  1. RyansRoommate Now he's PM'ing me (as HH), asking why he was banned. Umm... Yeah. This is why they log IP addresses.
  2. So, I'm probably going to have to throw out my non-political-conversation spiel here...

  5. I'm 40% more attractive than Steve Stone. Gyros are 37% more delicious than cheeseburgers.
  6. I'm sure he arrived at the 40% number through detailed analysis using an objective approach.

  8. A world-wide draft only limits the team that a player can initially sign with, not the amount of money they'll end up paying out for him. It'll work just as well as "recommended" slot money works. The way salaries have escalated, I don't think paying money out to int'l players will decrease the amount of money available to owners. Every time the bar is raised, it stays raised.
  9. It would take a strike or something severe for players ever to agree to capping or pretty much anything to limit player salaries. Unlike the NFL or NBA, the players union in baseball seems to have all the leverage they need.
  10. Obviously, you're alluding to the Snappers moving to Delevan. I'd sure as heck appreciate it becoming a Brewers affiliate, but they moved out because partly because of the weather. I guess I just don't see them leaving WV since their relationship seems to be pretty strong.
  11. So what it boils down to is job performance should dictate a retain/fire status. That's something I can get on board with. I just have a problem with the "he's the guy overseeing it, so it's his fault" concept. I think there are some people in management positions that are dealt crappy hands, and shouldn't have to suffer for it.
  12. Kremblas is VERY much a players' manager, and as alluded to above, has some unorthodox ideas about catching the other team off-guard. With that said, being a minor league manager and a major league manager requires two very different approaches. It's not inconceivable that Kremblas could change his approach when the goal (winning games, not developing players) is at hand. He's not my first choice, but not my last either.
  13. This is something I don't agree with. I'm not saying this is or isn't the case with Yost, but if you have an above-average manager with below-average talent, I want the above-average manager, because the alternative could very well worse, regardless is they're "responsible" for it from the traditional, managerial point of view. I've got no problem with Attanasio or Melvin making the team better by making personnel changes, but just firing the guy because it's the "thing you're supposed to do" isn't a theory I would personally subscribe to. I am not sure I understand your response, but with all do respect Brian, in the context I was trying to convey it is the right thing to do. He hasn't panned out, and its time to take the company in a different direction (other than down). In any results driven business, management is given to opportunity to produce results. If there are no results, especially after 5 years, then its time to make a switch. Ned shouldn't have to get caught soliciting sex in a bathroom in order to lose his job, all he has to do to lose his job is what he has done all season - and that is prove he isn't a very good manager. This team is/was plenty talented to take this division this year. All they needed was a little mojo from management. What they got instead was an em-battled manager with no huevos. My point is that you're operating under the assumption that is at the top of the food chain, and therefore should get the axe. I'm not saying he shouldn't, but the guy above him has been there for 5 years as well. If the criteria is 5 losing seasons, then why isn't all management given the heave-ho? Melvin, Ash, and Nichols would fall under those basic rules of business as well.

  15. Rebuilding is when you jettison all of your salary and don't replace it. I can't fathom the Brewers doing that this offseason. They're still in a very good position to win by supplementing their core, young players with free agents or creative trades.

  18. CORRECT. His best known song was probably "Number One" from the film Real Genius.
  19. It's a moral imperative that someone get this one right.
  20. This cannot happen here. That's a 1 week ban.
  21. A GM can only do so much without payroll support. If you look at Melvin's move, there have been far more positive ones than negatives one. If the balance tipped, then I would think about letting him go.
