Well done article. There were short periods of time in seasons when Hoffman, Axford, Hader and Williams were automatic holds but they were short-lived. No matter who the closer is, I never feel comfortable going into the 9th with a one run lead.
Agreed, he’s not the same guy he was before going on the bereavement list. There’s been no word on what happened and it’s none of my business but he probably should have taken a few more days off.
Overall, this is great news. I was very worried it was going to be a tear. However, it might be best to put him on the IL to save Sal from himself. He doesn’t know how to play any way but at full-speed. Great news though!
The Cubs are champing at the bit to knock Misiorowski off the pedestal he’s been placed on since Thursday’s start. We can expect a much different approach at the plate than the Cards gave him. Although unlikely, I really hope our offense can give him some early run support so he doesn’t think the world is resting on his shoulders.
