  1. To me, venting is things like: ARGHHHGHTJWT@%@@@@@!!@!@@!$%$@!@U *U%*@U%*@*@*%@@@@!!!!!!!! That's just how I vent. To each their own. The problem is the fact that some people will use the venting thread as a venue to state opinions that are debatable. And there are going to be people that debate them. People don't get a "free pass" on things that promote discussion just because it's in the venting thread. However, things like: THIS TEAM MAKES MY BRAIN HURT. I WANT TO KICK PUPPIES. are things that we wouldn't necessarily allow you to say in a normal discussion thread, but are perfectly acceptable here. So, post at your own risk.... unless the anti-puppy-kicking crowd is reading, then I'm not really serious. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. [ Brian is that from the movie Lord of the Flies? ] Yes. I think it describes the situation perfectly.

  4. Maybe people would start treating each other with respect if we started handing out strikes for condescending comments. Come on, people. We're all Brewers fans. Put things in perspective, and stop screwing up the site. There are other places where people can have their flame wars.
  5. [ I'm awesome at those. I've won several hundred dollars on them. ] I was 2nd at state.
  6. [ I think at the end of the day -- some people are hardwired to be optimistic and some are set up to be pessimistic. I don't think it should be expected that tigers are going to change their stripes. ] I'm not saying people should change their stripes. I'm asking for the people who's stripes are going to cause them to break the sites rules and guidelines to think twice before hitting the submit button. The primary reason this site has been so successful is because, for the most part, there's a certain respect level between posters. I feel that is slipping away.
  7. [ Posters can have whatever opinion they want, I'd just ask that they tone down the negativity a bit. ] I guess what bothers me most is that people with the extremely negative point of view (and some of those with the extremely positive point of view) tend to be pretty vicious in their arguments against each other. I really don't need that here at a site that prides itself in having a more mature discussion. There are other sites out there where people can flame each other... but I'd really like to head it off at the pass instead of letting things devolve into pissing matches. And what really has caught my attention recently are newer posters who have joined up with what seems to be the sole intention to vent.
  8. [ I don't see what's so bad about someone having the opinion that the Brewers season is over. There are some undeniable trends staring us in the face right now. A logical person could have every right to believe that the trends will continue and we'll likely be a bit out of it by season's end. Especially if that logical person is a bit on the pessimistic side. ] People said the same thing when the Brewers had their last bad stretch. People said the same thing after the no-hitter. I mean, when will people learn that things aren't as good as when they're going their best, and not as bad as it is when it's going it's worst?
  9. I know this is the venting thread, but for those who say that the Brewers season is now over, feel free to leave the site at any time.
  10. [ I'd imagine he was referring to runner on third and less than 2 outs recently. We've been putrid in those situations. Especially late in games. Also tied or down 1 with a chance to get the defining run, we've choked. There's no split for the latter because close and late include up 1 to 3, which is not nearly as important of a situation to score runs in. ] Yeah, I can't find splits for that.... But with the best OPS in the NL with bases loaded, I don't think it's as bad as we think.
  11. [ but why does it seem like it's so incredibly rare to "get it done" in situations like these?? ] I'm not sure how to find the exact splits you want, but the Brewers have the best OPS in the NL with bases loaded.
  12. [ And by the way, I APOLOGIZE FOR THE "FOOLS" COMMENT. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me. I'm really not a bad guy, just a passionate (and frustrated) Brewer fan like most on here. But I do hate Yost. No backing down from that. ] Passion = OK. Belittling others, not OK. As long as you play by those rules, that's all I ask.
  13. [ Braun has an OPS of 1.057 over the past 7 days. Braun's OPS for the *season* is 1.058. ] He's slumping!!
  14. And no offense to Prince, but he's a big man. It's not unreasonable to think he needs a day off. What does it matter if they rested Braun yesterday and Prince today? Is it any different than if they were rested 2 days apart? 3 days apart? 7 days apart?
  15. [ To me it's more important start getting road wins now and building up momentum on the road. Right now, they have zero momentum. ] I'm of the camp that "momentum" really only matters to fans. You take the same approach to batting from day to day. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. [ Rest Fielder when some other guys are picking up the slack. Right now I can't find any ] Braun has an OPS of 1.057 over the past 7 days. Weeks, .831. Jenkins, .897. Heck, Counsell, .804.
  16. [ He didn't look sore on that triple the other night. ] He also didn't run with his arms. Who knows which part could be sore?... who knows how sore it was last night before the triple? after the triple? Guilty until proven innocent, I say.
  17. [ is he in the softball hall of fame? ] Yes.
  18. [ Well -- First, Sheets coming back pushes Yo to the pen -- Who is pitching as well as anyone. I would assume Yo would pitch in games where set-up pitchers would be used, i.e. non-mop-up situations. ] Sheets won't be back until September.... August & the remainder of July are crucial as well.
  19. [ Soriano has started every Cub game since April 25th when he was held out on a rainy day at Wrigley because he was still nursing a tender hammy. Derek Lee has started every Cub game all year other than his suspension except 3 or 4 in May when he had a slight injury. Aramis Ramirez started every Cub game that he was not on the DL but one on June 27th when he was still a little sore. ] How do we know Prince isn't "a little sore"? I think you're making an assumption based off the very limited information we, as fans, get compared to the very detailed information that Prince and Yost have.
  20. [ Jack McDowell. ] This guy never played professional baseball.
  21. To me, the ranking still stays unchanged.
  22. [ If we're going to follow the Twins' model, as has been suggested, shouldn't we either stand pat or make a really minor move at the deadline? ] On the flip side, there's the A's model: 1) Make deadline trades for potential type-A free agents, giving up prospects that you think might be overrated by other teams. 2) Let the free agents walk, getting a slew of draft picks. 3) Repeat That IS the model I like best, but I'm not sure that Inman still wasn't a top-tier guy.
