  1. I agree...Gallardo is one cool cat. I was at the game Thursday and it did look like the emotion/adrenaline of the early innings coupled with teh lack of work caught up to him quickly and he tired, but he wasn't going to go much deeper anyway. I think the key if the Brewers are to win Game 1 is to avoid getting in an early hole, and maintain until some of the excitement and emotion of teh game wears down, and simply based on ability, I think Gallardo probably provides the best option for that. I'd be fine running the experience of Suppan out there as well - he's obviously been there - but given the way the last couple weeks have gone, Yo is my guy, and hope the bullpen can handle the last 5 innings or so.
  2. I will admit the same. I am also thrilled for Schroeder. I remember thinking how much I could hear the excitement in his voice back in August when the Brewers were playing so well and seemed destined to make the playoffs. He was obviously very excited today. I never understood the people who don't like him. I think he does a good job in the booth, demonstrates some knowledge and he is more than happy to let the fan come out. He is clearly a fan, has chosen to make his home here (the same place I gre up), wants nothing more for than the brewers to win, and has struggled through some really rough times. I am happy for him (as well as Ueker and Powell of course).
  3. It spine tingling to be sure.
  4. That's just what i was thinking. I definitely think that would make him feel the love.
  5. I am of the opinion we pulled success from teh jaws of failure. I thought the Brewers would win, but I thought the Mets would as well, and I didn't think we'd have a shot tomorrow. Anyway who cares, we're in.
  6. I Suppan is healthy/feels strong (he says he does), I would be ok giving that a shot. I have my doubts as to hs physical state however.
  7. I might go with Gallardo and McClung/Bush on Wed, CC in game 2, then Suppan.
  8. Congratulations to everyone here, as well as teh players coaches, etc. I think we have all earned this moment, and hopefully, its not over yet.
  9. He deserves the same amount of credit/blame that Yost received. Also, I hold him 100% responsible for sending a clearly injured Ben Sheets out there yesterday, to put the Brewers in a 4-0 hole, when Dave Bush was ready, willing, and able to pitch. Would it have turned out differently (the Brewers didn't exactly hit)? Perhaps not, and of course we'll never know, but putting Sheets and his 88 mph fastball out there was clearly a mistake.
  10. Just reading that lineup invoked terrible visions of what they are going to do to Suppan. But, at least we get to face Dempster. Oh wait...I am not optimistic.
  11. Turns out that was just blowing smoke because after his three-minute bullpen session yesterday, Sheets told Sveum he was good enough to go. Well, I feel 100% confident we'll get 7 strong innings out of Sheets tomorrow. Sounds like he threw at least 15 pitches in the bullpen without pain. Wonder if they were able to get Lee, Soriano, and Aram to stand in against him on some of those. Two words: Short leash! Check that, three words: Very Short Leash!
  12. Yes, and its not close. I am not crazy about 3 consecutive starts on short rest. But until you are in, you are not in. And if you are not in, there is no reason to save anyone for anything. The potential tie breaker is just that - it amounts to a 163rd game on the schedule.
  13. If Hardy is done, in the interest of keeping this fun, exciting, loose, carefree, etc. etc., I say throw Escobar out there. I suspect the rest of the team would rally around him, as would the fans. Heck, even the Cubs might get a little kick out of seeing a kid get thrown into a situation like that. When you look at what is and has been going on with the pitching staff lately, why not? Counsell will still be there for the late innings, PH duty etc. I must admit I do have a bit of a problem reconciling this with the RH pitcher we'll be facing, as well as Suppan pitching top contact, but what do we have to lose really? From a fans perspective, I say make this thing fun while you have the chance, and if we are gonna go down, go down in a serious blaze of glory. Would you rather lose on an Escobar error, or Counsell GIDP? Seriously
  14. I do believe MLB will be quite sensitive to the Cubs situation in deciding what to do tonight, and beyond. Of course they want to get the games in, but there is no way they want to see any Cubs player get hurt at this point any more then they want to see them run a AAA squad out there. They are just as aware of the season the Cubs are having and where thier focus is, as they are the importance of this game to the Mets.
  15. I am a firm beleiver that you upset the baseball Gods when you try to manipulate situations like this too much. I am not going to conclude that what you describe is ultimatley their objective, but if it is, when you try to get too cute or clever, I think you ultimatley end up hurting yourself. Short of getting Santana on the mound for one more start, which this seemingly would not do (I suppose in the unlikley event of 3 days lost to rain, and a 163rd game, its possible), all this does is take the focus off of what is ultimately important - winning your next game.
  16. Rain appears to be developing and moving towards NY quickly. This whole situation could get very interesting. I will repeat my suggestion to the Brewers to win tonight.
  17. Well, if these games aren't played as scheduled, it certainly would eliminate the possible/theoretical issue of players watching the scoreboard, as there will be no scores to watch except the one the Brewers can control.
  18. That is just the TENTATIVE schedule that MLB put out. Obviously it could happen that way, but very subject to change.
  19. Only downside here is that we have to face this relentless run scoring machine this weekend. I would strongly advise the Brewers to win tomorrow night.
  20. OH YES I AM!!!!!! Got my tix for tomorrow.
  21. I have no issues rooting for DLee, Marmol, Thriot, etc., but am I really sitting here pulling for Aramis Ramirez?
  22. C'mon DLEE. Just like last week.
