  1. Unfortunately with Sheets, its starting to look as if we'll never know.
  2. I wonder about this myself. Did anyone see the Brewers Str8up series when they tracked Capuano for 5 days? Does anyone, and I mean anyone, see Sheets working out that way? For the record I had those thoughts at the time, not just now. I just don't see him keeping up the same kind of regimine that Capuano was/is on. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.
  3. I guess we'll see if the new look Brewers are any different than the old look Brewers, because so far this season, this would be the point where they insert a 4 game losing streak and render that win meaningless.
  4. Not likely. too many games left against bad teams.
  5. It could go even further than that. If they do feel they are "in it to win it," as Attanasio has at least said, and Doug has some trade possibilities out there, I have to believe they would make every effort to improve this team before the Reds series. Lack of success in that series would be the final nail in the coffin.
  6. I see. So you know that's why he was lit up in that start? You know this how? How then do you explain his other bad starts? How did Yost cause those? Reading some of these posts, you'd think Dave Bush is the right handed JDLR or something, and the HOF is merely a formality.
  7. Its a good question, and I don't claim to have the answer, but personally I suspect there is one. He would be the only alternative though. One thing I will throw out there is the trading deadline. With every team looking for bullpen help, I think its definitely possible there is a very good reason he wasn't used tonight.
  8. It really is not as complicated as the folks who would like to believe that Ned Yost is the reason the Brewers are bad, would like it to be. Bush pitched only 3 innings in his last start, and because of off days and Sheets and Ohka coming back, he will not make another start until August 1st. That's the difference, and I suspect you know that, but if Yost is a bad manager then that's the easy answer everybody wants, ans d it means the Brewers are really better than they have shown. That is certainly amore desireable option than the reality that we have a bunch of pitchers that can't get hitters out. Given the complete joke the rest of the Brewers bullpen is, and Dave Bush truly was in all likelihood the best option tonight.
  9. Here are the Bullpen options for those who say Bush was a mistake: Wise - Not available Capellan - Not available (I assume given the sore shoulder and crap outing last night.) Helling - Who knows what's up with him? Gonzalez - Pitched more innings than Bush did the other day. Turnbow - Ummm... Shouse - Maybe Kolb - currently the closer and unreliable at best. So in a 1-1 game with a LH followed by 3 RH's who would you have put in instead of Bush? The only real option is probably Shouse. Lets not forget folks that this is the same pitching staff that came dangerously close to coughing up an 8 run lead last night. Dave Bush was in there for the same reason Ben Sheets led off the 6th inning, he was the bullpen tonight.
  10. Something tells me you won't be hearing much from Doug the next few days.
  11. Might as well give Gwynn a shot, no? Small sample, but he's been hitting to this point. So your starting SS tonight....Chris Barnwell. Yippie!
  12. Can I go off the board on this one?
  13. That's Brewer announcer talk for broken bone in wrist - out 6-8 weeks.
  14. Safe to assume we will see an almost identical comment every time jenkins is in the line up for the rest of the season? I understand Coey Hart is HOF-bound and all, but Jenkins is going to play.
  15. Yes, and the problem will be compounded when he walks away in free agency, leaving the Brewers with nothing but a .500 record and a hole in next season's line-up. I want him traded because I don't believe the Brewers will re-sign him, and having him here this year does no good, as this team is not going to be making a run at the playoffs. By July 31st he needs to either have a new contract in hand or a different uniform. Regardless of the which one it is, the Brewers also need a $10-20million increase in payroll next year. If they sign Carlos and then cry poor when they can't get pitching help, don't bother signing him, because you're still going to be just a .500 ballclub.
  16. Well guess what, if the Brewers get to turn around some of their losses because if only, so does the rest of the league, and the Brewers would still be right where they are. It doesn't work that way. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a magical Christmas. We don't have an average bullpen, we have a bad one to go along with an inconsistent offense, and shaky defense. At 4 games below .500 the required results for teh rest of teh season to get to the 85-86 win mark are borderlline impossible - for a good team, let alone the Brewers. That would require a .606 W%. Currently the White Sox, Tigers and Red Sox are at that level or above, with only the Yankees and Mets coming close. We are out of it!
  17. To who though? We aren't exactly overflowing with reliable relievers.
  18. LOL! Yep, if only we didn't have Ned Yost - Look out Cardinals!.
  19. I do! So does anyone who actually chooses to use their brain and the gift of rational thought which seperates us from other animals.
  20. In favor of who? As of next week, our 5 starters are Sheets, Capuanao, Davis, Bush, and Ohka.
  21. I agree with this. DM does a good job with the limited resources available to him (although I would like to see a bit more balance betwen power and OBP type guys. If they don't hit HR's, the Brewers lose. The feast or famine offense is a recipe for failure (unless you have dominant pitching I suppose - which we obviously don't).
  22. Funny, because I had the same gut feeling last night and I have the same gut feeling about tomorrow and that lineup doesn't even exist yet. Its not the lineup, its the team.
  23. This team is a joke. Contenders. BWAAAA HAAAAA HAAAA HAAAA HAAAA!
  24. A loss with Weeks in the lineup counts the same in the standings as one without him in the lineup.
  25. How is that any different from the previous 4 games?
