  1. Milton's middle name should be officially "we told you so". I couldn't think of a more obious HACKING MASS candidate before the year started... and at a crazy-high salary, no less.
  2. Not in here, mister. This is a Mercedes.
  3. [ Jim Powell just said it's a save opportunity now. Is it b/c of runners on? ] When the tying run is on deck, it's a save situation.
  4. Julio could change his life To better suit my mood Because he's so smooth
  5. If you didn't feel it was necessary to play the "get the last word in" game, there wouldn't be a problem. I've made my position clear on your Russell Branyan grudge before. It's obvious you don't respect it, or we wouldn't be having this discussion again. Unfortunately, I have to make rules which I feel best benefit the site, even if a few individuals feel like they're getting the short end of the stick. My best advice to you is to let it go. You don't accomplish anything by making yourself look even more spiteful and foolish. If you can't let it go, there will be more post deletions and thread lockings, as this isn't some stupid turf war.
  6. [ The big question is, did they learn to win for next year? ] I don't buy into the "learning to win" thing. However, I think they figured how not to give up.
  7. [ I know we can discuss the game, but I wonder if a true play-by-play is a violation of some sort. ] We have implied oral consent.
  8. markwitx: no pure play by play please. ralph: he made mistakes, he apologized, everyone deserves another chance. Heck I distinctly remember him ripping on me, but it was a long time ago. brewcityunit: we can moderate. brady clark: thank you.
  9. I think he's attoned for the fox stuff, ralph.
  10. [ Yeah he's decent...but does he deserve to start ahead of Hall? ] I think they should fight to the death.
  11. [ But the whole point is everytime he K's, I want to post something ] You've got to be kidding me. You want to post something every time Russell K's? To prove what point, that he K's alot? We know that. You really need to let it go.
  12. [ I just didn't want Russ to get away with it, thats all. ] However, this is the attitude I wish you'd avoid. Throwing "K K K" on the end of a post because Russ posted "HR HR HR" is not helping anyone. If people could just let stuff go, we wouldn't have these types of issues.
  13. Did I single you out? Russ's HR post borderlined on baiting, and you didn't want to let it go by without putting your stamp on it, so I decided to lock the thread. It was definately far from a productive conversation, so the thread was locked.
  14. [ He can't even get the ball to 1st from 2b, what will 3b look like? ] http://www.islandsstainedglass.com/run%20sideways%20large.JPG
  15. [ Move Weeks to 3B where he'll do less damage and actually has the potential, both offensively and defensively, to be very good. ] See, I actually think Weeks might be _worse_ at 3B, as to me it looks like his instincts are his problem... You need a much quicker reaction time at 3B, and I think Hall excels there (plus his arm is very strong). I'd like to see Hall (and some Branyan) at 3B, sticking with Weeks at 2B, and move Weeks to CF if Clark becomes expensive or bad, and shift Hall to 2B when Braun comes up (or deal Hall if he becomes expensive or bad). Or, I could be wrong about Rickie's instincts and it might just be a footwork issue... can anyone else chime in with an opinion?
  16. [ Over the course of 400 at bats, that's 61 more K's for Russ. That's pretty significant. ] I guess that comes down to on what side of the religious debate you find yourself on regarding exactly how much of a detriment K's are. So, we'll leave it at that as I understand your position. [ But, the main point is that it would be a huge disappointment (for me) to watch Russ play the bulk of the time vs righties, when Billy Hall has clearly earned the 3rd base job (barring a FA move, which is probably unlikely). Hall's biggest value is as a utility man, so certainly he should split some time with Branyan at 3rd and pick up games at SS and 2B. But if Branyan gets more starts at 3rd than Hall, that's a shame IMO. Hardy and Weeks probably won't sit more than 10-15 games if healthy, so there aren't many extra games for Hall to pick up at other positions. ] Also, I guess we differ on if Hall has earned the starting 3B job. If I didn't think there was such a strong platoon candidate, I would certainly agree with you... but I don't mind at all if Hall gets starts vs. righties at 3B if Russell's health isn't 100% or if he's on a cold streak.
  17. [ But, every time he has a hang nail, he can't play. ] Don't you think that's a bit of an exaggeration? He messed up his shoulder. For the sake of this argument, his K rate against lefties is irrelevant, given the fact that I made no allusions to him starting against a single lefty (or even getting a single at-bat against a lefty). And Bill Hall has struck out in 21.2% of his at-bats this year... I don't think the difference between the two (36.3%-21.2%) warrants as much grief as Branyan gets.
  18. [ Brian think Russell will be the other half of the 3rd base Platoon? ] I don't see why not, assuming his back is OK... Even if it's not a straight platoon, Russell can play 4 positions reasonably well and can pinch-hit against righties if need be.
  19. [ But Geez does Hall get a shot at the 3rd Base Spot Full time in 2006 ] Well, at the minimum, I think he's handed the right-half of the platoon (where he has a .929 OPS)... Here's my breakdown for 2006: Hall gets 100% of starts against lefties at 3B... Hall gets intermittant starts at SS and 2B to spell Hardy & Weeks when facing righties... I like Billy a lot, in the way he doesn't seem to mind shifting around the diamond (at least his stats say he doesn't mind). So while I think Billy would be better than most 3B's on the market this offseason, I still don't think there's anything wrong with utilizing Branyan's strength (assuming he's healthy) vs. RHP, and Hall's strength (his flexibility).

  21. Honestly, i'm surprised he made the trade deadline. Not a bad pitcher in a park that can hold his flyballs, so hopefully he can maybe be a throw-in with Overbay... too valuable to non-tender, I guess.
  22. Jason Conti just finished up a complete year at AAA Oklahoma, posting a .746 OPS.
  23. www.brewerfan.net/ViewArt...icleId=217 splitterfj takes a look into Curt Flood's career and his hall of fame credentials. Discussion of the article is definately encouraged. Vote on the Home Page!
  24. [ I have been so underwhelmed by the evidence for why people defend Hardy as the starting SS over Hall, the question came to mind, and that is why I asked. ] If many people have given you evidence, and you say you've been underwhelmed by the evidence, then it's probably time to drop the subject, as we're well past the point of spinning our wheels. There's nothing anyone's going to do to change your mind, and vice versa. There's nothing I dislike much more than beating a dead horse, and the horse and the club are all lined up.
