  1. Geno, I'll be praying for a flawless surgery and a speedy recovery.
  2. I don't think many people were around back in '04 when the elections were happening, which caused the rift. Never has discussing politics or religion/faith here resulted in anything positive. Someone always gets offended, insults fly, and it leaks into other threads. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. I wish it wasn't, but my policy is to head it off at the pass so I don't have to deal with an uglier mess later.
  3. He finally showed up on my approval list today. I've approved him, and he should be able to post now.
  4. [zelda warioware excite truck need for speed carbon elebits trauma center I would keep zelda and warioware (for the multi-player fun), and return the rest. Elebits & Trauma Center are great rentals, NFS Carbon stinks from what I've heard.... I haven't played Excite Truck, because I'm not really into racing games.
  5. 01/18/07 - 4:06 PM - Board import request sent from Yuku sales rep to migration staff. board import request Board import request from Brian the Automator forum.brewerfan.net discounted gold for migration to Yuku $983 for 12 months 1 custom skin, they would prefer it to look as much like the existing ezboard as possible. If there is anything else you need help with, please let me know. sincerely, Jennifer ezboard Customer Service Manager 01/18/07 - 5:21 PM - Received acknowledgment from Yuku migration staff board import request Hi Brian, I'll be co-ordinating your migration with our programmers and skin creation with our designers. Once I've gone over your board requirements with the group we can begin creating your skin in preparation for the migration, and I'll update you on when the actual migration will happen. When the board is migrated we'll get you to look over the forums and check that all looks fine, and as soon as you're happy we'll redirect your ezboard. The shorter time span between those two events, the less chance of posts being made at the ezboard after migration - ie, they won't be on the yuku board. You could temporarily close your board to posting if this was a major issue, or we could redirect the board automatically rather than you checking it first. This is up to you. You don't have to do anything at this point in time, although I will probably set up a test forum for your skin to be created in, so that you can see how that looks before the migration too. cheers, alison
  6. I'll send you a private message about it tonight...
  7. [ I know you suspended things, Brian, but do we still need money for anything that I can contribute to? I can't send via paypal until I get home from work, but still, I'd like to. ] Buy a t-shirt or two... Get yourself some fancy duds while helping to pay for the store and get us some free advertising!
  8. I am suspending incoming payments to the community chest as of now. Thank you again everyone!
  9. Absolutely amazing. You guys are unreal. I've sent the message off to ezBoard, and we should be good for another year shortly. I'll post a message when I hear more about the conversion.
  10. [ Mine was 10/6/06, just wanted to make sure you got it. ] Yup, I got it, and it's very much appreciated.
  11. [ Did we not raise very much money then, or was it for something else entirely? ] That was for: - "main site" costs ($50 per month) - Fanfest 2006 losses - Cafepress.com store costs ($7 per month, of which $1 per item sold in the store is recuperated, but that falls short).
  12. [ Just so I am clear, it was posted awhile back that we should not sign up for EZ Supporter because the thought was that the forum would be moving. Now we are sticking with the current setup correct? I would have signed up for EZ Supporter back then but held off. So now you are saying that it would be great if everyone signed up for EZ Supporter? I will be happy to sign up but I just want to make doubl-y sure that is what you want those of us who haven't done so to do. ] At this point, it's much more worthwhile to donate to the community chest than to sign up for ezSupporter. As I understand it, Yuku doesn't currently have an ezSupporter system, so that benefit doesn't translate over there.
  13. [ Why aren't you just going to a free phpbb and spending $9.99 a month for an unlimited server? $947.00 seems like a lot for a very limited BB, IMO. ] There's two primary reasons: 1) I don't believe there's a migration path from ezBoard to phpBB. We have a lot of history of posts and user accounts, and I want to do everything in my power to keep people from re-signing up. 2) The $9.99 per month deals are lousy when it comes to the amount of traffic we have here at Brewerfan. We're averaging 1.3 GB of transfer per day from the message boards alone... and that's at a time right now when there's not even any baseball being played. Some hosts offer gaudy transfer totals per month that seem terrific, but the reality is that they choke performance wise when it comes to that amount of traffic. EzBoard has, a large majority of the time, given us great scalability, and the last thing I want to do is experiment with other hosts with the bread & butter of our site.
  14. Our current term with ezBoard (our message board provider) is set to expire on February 13th. There had been an a tentative plan on my part to write my own message board software from scratch, and then move the message boards to a dedicated server. Unfortunately, due to a lack of time on my part, I had not been able to achieve this. The positive news is that we have been given the opportunity by ezBoard to upgrade to their new software, Yuku, for a reduced price. The idea is that if we renew our message board at a 6-month price, we would get a year's worth of service. I've decided to take them up on their offer. Initially, I hadn't liked Yuku much at all. I tried a beta of it, and while it had a lot of nice features, I thought it was too buggy to go to at the time. I'm still not 100% satisfied with it, but the reality is that ezBoard is no longer being supported with new features, and I'd rather not be left holding the bag when it finally gets killed off. The financial bottom line is that we need to raise $947, of which we already have $287 in our community chest (which is now visible at the top of the forum). Many of you are already signed up as ezSupporters ($12 per year), and that has helped defray the cost greatly. However, there is a large community of lurkers out there whose visits count add to our service charges, and because they don't have accounts, aren't signed up as ezSupporters. A little info on Yuku before you donate. Your ezBoard account is transferrable, and all our forums and posts will be migrated over to the new site, so there won't be any interruption in service (or a very minimal one). There are many exciting new features such as RSS feeds, and the interface follows a "web 2.0" paradigm, with many dynamic features that should make browsing the forums more intuitive (not to mention a search function that actually works). So, if you get a fair amount of enjoyment from our forums, please donate to the community chest, and keep Brewerfan rolling. If you have any questions at all, please post them in this thread. I know Casey has already done a fair amount of research into the nuts & bolts of Yuku, so between us we should be able to answer any questions and concerns you may have. Thanks! Brian Kapellusch
  15. Nice interview, although his "and that" is "I mean". All reports on Gallardo I've heard is that he's a real nice kid, and it shows in the interview.
  16. [ What version of bomberman? ] I think the only one that's been released so far has been bomberman '93 for the TurboGrafx 16.
  17. [ Hell, I like your style, but when you go all caps lock on our asses, you'll catch crap....just sayin'. ] http://www.jinx.com/images/products/882bgBlack.jpg
  18. [ But just out of curiousity when was the last time a top pitching prospect of ours had a major arm surgery like this and then pitched effictively for "THE BREWERS" after recovery? ] Capuano's a former Tommy John victim... I know he wasn't "our" prospect, but there's life after the knife, for sure.
  19. I was absolutely amazed as well that not even the slightest mention of the no-hitter was made until Yount made the catch. Also, I never knew Nieves threw that good of a breaking ball... too bad injuries had to claim his baseball career.
  20. Welcome aboard, Joe. It looks like a couple of our regulars are dropping out this season, and with people's schedules in the summer, we can always use more guys. I'll have Patrick throw together the numbers/names for the shirts when practices get closer so that we can just do them all at once.
  21. They're in the Brewerfan Store: www.cafepress.com/bfdotnet/584161
  22. [ Has anyone played much of Elebits, Excite Truck, or Rayman yet, or planning to get Warioware right away this week? I want to wait a while before buying more games but it'll be a while before anything gets to $30 or below I guess. ] I rented Elebits. I'd say it's definately worth a rental. It's a very cool use of the Wiimote, but I think that I would get sick of it if I owned it.
  23. [ Termel Sledge as the left fielder in San Diego? The Padres have got to be kidding. ] They signed Jose Cruz Jr to compete with him for a job... I would imagine that Cruz would get the nod.
  24. I don't think Littlefield should be signing up for the World Poker Tour anytime soon.
