[ ...so why do so many people put FA discussion there? I realize this is just a pet peeve of mine, and no one else seems to care. ] I'm considering just making it rumors/proposals, because i think "possible FA acquisition" discussion should still fall into that form. The MLB forum shouldn't be for discussing transaction hypotheticals. -
We're about 90 days out from our renewal date, so in 60 days you'll see the community chest pop back open. If you're a regular lurker, i'd also encourage you to sign up for an account and pay the $12, as your totals count against our price as well. Our current renewal prices is $758 for 6 months. That means a year's renewal will probably be around $1100 I think. If you haven't registered as an ezSupporter yet and you're a very regular reader, your money is far better spent on registering than paying a donation when that time comes up...

If he admitted to cheating (taking steroids), I wouldn't let him in the HOF. However, he hasn't, so in he goes in my opinion.

Mark McGwire was my favorite player from 1987 until he was traded to the Cardinals. After that, I really couldn't stand him. While I and many other people suspect he was juicing, there's no conclusive proof that he used steroids. So, in my opinion, he belongs in the HOF... I see where everyone else is coming from, but I agree with rluz when he says innocent until proven guilty... Otherwise, you open up a big can of worms... Luckily, going forward, this won't be an issue.

You are correct. We figured it wasn't time to cry any more after the Brewers broke their string of losing seasons. -
The answer to a kid hitting the wall if he did so because of conditioning certainly isn't _more pitching_. If Dana got tired because of conditioning, that's what he needs to work on in the offseason, not throwing more baseballs.

You want them to crank Ty Taubenheim back up and send him down there? ] The point I was making that you can only have one guy who wasn't at least in AA on 8/1 in the AFL. I wasn't at all saying Hammond wouldn't have been a good choice, but he's not a legitimate choice by the rules the AFL has set out. Now, if they are willing to make excpetions to the rules, i'm not privy to that information... but with the info I have available, that's why I said it. And, since it was reported that he was bounced for that reason, I would say it was at the time an accurate assessment. If the Brewers yank Escobar out and insert Hammond, that might be legal as well... but they didn't at the time.

[ As far as Hammond, I'm sure the team wanted to do this as he, by their accounts, didn't pitch much in his college season and had innings to burn. ] In that case, the club should have known the rules about how many players from A-ball you could said.

AFL denies request to add Hammond mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ne...ed=rss_mil Apparently, because Alcides Escobar is on the roster, AFL officials aren't letting Hammond in per the "only one from A-ball" rule.

[ Did anyone else not know Boras was Prince's agent? I remember Cecil represented him at first, and was fired for allegedly stealing some of Prince's cash, but I don't remember hearing about him hiring the evil one. ] It was a recent switch... maybe a couple of weeks ago or so.

[ Howard dominated AAA for the Phillies last year and had a solid Fall League, but the Phillies didn't trade Thome to make room for him. I understand it's different, as Thome is vastly superior to Overbay, but it goes to show that Overbay doesn't have to be traded ] It also made Howard uber-angry, if you remember the media reports at the time.

I will celebrate today's game by taking a luke-warm shower and eating some vanilla ice cream. But really, I had the team pegged to finish a few games below .500, so they've definately exceeded my expectations. 2006 will be exciting.

I predict a 5-2 Brewers victory. Chad Moeller will surprise us today with clutch hitting. Go get 'em.
