  1. It's not just that he made a prediction that didn't come true... When you go out and say that "if the brewers do or don't do X, i'll do Y", we're going to hold people accountable for that, otherwise it gets annoying. With that said, in the moderator's absence who took him at his word, I've gone ahead and restored posting privileges.
  2. It's up to the mod that banned him.
  3. It's up to the mod that banned him.
  4. I echo the comments that he sounded Powell-esque. Seems like he'll be an adequate replacement. I like that he mentioned that he's going to try to stay as in-tune with the minors as JP was, which is one thing I really feared when Powell left.
  5. I got it covered... sorry for the brief ad issues.
  6. I'll still surely miss Powell, but Provus seems like a nice fit.
  7. Marte just cleared waivers.
  8. While Soup's starting the S/T opener, I think it was supposed to be lined up for Yo to go on opening day... At least that's what I heard on the radio.

  10. Thought this was a really good read... If he doesn't already have enough cool points for pulling a shard of broken bat out of his arm Chuck Norris style, the fact that he was willing to stand up against steroids in the 90's makes me an even bigger fan.
  11. I'd hate to have to sit and think of a list of favorite users, because there are really so many great ones here whose posts I love to read. I'm going to go with RobertR as a user that really stands out to me, though. He's been around since the beginning, he's always very level-headed, and he picks his spots really well. The couple of times I've met him in real life, he's been awesome as well.
  12. Wow, he looks really, really good. I just hope he's able to be disciplined about everything once the season starts and his wife isn't there to nag him.
  13. So far, I give him a "C+". It's really hard to give these kinds of grades though, because you don't know what kind of deals were out there to be made. The FA market was pretty weak at the positions where the Brewers had a need (SP and RP). So while it looks like on paper the team is at BEST treading water, I'm not sure if Doug deserves a bad or failing grade on the offseason.
  14. Agreed. I like the idea of having a sideline reporter to get post-game comments and perhaps pre-game comments, but leave the rest of the action alone please.
  15. Does Edmonds have typhoid or something?... I know that platoon OFers wouldn't necessarily have the highest market value this offseason, but a team needing another OFer would be ridiculous not to take advantage of these prices. I'd love for the Brewers to pick him up for insurance.
  16. He's only in DFA-land right now... I'd imagine the Indians would probably still get SOMETHING for him... If he were just a waiver-claim, I'd go for it... but the problem is that his lack of versatility makes him a lousy bench player.
  17. It should be obvious Given my lack of activity here at Brewerfan in the past couple of months that things have been pretty screwy in "real life" for me, but i'm really really going to try to make it there.
  18. Would you change your mind about the number if during that time he saves Game 7 of the World Series? If he saves Game 7 of the WS, I'll change my mind AND I'll buy you a case of beer.
  19. Solid signing. I just hope the Brewers don't retire his number if he plays here for two years.
  20. I would recommend going with a hosted solution like "PHP Nuke": http://www.maiahost.com/cms/PHP-Nuke_Hosting.html It requires no programming, and allows you to get a site up in a hurry where you can allow users to manage content (articles, images, etc). It won't allow you to create a COMPLETELY custom (from scratch) website, but it will more than likely be "good enough". If you don't have an HTML designer or programmer handy, I would not really recommend doing it yourself completely from scratch...
  21. Some people like to post "out of the box" ideas simply so that people read their stuff.
  22. The first thing you have to ask yourself, is does the website have to "do anything"? Is it just a bunch of static information that your mom/her staff doesn't have to update, or does it need to be backed by a database? When it comes to websites, there's a HUGE gap between what's easy to do and what's difficult.
