  1. Beat Pirates once. Check Beat Pirates twice. Check Go Cubs Go. Go Cubs Go. Etc. Etc.
  2. Nevermind Howry's pitching [/blue]. Only question now is how many batters will it take.
  3. Murphy, Wright and Delgado coming up in the 9th. Why do I get the sense we aren't making up any ground tonight? I hate Notre Dame.
  4. Then again, if the Brewers lose tonight, this could all be somewhat moot. Just win baby!
  5. Its available Monday and Tuesday too. How about the rain just hangs around NY a few more day. The Cubs and Mets play the makeup game at MP, and then the Mets just stay here for game 163?
  6. I assume some boos came down when he walked the pitcher on 4 straight balls. I am guessing in that instance some of those boos were coming from the dugout, and possibly the mound, and his grandmother's living room.
  7. I'd imagine it would be Marshall pitching for the Cubs, and you never know if that type of thing would be good or bad. I'd be perfectly fine if they spend 6 hours trying to get that game in on Thursday between rain drops. That would theoretically impact both the Mets and the Cubs who would then have to travel to Milwaukee for the game Friday. Can't imagine their interest level for that game would be very high at that point. Can work both ways. There are all kinds of scenarios that could come of that.
  8. http://theepochs.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/the-lemonheads-its-a-shame-about-ray.jpg Really rough game tonight.
  9. I think the Branyan and Kapler injuries may be the most underappreciated aspects of this season. The didn't seem all that serious given the roles of the players, but seeing what has transpired since makes them very big. Who would've thought that during Spring training? As far as Gross...nah. It took two outfielders getting hurt before he wver would have been considered. Braun clearly is able to play, even though he isn't hitting very well, and Gross never would have played for him, so really we are talking about potentially taking a bit of time away from Corey Hart. It might be nice to have him, but what has been missing the past few weeks is Kapler, not Gross. Beyond that, the Brewers decided to send him somewhwre so he could have a chance to play. It was the right thing to do as that was not going to happen here. Prior to Kapler getting hurt, and the few games Braun sat out, he NEVER would have played.
  10. Well I'm going Thursday, so I vote for CC or Gallardo. Chalk me up as not wanting CC to go on 3 days again tomorrow. I just don't see that ending well.
  11. I think it may be worth noting that really the only place this has been said is Jim Powell, Trenni, etc. I'm not sure I ever saw this directly from Gord Ash or Doug Melvin. Maybe it has, but I don't think so. Even if they did say it, the point is, who really knows. They tried to keep a potential return somewhat under wraps for a while as Ash explained. Heck, a week ago Ben Sheets had forearm tightness, that later tured into an elbow that had been sore for weeks. Hard to put much stock in anything we hear. I guess we'll find out the truth if/when he steps into the batters box this week.
  12. I think your overall assesment is probably right, but I'm not sure we will see the same the rest of the week. I think more than anything he wanted to get home field out of the way last night so they could just put everyting else to bed and spend the rest of the week getting ready for next week. I suspect they'll still play hard and all that, but they now have three games left against both the Mets and the Brewers, and if he treats them all the same, nobody can really complain. You are right about the pitchers...starters will get pulled, certain releivers may not come in, etc. Guys will get days off...They'll still play, but I don't suspect we'll see the same kind of thing we saw last night.
  13. I am curious as to what others are realistically hoping for. Obviously anything can happen and I'd love to be able to overtake the Mete, but as I think about it, I guess I don't think we will be able to make up 2 games, so when you get right down to it, I suppose I am simply hoping for game 163 on Monday.
  14. My question is what are the Brewers doing about this? With 10,000 or so tickets available for each of the Pirates games, wouldn't you be slashing prices to get those sold and fill that place up, or are they expecting the 'excitement' of the playoff race to take care of the walk-up?
  15. This is really stupid if true. He is either the manager you want to hire, or he isn't. I will say that tonight and the rest of this week will provide a rather interesting test of the Yost firing. The Brewers are coming of a win, had an off day and seem to have been given some new life courtesey of the Chicago Cubs. There is every reason in the world they should come out and play well. If they do, I think it will provide some validation for the Ned firing. If they continue to stink on ice, I think it will provide all the evidence necessary that the problem with this team was not with the manager, but with the players.
  16. Boy I wish the Brewers were more like the Cubs.
  17. Agreed...tonight is the 'extra' game that the Brewers already lost. If the Mets win this one, I don't like the math one bit (I don't even like it if they lose).
  18. I thought I heard her say that in his last simulated game he threw 5 innings and 75 pitches. I didn't here Trenni say that, but I did hear Jim Powell say just that over the weekend. he also said he has not picked up a bat. Must be getting him readt to make a start in the American League ball park during the WS. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. Yeah, but those games have to mean something before that becomes an issue. Plus, if game 163 happens, he would be available to start that (I assume).
  20. brewers.com currently has Sheets listed as the starter on Friday. Bush on Tuesday, with TBA working both games in between.
