a misprint, because it’s unusual to see that righty on lefty. That muddies the waters a bit. Hopefully not a show stopper though, because I’d LOVE to see Brewer as a Brewer! And regardless of splits, his OPS is undeniable.

  15. Why not add Brewer Hicklen and his .964 OPS to the 40-man?? A right-handed power bat could help balance our left-handed heavy outfield, and help with the ongoing struggle against left handed pitching. Seems like a no-brainier. What gives??
  16. Why has Brewer Hicklen been out of the lineup in Nashville the last few games? Also, why don’t the Brewers add him to the 40-man roster and give him a shot. His right-handed power could be helpful.
  17. Ya, i don't see Pratt signing, but you never know, right? Maybe just trying to save money to use elsewhere by drafting a guy who won’t sign? Or is that a bad strategy? Seems like it happens, tho.
  18. I m doubling up on the third basemen, especially if one ends up at first base.
