  1. If we could add Penny for a combination of Jenks + Jackson (plus a low level prospect) or Jenks + Vargas (plus a low level prospect) I would be insanely happy. Jenkins (while not a top slugging left hander) is far better than Kemp. This deal makes too much sense. Not to mention, neither team would be adding significant payroll, which is nice as well. Get it done Doug! Rotation: (would be the best in the division) Sheets Capuano Penny Bush Villanueva
  2. You are twisting people's words. Most see him as an above average player. But most don't think he'll continue to be one for much longer, or at least in a way where he'd be useful to a NL team.
  3. Adding CoCo Crisp in a trade would cost half of what Pierre or Roberts would make, and he brings better all around numbers too. And we wouldn't have to have him signed when he's filing for social security. I still think Crisp should be the guy we go after this offseason.
  4. Gotta bring this thread back up. With Drew sounding like he will sign with the Bo-Sox, that will leave them with too many OF. I'm guessing that Crisp's trade value has to be at an all time low. I would really like his .800 OPS, 20 steals, and 15 HR in our leadoff spot. He would be just the type of player to help fill out our roster.
  5. The MLB page seems to indicate that Nomar will probably be resigning with LA. So, I'm not so sure the Brewers will be in the running for him, but you never know.
  6. Ok, I'm not generally in favor of signing players who are about to file for social security. But looking at Alou's stats, I was thinking that he could be the best OF option on the market, and due to his age and injury issues last season he might come relatively cheap. His OPS has been over 900 the last three seasons and even with little decline in production he should be able to dwarf what we would get out of Mench/Jenkins. While he may no longer be able to play full time, Gross could spell him twice a week vs right handed pitchers (since Gross has proven that he can crush right handed pitching). Also Alou could be a great DH whenever we play any AL teams. So what would you guys think about us signing him to a one year 9 million dollar contract? Lineup: 1. Hart 2. Weeks 3. Alou 4. Fielder 5. Hall 6. Koskie 7. Hardy 8. Miller
  7. Why do we want Jennings? He is the right handed version of Doug Davis. He walks a ton of hitters. Also his ERA has been over 5.00 two of the last three years, and his periphials from this last year suggest that his ERA should have been in the mid 4s. He isn't a front end of the rotation starter, just a backend of the rotation guy who had a career (humador assisted) year. He certainly isn't worth giving up an Inman for. Now if they want to do a Clark + Gwynn for Jennings swap, I'd go with that. But I personally think we are way overvaluing Jennings.
  8. He wouldn't be a bad guy to have in the pen and as a 6th starter. If we can swap him for Jenkins, I'd be completely satisfied with that.
  9. You're right, so I replaced him with Jamie Walker who, while old, has been a very solid set up guy for the Tigers.
  10. Moves: Trade Jenkins for Lopez Trade Davis (plus midlevel prospect if necessary) for CoCo Crisp Trade Turnbow, Koskie, Clark (and a prospect if necessary) for Morgan Ensberg Trade Mench for AA prospect Sign Jamie Walker 3 years @ 4 million per Sign V. Padilla or Lilly 3 years @ 8.5 million per Sign J. Cruz Jr. 2 years @ 1.5 million per Sign T. Graffainno 2 years @ 2.5 million per Lineup: CF: Crisp $3.5 million 2nd: Weeks 500 K 3rd: Ensberg $5 M 1st: Fielder $380 K LF: Hall $3.5 M RF: Hart $382 SS: Hardy $380 C: Miller $2.25 M Bench: Ut: Cirillo $1 M LH OF: Gross $380 K RH OF: Cruz Jr $1.5 M Ut: Graffainno $2.5 M C: Rivera $380 K Rotation: Sheets $10 M Capuano $3 M Padilla or Lilly $8.5 M Bush $388 K Villenueva $380 K Bullpen: CL: Cordero $5.5 M SU: Capellan $383 K SU: Walker $4 M MR: Wise $1 M MR: Sarfate $380 Loogy: Shouse $1.1 M Long Relief/6th Starter Lopez $3.5 M (Career ERA under 3 as a reliever in 60 innings+, could possible move to SU role) Total $60.11 M Payroll (+/- a couple million dollars depending on arbitration/free agent numbers) Make it happen Doug!!! The depth on this team would be excellent. We could survive an injury at any position and not lose too much in production. (With the possible exception of 1st base) If an injury happened: At 3B: We have Cirillo and Braun At SS or 2nd: Graffaino and Perez (if he shows he can handle a bat) At C: Closser (sp?) At Pitcher: Lopez, Eveland, Jackson, Gallardo OF: If anyone went down, a platoon of Gross and Cruz would provide solid numbers, Gwynn
  11. The main difference between Crisp and Pierre is that Crisp actually has some power. I think a Crisp for Davis swap would be quite fair. Crisp has the benefit of being young and entering his prime. He is a far more complete player than Pierre. He's no Crawford, but he's no Pierre/Roberts either. OPS wise, Crisp has far more potential than Pierre does. Also perhaps he's become a smarter baserunner, thus the better SB% (so judging him on his numbers from early in his career might not be fair).
  12. I have heard a lot on this site about bringing in a Juan Pierre or Dave Roberts. Yet, Dave Roberts is older and not likely to improve, and Pierre couldn't slug his way off of a postage stamp. Now I may recieve a lot of disapproval for even suggesting this, but what about CoCo Crisp in a trade. Trading for Crisp would be the definition of buying low, as he spent much of last season injured and his numbers reflect it. Yet, in Crisp you get a guy who in two out of the last three years has had a OPS right around the .800 (this year it was just over .700), and two out of the last three years he's had homerun totals in the mid-teens. Not to mention that last season he stole 22 bases while only getting caught 4 times. After his poor season, the Sox may be willing to give him up for next to nothing, possibly even paying part of his 15 million salary due to him over the next three years.
  13. If the poster was Rhuz, or Dhonks or someone who had been on this site for a good period of time, I probably wouldn't have done anything. But the original poster was relatively new to the board, and I thought it would be best to stick up for him since he brought a fresh approach to the idea of Man-Ram coming to the Brewers (as he lives in the Boston area) Did you even take the time to notice that? 600 posts don't exempt you from trollish behavior. You like to stir up trouble. You've done it before with the whole Stubkins ordeal, and you are doing it again here. But don't you worry, from this point forward I will "police" none of your posts. I'll just ignore them altogether.
  14. I am no moderator, but I see no problem with standing up for a poster who is being bullied. Stop trying to justify yourself, you are only making yourself, you are only making yourself appear more trollish and childish. This has nothing to do with Jenkins or twenty years of losing, it has everything with treating others with respect. How would you like it if you started a thread only to have a person come in and, in essence, call it "stupid". Because that is basically what you did in this thread.
  15. While I agree that Manny is unlikely to come to Milwaukee, disrespecting other posters with your, "I know more than you guys" attitude is not necessary. If some people would like to discuss Man-Ram, more power to them. Almost all trade possibilities raised on this thread don't happen. If someone can make a reasonable trade offer for a Man Ram, Arod, whoever. More power to them. Your post added nothing to this discussion. Period. Now back to the actual thread. Adding Man-Ram would be huge for our offense, I just don't know if adding him would make up for all that we would lose in a trade.

  17. Offense MIA after Bush blows the game (and Ned as well for not pulling him until AFTER he gave up the lead, seriously we have 2 long relievers in the pen, they aren't there to look pretty.)
  18. What could be the reason for their poor play away from MP? Who can be blamed for that because its 100% unacceptable and can't continue. If Ned insists on having 13 pitchers on the roster, including two long relievers, the least he could do is use them when the time calls for it, and yes, it calls for it.
  19. Its just unbelievable how snake bit our team is on the road. This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not one for getting on Yost's case, but its time to get your team motivated for these games.
  20. Doesn't Jeter have the range of a barstool? Supposedly he has one of the worst ranges at his position. He makes a lot of highlight plays because he struggles to get to the normal plays. He has to be the most overrated gold glover ever.
  21. He's on there because some people, including myself, are looking at his pitching stats from the last 3 years and not just this year. He's definitily in danger of lossing his job if he can't step it up, but he does have some value as a #4 or 5 starter, especially if we can't resign Ohka.
  22. Interesting move, bringing in Cordero with two outs in the 8th right after Capellan gets out two hitters.
  23. Bill was right about Turnbow and the towel that it is related to mechanics, but his specifics were a bit off. What Turnbow was doing was a specific drill aimed at bringing your release point closer to home plate. It was developed by Leo Mazzone and his pitching coaches to make pitchers seem deceptively fast (aka with a release point closer to the plate, the ball will get on the hitter faster). Its a drill I incorported into my routine as a pitcher in college, it really helps a ton. I can't imagine how fast Turnbow's pitches look with a close release point.
  24. Gillespie not in the lineup tonight for Helena. Is he finally getting promoted?
