  1. [ Not my fault some people are chinmusic. At least some people could take the joke. ] Got any good polish jokes? mexican jokes? black jokes? jew jokes? Those guys are all JERKS, because they're not like me.
  2. This thread was locked because of its prejudice content. At the very minimum, it was generalizing the French people as "dirty". The politicizing of the content of that thread only made it worse, hence it was locked.
  3. Can you give me a recent example?
  4. I'll see if I can come up with something this weekend...
  5. [ I'm sure there will be a year where you will have to win 93 games and likely a year when you will have to win 85. That would average to what, I don't have a calculator, 89? ] Only if your sample size is 2.
  6. Apparently, the alliance has been defeated.

  8. [ I like to go by what I see and not by what meaningless stats tell me. To say that JJ is hitting well is a joke. Hall at least gives us a chance to break the game open with the pop in his bat. Hardy is only defense. ] Hall has 2 homers post-ASB, a .643 OPS post-ASB, and a .534 OPS over the past 7 days.
  9. [ Yay, lefty Magruder against Clemens. At least a 3-hit day for sure. ] Take note, those who would call me an apologist: This move is BAD. Of course, this is the time Magruder has a monster day and finds a way to linger on the roster longer.
  10. [ Edit: Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-Select-Start That would be Contra for NES. 30 lives. Word. ] That's only for 2 player mode. It's Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-B-A-Start if you're flying solo.
  11. From OurSportsCentral: CHARLESTON, WV (August 17, 2005) - The West Virginia Power, class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers have made yet another roster move. Today, right-handed pitcher Eric Thomas was sent to High A Brevard County and right-handed pitcher Dane Renkert was added to the roster from Helena to take his place. Eric Thomas, a third round pick in 2003 went 0-1 with a save and a 3.44 ERA with the Power this season. Dane Renkert was picked in the 29th round of the 2005 draft from Washington State University. He went 2-1 with a save and a 2.81 ERA over 14 games with Helena. The Power will continue the series with the Lakewood BlueClaws on Wednesday night at Appalachian Power Park. The Power will throw left-handed pitcher Derek Miller (1-0, 0.73) and Lakewood will counter with left-handed pitcher Derek Griffith (7-10, 3.74). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. For more information contact the Power Front Offices at (304) 344-2287 or visit the Power website at www.wvpower.com.
  12. It's in the FAQ: p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...=576.topic
  13. If there are any lurkers or members out there that have access to a copy of the infamous binder called "The Official Professional Baseball Rules Book", Brewerfan.net would be extremely grateful if it could learn how to obtain a copy.
  14. [ This statement is 100% true. ] The problem here is that we're trying to define something as a fact when it's purely an opinion. Technically, the Brewers are in the wildcard race until they are mathematically eliminated. In reality, though, we know this isn't the case. While I'm all for good conversation, this one just seems like people are spinning their wheels.
  15. [ When he puts himself in scoring position. When he gets the runner on first to second with less than 2 outs. When he hustles and stretches a single into a double. When he advances an extra base on a bobbled ball in the OF. When he takes an extra base when a fielder is non-chalant with the ball and doesn't pay attention to the runner. When he does the hidden ball trick and it works. (Had to give Lowell his props, it was genius) When he dives for a fly ball instead of letting it drop in front of him without an attempt. When he backs up the center fielder on a gapper he's diving after. When he calls off players on a pop up to avoid a collision. When he beats out a throw to first that he wouldn't have if he didn't sprint his all. When he sprints around the bases when he hits a fly ball and no one is on or when there is 2 outs. When he sprints to first on a PB ball 4. When he hustles to the ball in the OF and get's it in so the runner can't advance. When he sacrifices his body and knocks the ball down and keeps it in the infield on a hard hit infield grounder. ] All of these things are great, but they don't hold a candle to talent. What do they get you, 2 wins a year? I'm with most everyone else here. "Heart" exists, and some players have it. However, I think talent is FAR more important. Obviously, there are people who are clubhouse cancers, but i'll take an Edgar Renteria (who I would consider having "neutral heart") to a David Eckstein (who many consider having "maximum heart") hands down.
  16. [ Obviosly talent will show up in the stat books and is a factor but without heart where does talent get you. For every Bonds and Sheffield in the hall there will be a Jeter and Schilling. ] Well, that sounds like a 1:1 talent:heart ratio to me.
  17. That's all well and good, unless the person who's crying foul was actually the initial offender. If the initial person is condescending, then other people are condescending to that person as a result, it's hard to fault the 2nd party. Of course, remedying that situation means that the first person must recognize when they were being condescending or baiting, and that's been some of the problems we've had in the past.
  18. bjames, your situation is unique for reasons we've discussed privately.
  19. [ I actually wanted to bring a sign to Miller Park when the Mets came to town. And sit behind the visiting dugout. I don't tink I'll be allowed to say what it would have said here on this sight though. Even though I think people would've found more humorous than offensive IMO. ] I'm sorry, but prejudice is never funny.
  20. [ Well, I'm glad I missed this one. Bet there were a ton of folks making their way out of MP cursing how they paid good money to see that Rooter guy. ] You do know that this is bordering on obsession, right? Don't be that guy.
  21. [ Brian, if you decide to do this and need a hand, let me know. (And especially if you do it in Java, I could use some J2EE experience.) ] It's quite possible... I very much appreciate the offer!
  22. [ Since it can't be proved it does, it doesn't...I guess ] At the very least, they could receive a "AAA world series champions" polo shirt. That's gotta count for something.
