  2. Your professor is a moron. Although, I would have used Math.Min instead of a series of nested if statements.
  3. MLB: Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles NFL: Atlanta Falcons NHL: Pittsburgh Penguins NCAA Football: Alabama
  4. Would I take Torre over Yost? Probably. However, I really don't think he's that great of a manager, despite the Yankees' success. If I'm looking to replace Yost (which doesn't look like it's going to happen before 2008), I'd look in other directions first...
  5. Actually, it's a AP article, not someone writing for a rag. And it wasn't "some idiot" writing the article, it was someone quoting Steinbrenner directly.
  6. Seriously, what did you expect? Or are you just venting?
  7. I thought it was funny. He's right on all counts.
  8. The computer generated overlay dealie they have on the basepath that shows how much of a leadoff a guy has is pretty cool.
  9. I can't stand when the judge on the People's Court starts speaking in Spanish when neither the plaintiff nor the defendant speak Spanish.
  10. Please, no caps locks in the subject line. Edited, moved to off-topic.

  15. Who would you have hit over Rivera. Miller, Rottino? To me, they're pretty much all the same guy. Who else was available?
  16. What do you mean? I've ever see someone renege on a vote of confidence.

  18. By 2022, we should have our chat room issues squared away.
  19. Site issue or sight issue?... Meaning, problem with our site or your sight? I don't mean to pick nits, but I just want to make sure there's not something on our end that is ambiguous or still needs to be resolved. The "penalty box" time is just an hour.
  20. With the Spygate stuff going on in the NFL, isn't it funny the amount of "cheating" that gets brushed under the carpet in MLB. I would imagine that statement is accurate. Assuming that, it is in complete violation of the rules. How has Sveum been with his defensive positionings? I know our defense his horrible, but most of that seems to be the defensive ability of the players and not their positioning. Of course, watching on TV you aren't always able to see where they started the play to see how the positioning affect their play. From talking to people in baseball, I'm fairly certain that Yost still has the ability to manage after the ejection. As far as Sveum goes, if Yost stays, I don't have a problem with Sveum staying. If Yost goes, then it really should be up to the new manager to bring in his guys. The manager is going to have a much better understanding of who's doing a good job with defensive positioning than the GM would. As far as my opinions on the defensive positioning, I don't think it's either been stellar or horrible. I don't recall a time thinking, wow, they had him shaded perfectly, nor was there a time where I thought they had a badly engineered shift on.
  21. I had mentioned that font size being too large at least twice before that. So, I was hardly coming out of nowhere. The problem is that no matter what font size you use, the box where you type it in is ALWAYS the default font, so if you really increased it so you could read just what you wrote, that's only possible after it's too late (after you hit send/enter). If it's really a sight issue, then you can just decrease the resolution on your screen, thereby making all the words from _everyone_ bigger without annoying other users.
  22. But it's a good idea to get the manager ejected, make the other team mad, and give them a free baserunner in the eighth inning of a one-run game? Sure, it would have been a bad idea in the third, but at least you're giving your team more than six outs to make up for a bad decision if you do it in the third inning. I didn't say it was a good idea to get the manager ejected. I was responding to your statement that it would have better to throw at him in the third. If you get your starting pitcher ejected in the third, you've not only screwed the team over for that game, but probably the next game as well.
  23. It would have been a very, very bad idea to get your starting pitcher ejected in the third inning. Right?
  24. Honestly, if Sveum can't tell that Turnbow doesn't have it (he was throwing like 94 with no location on the breaking ball), I'd rather have 'ole Ned in there. Sveum was Royster-esque tonight.
