  1. Let's not turn this into a pro/anti Ned thread, please.
  2. So Dillard has two bad outings and he "shouldn't be allowed to touch a baseball ever again"?
  3. I think the weird thing about that line is that he only walked 2 batters... Makes me wonder if in addition to pitching poorly, if the opposing hitters had some luck on their side... or maybe he was pitching underhand.

  5. Why Ned and Doug seem so anti-Dillard is beyond me. He got shelled in two games in a row back in JUNE, but has been really, really good in AAA ever since. Seems to me that he couldn't be worse or more inconsistent than Gagne.

  7. No, that's why the august 31st trading deadline is so important.
  8. Best Gyros: Gyro Palace (S 27th) Best Steak: Fleming's (Brookfield Square) Best Pizza: Topper's Best Burger: Fuddrucker's Best Sushi: Honada (Kenosha) Best Mexican: Taco Amigo (Waukesha)
  9. If they did that, Bush wouldn't be eligible for the postseason roster (unless there was an injury). There's also a limit of I believe 7 days before you can recall a player that you optioned (again, unless there was an injury)
  10. I find it troubling that a Cubs fan with 16 posts doesn't handle himself better than this, knowing that he's obviously on "enemy soil". As far as the altercation goes, here are the facts as we can determine from the footage: - Carlos Villanueva pumped his fist after getting the final out in the inning - Carlos Villanueva and Albert Pujols had an altercation following that Everything else is he said/she said/speculation. Here's my speculation, for what it's worth: - Carlos Villanueva pumped his fist after getting the final out in the inning - Carlos probably did something here that was derogatory towards the Cards, or at least was construed as derogatory towards the Cards - Pujols took exception, because he's the "leader" of the team - Carlos and Pujols had a pissing match Now, knowing what happened so far in the game with Braun getting deliberately plunked (at least, that's my opinion, since Wainright had zero control issues all night), my guess is that Albert was on the watch for shenanigans. Given that Albert has taken the role of calling other players out for "disrespecting the game" in the past, he instigated the shouting match with Villanueva. Personally, I think it's hypocritcal for him to do that because of his home run admiring, but whatever. I think Carlos and Pujols were both "at fault" here because they were all lathered up about this very emotional game. Honestly, I think fans are trying to blame one side or the other more, depending on what team they're cheering for. Given the complete lack of real facts, I don't think ANYONE is looking at this objectively (myself included).
  11. One half goes up, and one half goes down. Bam!
  12. Here's an interesting article mentioning that it's a growing trend. It sorta reminds me of dating, again. We used to spend a LOT of time together in our office (where both of our computers were), and then a LOT of time together in the bedroom (watching TV, reading, sleeping). Now it seems like the time spent together is more because we want to, and not because we're just smashed in the same room together. I sorta like it. Plus, I work from home a ton, and it's very hard for her not to ask me a question and interrupt me while I'm trying to solve a problem. Now, if it's something she doesn't really need immediate feedback on, she can bring it up later, or email me to remind me.
  13. When we first got together, it was sort of like that. I wasn't used to other people making sounds in my bedroom, and I'd go crash on the couch from time to time. Shes wasn't happy about it because she thought it reflected on me not wanting to be around her. As time's gone on, however, specifically due to medical issues, her sleep patterns have been erratic. The thing she likes to do most when she's awake is read, and even pages turn quietly will wake me out of a sleep. So, at least for now, we're going to give this a shot, and I will pave the way for the rest of the men here http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  14. I'll invite her over to my room every now and then, I suppose.
  15. It's not the firmness of the bed, it's the difference in sleep styles.
  16. I do a fair bit of TH-bashing, so it's only fair that I come out and say when Tom hits the nail on the head. I don't disagree with a single thing he says in that post.
  17. So I'm a really light sleeper, and the wife's a pretty restless sleeper. She likes to read to wind down for bed, and I like to watch TV or listen to music. So we were out at dinner yesterday, and I joked around that we should have separate bedrooms. She actually thought it was a good idea. So here we are, one day later, and I have "my own room" again. I'm still adjusting to the weirdness of sleeping alone, but I think once that wears off, this might be a pretty sweet deal. Anyone else tried this?
  18. Honestly, I think they have the talent on the existing 40-man roster where they shouldn't have to give up anything talent-wise. Stetter and Dillard will be back, and the bullpen's been fairly rested. They would have TGJ and perhaps Escobar for defensive purposes as well.
  19. If you're making a trade, you make the assumption that you're dumping one of our current 25-man roster players. I don't see that happening.
  20. Looks like Pujols has a history of being hypersensitive Seriously, though, I think it's in people's nature to start picking on things about the team that's ahead of them in the standings because they're insecure. Would we care much about Zambrano's "emotion" if he were a Pirate? Probably not.
  21. http://images.wikia.com/openserving/sports/images/4/45/Pujols-Lidge.jpg Whatever.
  22. Given that Hardy's so close to a big payday as a SS, I don't think he would be willing to suck it up and do that.
  23. Honestly, I think DivX and Quicktime player will use whatever codec you have installed. Try downloading the K-Lite codec pack: http://www.free-codecs.co...oad/K_lite_codec_pack.htm I use this on my windows media center box, and never have problems playing files of various formats.
  24. The Giants have the funds to extend Hardy's contract, should they want to. Dunno, Sabean's pretty unpredictable... Doesn't seem like a perfect match to me either, but SF marches to the beat of a different drummer.
  25. Sheeter's got a 3.21 against the Cards this year ... I don't really put much credence into stats vs. a given team. Roster turnover's pretty high.
