  1. I applied your Brewerfan moderator salary directly towards your mortgage.
  2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Westphall I was too young to remember St. Elsewhere, but I stumbled across this wikipedia article. The idea with the finale of St. Elsewhere is that the entire hospital was in the mind of an autistic boy, Tommy Westphall. Given the way TV shows crossover, logic dictates that all of these shows exist within the mind of Tommy Westphall. That means Good Times and The Flying Nun are connected. I thought *I* was a dork. I've got nothing on these guys.

  4. Yeah, I agree with many others here that he could be a decent value for the money. Plus the dude's got a monster chin.
  5. The Braves put in an inquiry into Doumit and McClouth, and apparently the asking price was sky high. I don't think it would be worth the Brewers' while. Neal Huntington doesn't seem to have a clue when it comes to buying low/selling high. He's been trying to trade Jack Wilson for like 2 years now, which obviously shows he doesn't know how to value players.
  6. To me, personally, if it was a thread where people truly just vented with things like "ARGHH!!!#~#~~#~" and "I WISH I WERE DEAD", I wouldn't have a problem with it. If it were just over-the-top garbage posts, it almost wouldn't be a big deal. Part of the problem was that a fair number of bitter arguments broke out in there, because people used it as sort of a "shelter" where they could post opinions with the knowledge that they wouldn't have to back anything up. It's sort of hard to explain, but does that make sense?
  7. I need to either: a) find a job within walking distance b) move to the equator Wisconsin just ate my one-stage rubber-blade snowblower alive. Looks like I have a nice day of back-breaking shoveling ahead of me.
  8. Brewerfanswhodontpostkneejerkreactionsbutwritewellthoughtoutposts.net didn't fit on a t-shirt.
  9. It doesn't seem like Cameron, Weeks, or Hall have enough value to get pitching. Hart, maybe.
  10. Let's be realistic, though... With raises in arbitration, how much more salary can the team add on? I'm assuming the club has enough funds available for one decent-but-not-great SP or CL addition, and then everything will have to come via the trade route (in which the dwindling pool of FA's has no bearing on).
  11. I also think that there's a misconception out there that if a player changes his approach and strikes out less, that his offensive output would improve greatly... which isn't how it works.
  12. Doug Melvin then de-friended him on myspace and then gave him back his class ring.
  13. Honestly, I think people are just getting edgy because no significant moves have been made yet.
  14. BAM!: http://laist.com/attachments/la_heath/bacon%20bar.jpg
  15. Nicole made me some chocolate-covered Neuske's bacon for work the other day. Yum.
  16. Got my snowblower gassed up, and a fresh big 25 pound bag of salt. I'm ready for this "Class 3 Kill-storm".
  17. Meh, seems as good as any NRI's we've seen over the years. As long as they're not signed to be starters, I'm cool with it. I'm actually pleasantly surprised Nixon signed as a NRI for the Brewers with LF and RF seemingly set.
  18. I would love... LOVE... for Mike Jones to wind up at Milwaukee at some point so that Tom would run into him in the clubhouse.
  19. Well, there is a reason his colleagues call him "the Prince of Darkness".
  20. Mussina retired, so they don't get a "slot" for him, I believe.
  21. I think, in this case, it's worth separating range from reliability. While Hardy's range is probably slightly below average, his reliability on the balls he gets to is high.... Not just from a lack of errors point of view, but from converting balls that other SS's might have just held onto into outs.
  22. That sort of begs the question about position-shifting... There was already talk about when Lawrie being drafted whether he would stick at catcher or not. And given that it seems that Angel's plus defensive tool is his arm, would it maybe make sense (if Lucroy passes him up) to think about a shift to 3B or RF? Obviously, if they can stick at catcher, their best position might be trade-bait, but there's other options to consider.
  23. Dunn's still just 29 years old. Given that it doesn't look like a team is going to give him a 5 year contract or anything, I don't think he'd have a problem taking a shorter contract with a big dollar amount, no matter who it's from. There's still plenty of time for him to play with a contender before he hangs 'em up.
